This is where I put mine. I think it goes well with the retro speedometer. I have been asked if the "vents" really keep my bags cool. I always respond that they must work fine because the beer in them is always cold. (here's your sign)

That is just to creepy for me

I have a modular version of that helmet and must say I love it. My wife and I both wear glasses and have had no problem with the sun visor. In addition I usually ride with my sunglasses on and if I am riding directly into the sun at the start or end of the day I drop down the sun visor and it really helps.

Gotta disagree with you on this on. By moving to the right track you are allowing yourself a few more feet of reaction time if they should start to move in front of you. Additionally people make the decision to go in front of traffic based on their perception of the ability to clear before that vehicle gets there. By moving to the right track you have increased the perception that they will NOT be able to clear before you get there and it will reduce the possibility of them going. Finally it will allow you the opportunity to go to the right which is what most people will expect you to do. If they do see you they will most likely hit the brakes. The additional road or parking lot surface they are turning in to/on to will provide you with additional surface to maneuver. If you are in the left track that means you will either A) hit them or B) cut behind them and quite possibly head on into the car that may be behind them and coming around.

Helicopters!!! Too many pieces going in too many different directions at too high a rate of speed. That's two to many's for me.

If it is the 6 bolts/screws that attach the two sides of the cowling together than the part number I found in the Yamaha Venture Parts List is 92014-05025-00 which mean that it is a 5mm x 25mm or about 1 inch long. Without going out and taking one off my bike I seem to remember that the screw is about 1 inch long. If I was going to buy one that is what I would get.

Read this thread for figuring out the size of the bolt you need when you go to your loacl hardware store. It will save you some time and money. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45627&highlight=bolt+sizes

As you can see in my picture below I added the glue on vent looking things to my bags. I have been asked if that really helped keep my bags cool and I told them that I never had a problem with the beer getting warm in my bags. (here's your sign) Guess it would work for cheesecake as well. -
Where did you get those tail lights on the bags? Got an idea for those but want to see how much first.

Distorted audio from speakers (2nd Gen)
AKRefugee replied to Owen's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Got mine in the shop going through that right now. Not only got them to replace the amp but they are also replacing all 4 speakers. -
I went with the F4 and would not get anything else. Yes you can use a paper towel with no problem. I have even used a gas station squeegee with not problem ( you aught to watch the wing guys flinch when I do that hehehe) The optics are phenomenal with no distortion Okay to use Rain X on it I have about 20,000 miles on mine now and it is as unblemished and the optics are as great as the day I bought it. I got the tallest one they have. My Sweetie says the differene in buffeting on her is like night and day. When it rains I have no problem looking through it. My

I rode a lot into and out of NYC and had a holder for my toll pass that mounted on my bars. It was very easy to remove the pass and take it with me, If you do a Google search on "toll pass holder motorcycle" you will find a nice selection for about $20.

There is a meter . . .er metor . . I mean meteor . . . oh hell a weather guy at OU that has noted that with the forecast snow in the FL panhandle there will be snow on the ground in all 50 states at the same time. And yes that includes HI at the top of the mountain on the big island. 1st known time in history. He has asked for people to send him in pictures of the snow on the ground so he can post them all on google earth. http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=11973034

How to tell if the rear shock it going bad?
AKRefugee replied to Gamecock's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Believe me you will know when the shock goes out. The ride will not be as stable as what if is when you have a good shock. I noticed it most in the corners. Can you ride with a shock that has lost its oil? Yes, I had to make it back to the west coast all the way from the east coast last year to find a dealer that would deal with it. Of course there was a lot of noise from the rear. Noises like "Ugggh", "you trying to hit every bump you can find" and "could you warn me next time". Believe me your navigator will let you know if the shock is blown. -
BoomerCPO, hmmm BoomerCPO, hmmm BoomerCPO. Oh wait a minute I think I might remember him. Kind of a meek quiet type guy who always keeps his opinion to himself. Yeah I kinda remember him.

See they got rid of the rear shock problem . . . yeehaaa

I know that there have been several threads on this but I did not want this information to be buried. I wrote an email to Avon questioning them about the optimum tire pressures based on different weight configurations of the bike. Below is my query and the response. I removed the reps name and extension number because I did not ask for his approval to use his name. I always carry a toolkit for both metric and standard (which by the way I have only had to use twice and both times was for Harley's . . . just the facts ma'am) so that is why the extra weight for the tool kit. Anyway here is the information. Note that they did not provide me with a formula: RESPONSE Hi Kevin, I have included the pressures below next to the configurations. If you have any other questions please let me know. - - - - - - - - Mickey Thompson Tires Technical Service Representative 1-800-222-9092 Ext.- - - - QUERY Dear Sir or Madam, I own a 2006 Yamaha Venture (Model XVZ13) I recently purchased the Venom rear tire for this bike. I am on a very active forum for this bike and there has been much discussion about the appropriate tire pressure. I would like to assure that I am using the correct information for setting my tire pressures. The following are the weights applicable for my operation of this bike Bike - XVZ 1300 Royal Star, Venture, Classic, Tour Deluxe Tire Model - Venom Tire Size - Front - 150/80-16 71H Tire Size - Rear - 150/90B15 80H Tool Kit - 15 Lbs Rider Weight - 200 Lbs Passenger Weight - 150 Lbs Baggage Weight - 50 Lbs It is my understanding that different weights will change the optimum tire pressure. Can you please advise the optimum tire pressure for the following configurations as well as if there is a formula I can use to determine the optimum tire pressure based on load weight? Configuration 1 - Tool Kit, Rider 36 front 42 rear Configuration 2 - Tool Kit, Rider, Passenger 37 front 44 rear Configuration 3 - Tool Kit, Rider, Passenger,Baggage weight 38 front 45 rear Just thought that you might be able to use this information.
