Glad to hear you're good.

I wish I would have found this forum 5 - 6 years ago when I first bought my '06. Huge wealth of knowledge here. The other forum I was in can't even touch the soles of y'alls shoes.

I’m in. Good luck all.

Welcome to South Texas . Born and raised in Northern Ohio but would not go back up north. I ride pretty much every day I'm not travelling and I never wake up to 6" of partly cloudy.

import seat cover replacements
bpate4home replied to baylensman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When my son was 16 years old he had a Cavalier with a rag top that we replaced. I had never done any upholstery work but we were able to get it on and looking pretty good, seemed to take forever stretching it back and forth. I think Balesman has done a good job. It's tough for a laymen to get the button style look without the right tools for the job and keep the seat soaking up a ton of water. Your thoughts of restretching it is a good one. Once that's done please post the final product. I think it will be well worth the effort. -
In '17 I was looking at something similar to this for my '06 RSV. https://www.bikebandit.com/aftermarket-parts/electrical/motorcycle-gauges-indicators/koso-db-01r-multi-function-electronic-speedometer/p/31354?rrec=true The size is very close to the actual opening. I didn't get too much int it though as I heard they were bringing the beast back into production. This particular one covers basically everything including adjustments for tire size. This is from the description 1.77"H x 4.72"W x 1.38"D

I put the risers on after reading what seemed to be hundreds of comments here and elsewhere regarding hand numbness. I experienced this on the RSV also. I had tried adjusting the bars on the RSV and it helped some from when I bought it used. Based on the way I sit on the bike I found that I needed the bars a little under 2" further back on both bikes. This virtually eliminated the numbness issue I would experience. I also just feel completely relaxed with the bars slightly back and up from where they were when I got it from the dealer. As a side note I also tried all of the seat positions. I have the stock seat and the small back rest has 3 positions. None of these changed my comfort level or helped with the numbness I experienced.

Good morning N3FOL. I had an '06 RSV and loved the bike putting 75K on it in just over 5 years of owning it. I've had my SVTC now since the end of April and love the change. I have ~8,000 miles on it already thanks to a 2200 Mi. vacation on it and I've had to travel (by plane) for business for 6 - 7 weeks during that time. Basically, getting rid of the business travel, I'm averaging 1800 - 2000 miles a month on it. I have not had any issues with the bike, at all. I believe the navigation could use some changes but to be honest I have not used it much at all. For our trip I used my phone for GPS. The complaints about way points I cannot verify because of this. I did used it to find gas, food etc. As far as the heat issues that have been mentioned by some, I have not experienced those. I live in Houston so it feels a little warmer than the RSV. We are sitting on an engine. I did drill out my exhaust though for a little deeper sound which I think is perfect, still not too loud. I'm 5'7 on a good day :rotfl:and a 28" inseam and the bike fits me well. I ride pretty much every day, the agreement with my wife is under a 40% chance of rain. I had a self imposed low of 40 but that will definitely change with this bike. I also put on Rox risers based on comments here and love them. 2 things I wish I would have done when purchasing the bike was to add the lower wind deflectors and the rack on the trunk. I will probably do both of these later this year.

I was working in a server room in the center of a high rise (24th Floor) in Cleveland OH while this was going on. I had 0 clue, literally. While the rest of the Firm I worked at were surrounding the few TV's scattered about I was engrossed in my work. I found out when someone from my dept. just happened to ask where I was after the order was given to evacuate downtown. The plane that went down in PA made its u-turn over Cleveland and was not responding to the radio and everyone thought it they may just decide to crash it into one of Cleveland's buildings. Remember What Happened Remember those we lost Give thanks for those that ran into the fray instead of away Thank you to our First responders everywhere Thank you to our Volunteer Military and our Veterans everywhere

If I see ya, I wave. Have always done that. Sometimes I see a nod in return but mostly everyone throws up a hand.

Glad to hear you're riding some. I too was a little apprehensive going to an air cooled bike. When I was in CA a few years back on business I was able to rent an Indian for a weekend ride from Irvine to San Fran, then back to Irvine and that changed my mind. I was looking heavily at the Gold Wing, the Indian Roadmaster and Chieftain, really being disappointed that Yamaha wasn't making the Venture at the time. I got wind of the Gen 3 just a few months before I planned on pulling the trigger on an Indian. I am so glad I, just by happenstance, waited to get the new Venture.

Sorry I was a little tied up over the weekend. Glad to hear everyone is doing OK.

Dorian has been skirting the NC coast for a couple of hours and should be making landfall soon if not already in the barrier islands. Thankfully it is weakening even more. It should start a northeasterly turn after crossing the islands. Stay safe guys.
-
Dorian is due east of Charleston, which appears to be getting hammered. The models show that overnight it will come very close to Wilmington (around 1:00) and then start a northeasterly turn. Also, It still looks to hit the barrier islands of NC.

Though we have not met please accept our condolences and prayers. Your daughter sounds like a wonderful person.

Dorian is now off the coast of Savanna GA as a Cat 3 storm although it is expected to weaken again. The bad thing is that it seems to have slowed down which if that continues we will probably have landfall in the Carolinas. Both GA and SC should be seeing hurricane force winds now. Charleston SC appears to be getting 90+ MPH winds. There are reports of flooding already in GA and SC. Let's pray this thing moves faster and begins its turn eastward soon. I use a site, https://www.ventusky.com, where I can select the model and choose to see various settings like radar, wind speed, pressure etc. Stay safe. Forecast Models

Dorian is currently southeast of JXNVL who should be feeling Tropical force winds by now. They are still under a hurricane warning. By Midday - afternoon the winds could be hurricane force. It will remain off shore. JXNVL currently has light rain and a 15 MPH breeze. Storm surge predictions are much lower this morning for the Jacksonville area and estimated to be under 3'. A friend is riding it out on his boat in a harbor south near St Augustine and he says the winds are 30 MPH or better with a light rain. Dorian continues to weaken and its turn back east may keep it off shore completely. It's still too out to know. Stay safe our coastal Friends.

Dorian is still tracking off shore for FL by 30 - 70 miles. Remember that this thing is 250 miles wide right now. Long range modeling shows it much closer to to the Carolinas and a landfall there is possible Thursday or early Friday. The hurricane will become fatter on its northwest side as it comes up the east coast, so significant flooding may occur even well inland. It remains to be seen how intact Dorian’s wind core will be on its way north, but the storm could potentially still have winds over 100 mph near the Carolinas. Storm surge remains the primary concern. Hopefully the forecast is accurate in that it will be downgraded again to a Cat 2 storm Let's hope for even lower. Stay Safe.
-
Models are still keeping it off shore but they will still have to deal with storm surge, maybe for a couple of days. This thing is going to slow to ~4 MPH tonight. Right now models are pretty inline at about 30 - 50 Miles off shore. There will still be a ton of wind. Tomorrow night and early Tuesday will tell where and how far out this thing will be.
-
Prayers up for all. Right now the path regarding the US is still pretty uncertain with the central path skirting the coast all together. Even if it does it will still be close enough to cause high wind, storm surges, rain and flooding. The Graphic below shows the model runs from 10:00 PM ET tonight. One outlier still shows it hitting FL. The error rate is still pretty high for more than a 2 day forecast. Let's hope for everyone that it just stays out to sea. More than 50 - 75 miles would be best. https://ruc.noaa.gov/tracks/

Do you have any other accounts on the machine? Try those and see if Edge is there. you can also try this by launching powershell as administrator Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml" -Verbose} With MS Abandoning EdgeHTML, which like others has stated is not well liked by most, they are introducing a new version based on the same Open Source code as Chrome called Chromium. This is why Chrome is named the way it is, that and the team at Google thought they were being cute since it relates to shiny and new. Also, I'm worried about Chrome's direction too. Google announced they are working to allow Chrome the ability to edit files on your computer. This is a VERY bad step by them. It will lead to malicious activity and even give nefarious web sites access to all your files they way they currently intend to do this. If you are interested in the new version of Edge base on Chromium here is a link to get it: https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/. I've been using the development version for a few months now. I don't use a lot of extensions to Chrome but my colleagues use a lot and they have said they have no issues. . . . yet.
-
That would be EdgeHTML which MS is abandoning. Edge is the future will be based on the same open source code as Chrome. I found this link but it will depend on the build version of Windows 10 and if it is new enough https://www.intowindows.com/how-to-repair-microsoft-edge-in-windows-10/. The first part of the article is basic fodder, scroll down a little to find the steps. I have not had to do this in the past but to be honest I now manage the techs here and haven't done support directly in quite a few years. Reading through the article though it looks to be a solid process. I have the new Edge Beta installed for testing so I no longer have these options available on my machine to check.

I think your easiest way out of this is the reload then. The windows registry is a fickle and unwieldy beast. CCleaner goal is to try and keep it somewhat under control by removing garbage left in the registry by other programs and such. In general it does a good job.

Cowboy is spot on. I had the same issue on My '06 when I hit about 95K miles on it.
