  1. As an update to the Hybrid mask I mentioned earlier. I've been using it for about a week now and like it more than a standard size that I ordered another yesterday. The full mask gives me a rash on the cheek where it comes up to the nose. That is now going away. I have difficulty breathing through my nose alone for several reasons, like others above it's been broken and probably more than once. It's a little difficult to get the strap tension set right but unlike the full face mask I had I find that a more loose tension actually created a better seal on my face. I toss and turn a lot and this mask seems to make me feel more comfortable. I was off Monday for MLK Day and Sunday night I slept ~8 hours. I can't tell you the last time that happened if ever. I've also gotten a solid 6 hours each night since the switch. For me it works. I bought it from CPAP.com in a kit for ~$135. It comes with the strap, holder and 3 masks. I'm giving this site a plug because the price was near the lowest cost and the mask kit came with a 'Return Insurance'. Basically if I didn't like it I could return it at no cost. Some of their masks you have to buy the return insurance separate.
  2. Let's hope they never have to do what the WWII generation had to do. I do believe that they could, we could, if really put to the task. I am always amazed by the human resiliency and our will to do what is needed. I've seen this in the recent generations more on the lines of natural disasters. I live in Houston now and during Hurricane Harvey the out pouring by everyone, locals or from other states, was awesome to see. It was not just boomers out their, I saw plenty of millennials too. I believe that if another situation of WWII were to come the same people who go out of their way to aid those they do not know will rise to the occasion. I know neither of my boys would hesitate. Remember the rise in enlistments after 9/11.
  3. I didn't have nightmares but high levels of anger. I've seen some stuff more on the inhumane (now that I think more about it, the wrong side of human nature) before I even had a license for a car. BTW I had a motorcycle only license until I was almost 18. This obviously was not in war / combat. There's no way I would ever compare it to that. I had this under control by suppressing feelings in general. But, these started to come back several years ago. It was a time of very high level of stress between work and my home life. I was able to get it back under control, just in a different manner. I've never been in the military as my dad, who was in the Navy during the occupation of Japan, pushed hard for me not to join. This was part of his reasoning even though he would not talk about it. I got involved with a MC 'Group' that was not only on the wrong side of the law but also not in their right minds. I don't look at any of this with regret, well maybe a little as my sons, especially my youngest, struggle with anger issues too. That, I definitely regret passing on to them. There are many things I would do differently if I could but I have accepted that I cannot change these I can only affect when I do in the present.
  4. Look forward to it. I was on a sketchy slope early in life. Before I got married at 20 and a kid by 21, so yeah real young. Early stuff caused a lot of anger issues and I still swear today if it wasn't for my wife I'd be in prison or dead.
  5. It's called the Airfit 30 (https://www.resmed.com/us/en/consumer/products/masks/airfit-f30.html). I just started using it Tuesday of this week. I've spent the last couple of nights tweaking the fit. Last night was pretty good. It fits under the nose and around the mouth. When it is fitted correctly it presses to the bottom of the nose where it has openings for the nasal passages and then comes around the mouth under the lower lip. Much smaller and seems more comfortable. I've had it a little tighter than I wanted the first couple of nights so last night was the first with less tension on the straps. That being said though I just came back from a 10 day business trip where I was putting in 14+ hour days the first 8 days so I was pretty tired the last couple of nights. I can give more feedback after a little more use. BTW I just read its compatible with the mini.
  6. I hope to see you published. I can relate.
  7. Morning Sir, I've been on and off again thinking about the mini for a while. How is the noise level of the machine? Specs indicate it's quite a bit louder than the Airsense 10 I have. The noise of my current one occasionally bothers my wife. As I said earlier in the thread I've been trying one of the new hybrid masks and last night I finally got the tension of the straps set pretty well. So far I like it more than a regular full face.
  8. Man, sorry to hear that. I fortunate to ride to work nearly every day. But, Riding is Therapy. I think I'm going to make that my new tag line.
  9. So I had to be in Boston for 10 days on business and no Bike. Riding to work this morning even though it was a little wet was therapy I needed bad. :Venture:
  10. My Wife and kids complained for years. I was even on a different floor of the house than the kids and they would come to wake / shut me up. I would normally get about 3 hours of sleep a night. The sleep study in of itself is ridiculous. How can anyone sleep at all with a couple hundred wires connected to you. Anyway, I did stop breathing with a lot of regularity. It was either a CPAP or facial reconstruction to correct the problem. I travel a lot and went with the ResMed AirSense 10. It has a humidifier tank and is small enough overall for easy travel. In the bag its about 13"x13"x4". It has worked well for me. Masks can vary from just nasal to full face. I have a beard and the small full faced mask is what I have used for the last 2 years. It comes under my lower lip and up over my nose. I just started trying a hybrid mask that covers my mouth and uses nasal cushions. We will see on this. None of these are comfortable in my opinion but I now get 5 - 6 hours of solid sleep a night and I do feel better. I've also put on too much weight over the last 5 years. Too much food and not enough moving around and I feel it. The problem I have here is pushing the plate away when at restaurants (traveling). It's a thing I have about wasting food.
  11. I'm Jealous. Stuck in Boston on a business trip.
  12. Well written and complete review. Seems you really like the vest and not the liners.
  13. That was cool to watch. The effect was gorgeous. I'm more of a wood guy and made a bit of our furniture. Finally getting to a point where I can work on setting up my garage, 3 car tandem, that I share with my wife's Tahoe and of course the SVTC. I might have to look into some forging down the road a ways though.
  14. [h=2]Gesundheit![/h]
  15. I'm not a collector or even remotely knowledgeable on the styles of knives. I've just been a 'user' all my life. My wife picked this up for me when we were on a ride in Terlingua TX. She says it was made by a local there but is was a Christmas present so I didn't get to ask a lot about it. I do know the handle is alternating Walnut and Antler, the blade appears to be Damascus style to me. Just started watching Forged in Fire so what do I know
  16. You can check the Service manual page 7-84. The manual is here. https://www.venturerider.org/manuals/2018servicemanual.pdf. 'No Normal signals from the switch are received by the ECU.'
  17. I love my 30 06 but it is a heavy rifle. I was able to hunt on a 5000 acre ranch with culling permits for a few years which is why I picked this rifle. I was able to drop a deer at 400 yds with 1 shot 90% of the time. I had to use it in a more wooded area a few times and with those close shots it would destroy a lot of good meat. I too have been considering a lighter lever action though and like the idea of a 30 30 with a good scope. As a side benefit it would be easier to pack on the bike too . Maybe a short overnight hunt, hmmm, now I gotta think about this. I won't have time this season but next year . . . . . .
  18. Happy New Year everyone. We would like to wish you all a prosperous and most importantly a safe and healthy year ahead.
  19. . We had one yesterday here in the Houston area. Both the car and the motorcycle caught on fire. It appears Motorcycle was speeding when the driver of the car made a left turn. It happened at ~3:30 am. It's sad whenever we hear stuff like this.
  20. LOL, I've told that by a lot of people but I call bearings evidence. I was still in HS when a group I rode withe handed me a hand full of #5 (1/2") stone. He called it road debris.
  21. I ride mine just about every day. They only time I don't is if I'm travelling for business or rain chances are above 40% when I'm going to or from work. I'm approaching 11K since I got the bike in late April. My experiences are much different. Most cages give me plenty of room, yes, there are those out there that are nuts but watching for them you can avoid most of them. A few have caught my by surprise. I've been riding in the Houston area now for ~8 years and only 2 real issues. Once a lady was merging on to the hwy in heavy traffic and was just oblivious. not on a cell that I could tell. A truck in the other lane saw what was happening and gave me plenty of room to ride the white line. I did reach over and knock on the driver's window. I thought she was going to pass out ;-). the other time in light traffic a guy in a new Cadillac CTS (still had paper plates) was on his phone texting kept coming over on me. I'd hit the horn and he'd move back and just look at me. The 4th time I kicked his door and dented it in. He move away and stayed away then.
  22. I had a Nexan on my 06 RSV and loved every minute on it. It was great in the torrential rains we get, yes I got surprised on the way home on more than one occasion. I had ~20K on the tire when the fuel pump went out on a long trip. the only shop in the area refused to work on the bike because it has a CT on it. I had to buy an MC for it too. It rode smooth and I had it at 36lbs. I got up to 100 MPH several times with no issues. It just ate up the Highways at 70 - 80 MPH. I now have the SVTC with ~11,000 on it. I will put one more MC tire on it more for warranty concerns but then I will go dark again.
  23. It's always sad to hear but in all honesty if we see anything in the news here about a MC fatality it's normally related to speed of the MC or the car that hits them. I just checked the stats and Texas as a whole had in 418 fatalities or incapacitating injuries on motorcycles 2018. About half were not wearing a helmet as we do not have any helmet laws. There were roughly 8700 accidents that involved a MC in 2017, 490 fatalities. Nearly 75% of the fatal accidents involved the rider being impaired. If you look at the other stats though Texas is 2nd in the country in the number of Fatalities per 10,000 bikes. Florida has the highest fatality rate followed by California, Texas and Pennsylvania. California has the most registered bikes followed by Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. The lowest fatality rates (by 10K registered) are Montana, South Dakota, Alaska, New Hampshire and Minnesota. Here's the link to to an article with 2017 numbers. https://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/which-states-have-the-most-motorcycle-fatalities
  24. Sorry to hear. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately this Christmas has been especially sad for our Friends all over. Several different parents and another friends brother passed all within the last week. Its are tough this time of year when family passes. My father-in-law passed on Christmas Eve day a little over 20 years ago.
  25. Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever tried to 3D print these types of replacements? I personally don't have a 3D printer to try buy I have a friend who uses his for fishing lures and just created a replacement plastic for his Honda.
