We will leave about 8am ish for the rest of the run to Elyria Quality Inn (about 5.25 hrs). Any one want to ride with us contact me and we will work out the details.
  6. Have a wonderful trip. You will never forget doing this. And GET A WET VEST. You will never regret it. Heat exhaustion is definitely something you DO NOT want to happen while riding.
  7. So that's why you sent it COD???
  8. And here I was thinking you were "THE" DQ Ice Cream aficionado and you missed this one. Wait, actually that was probably a good thing. There wouldn't have been any left once you had your "piece of cake"
  9. Yes this is the last year . . . for the 2011 models
  10. I did this mod because I was living in SoCal and would ride the desert a lot. Believe me out west there can be many a long distance without gas and every ounce can help. Planned a ride one time and a station was out of business when I got there. Had to keep going because it was to far back to the last one. Went 208 miles and 61 miles of that was with the reserve light on. (was riding "a bit fast" before the reserve light came on). I Put in 5.9 gallons when I got to a station. That mod made the difference of getting to gas or being stuck out on the desert. This mod doesn't make your tank any bigger but it does allow you to use all of it easier. Few items. 1) I did mine with the tank full full full to the top 2) I use to be a powderman so I still had my brass powder punches to use DO NOT USE STEEL PUNCHES 3) I used a plastic head mallet as well. 4) Once you have done the mod don't fill it to the top and than park it. The fuel WILL expand and it WILL overflow. Can you ignore all the advice when doing the mod? Yeah, probably nothing will happen BUT, if something does happen, IT WILL BE BIG. (and we will have to change your name to Richard Pryor)
  11. Planning to go riding on Saturday May 7th. I am in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte near I485 and I77. Thinking I might head kinda towards the north no set route yet. Anyone want to join me I plan on leaving by 9am and plan on being gone into the early evening. I usually stop and snack once before 11a and then stop and eat around 130p but this is mostly about riding. Just pm me or post here if you want to ride with me.
  12. Don't know if you have the equipment but a key cutter and key blanks for the 2nd Gens would probably be most welcomed.
  13. Hey Annie, who you accusing of being randy???
  14. Absolutely not. If you do than you will just have to go get another something something for the actual Mothers Day. (walks off muttering something about dad-gum younguns and having to teach them everything)
  15. Wow, You mean to say those things actually work :rotf:
  16. Don't forget Mitchell SD and the Corn Palace. Something different. And a good place for an ice cream stop ummmmm . . . errrrrrr . . . I mean a food stop.

  18. We I was at a M&E in Fla in October there was someone with a sidecar that looked very nice with the 2nd Gen. I believe it was this one from Hannigan. Maybe the owner will jump in here and comment. Very easy to get in and out of, lots of adjustment on it and a hard top for the passenger (stored right behind the seat vertically) in case it should start to rain.
  19. I've had mine to 115 in 4th and did not hit the limiter. I did however have to shift to 5th to get over the air resistance of the wind shield to get any more speed out of it. BTW that was indicated mph which we all know is not the same as true mph.
  20. (MUNICH, GERMANY) Norbert Reithofer, CEO of Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, announced today that Harley-Davidson Motor Company has accepted a friendly merger agreement by BMW and will combine their motorcycle manufacturing facilities. Mr. Keith E Wandell, CEO of Harley-Davidson, will become president of the the worldwide motorcycle division, which will include the current BMW Motorrad division, Harley-Davidson, and Husqvarna. "We have long felt the need to diversify our motorcycle production by adding models more attuned to the cruiser market," Herr Reithofer said. "With our current BMW line, our Husqvarna line, and now the new Harley-Davidson line, we will be able to penetrate all parts of the worldwide motorcycle market." Mr. Wandell stated that the move, which has taken the motorcycling world by surprise, was accepted by Harley-Davidson as a way to strengthen its capital base, which has never recovered from the 2008 financial meltdown. "We also are looking for ways to streamline our operations by combining research and development, design, and marketing components of our motorcycle lines." The two men showed off a prototype of the kind of combined work the new combined companies will be capable of by announcing the BMW H1600R, which features a Harley motor in the body of the current K1600GT, suitably modified, with a distinctive orange and blue paint scheme to combine the colors of the two companies. There was also a clay mockup of a version of the current RoadKing Classic with the iconic BMW boxer motor, which is promised for fall introduction. FOR RELEASE AFTER MARCH 31, 2011
  21. And just what makes you think that with this group the name badges won't get switched around? (not planting any ideas or anything you know)
  22. Now if they had been doing [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Tvl97ZBYlU]this[/ame] while riding the Wall of Death I might have been impressed.
  23. Made to run from San Diego to Charlotte last year with a stop in Phoenix to see the folks. Trip from Phoenix was as follows (times are per Google maps) Phoenix - Albuquerque NM 419 mi 7:11 Albuquerque NM - Elk City OK 433 mi 6:53 Elk City OK - Clarksville AR 349 5:34 Clarksville AR - Dickson TN 406 6:32 Dickson TN - Charlotte NC 440 7:08 Stayed at Motel 6 everywhere. All I needed was a place to sleep and take a shower in the morning. Stay west of ABQ you do not want to be in the town itself, trust me on that one. If you feeling good and can stand another 80 miles Grants NM is a good stop instead. I like to do 2 longer days 1 medium day and then 2 long days on trips like this. Gives me a break when I really start wishing for one. Across west TX NM and eastern AZ it is not unusual to run in to windy conditions. They will tire you out more than you think when you are running at freeway speeds all day and fighting crosswinds. Like someone already said planning 10 or 11 day round trip means you will not be spending a lot of time stopping to see things.
  24. Plus you can use Rain-X on the F4
