  1. I tried a Shinko on my '05 several years ago not sure which model. I started moaning at about 5000 mile because the tread was nearing being worn out. At 5500 miles I was already at the 'replace me strips'. I ordered a Nexan car tire to go dark. After another 500 miles (I have an 80 mile round trip for work) I was on a slick and the Nexan was delivered and installed.
  2. I don't think Paul is on this site but he is on the Facebook Venture / Eluder page. You might want to reach out there.
  3. I agree with Freebird here. I had a dealer approach my RSV shock issue the same way a couple of years ago. Mine was already out of warranty so I replaced it myself after the rubber / sealed area failed a couple of months later. Mine was real clear what was happening by then too. I'd be pushing the dealer hard on the warranty repair.
  4. Mine is the same, 2 - 3 LBS lower on the Infotainment display than the digital gauge. I no longer have an analog or stick gauge.
  5. Not I said the _____. I recognized Vanderhall and was hoping to get some good info as always. Not disappointed either.
  6. Great Videos. The fact that it's an automatic may get my wife back to riding. We'll need to go check it out. She had a Spyder SE for a while but had shoulder issues. You really need to put some shoulder into steering the Spyder and it was causing her pain. With that being front wheel drive I imagine it was as easy as a car to steer?
  7. Not always as a kid as I would always give my helmet to my passenger, now she's my wife. I bought her a helmet after a month or 2 of dating and then always carried it with me. Today We always wear ours. I was convinced on this as a kid, a friend and I were riding wheelies through a field (like we always did) but the farmer had plowed crossed the path to drain some water from a low area. When we hit this new little ditch I set my bike down with no issues but he flipped his back. I walked up to him rubbing his head with the helmet in 2 pieces on the ground. His head hit a rock. If weren't for the helmet he would not have survived that.
  8. We have a dealer in Houston (Macuso Powersports) that carries them in stock. When test riding the new venture early on I almost took one out for a spin. Just not ready for 3 wheels yet.
  9. I'm loving it overall. I picked it up the last week of April 2019 so that's roughly 9.5 months and 12K miles on it. I'm pushing 265 and the seat actually feels pretty good to me right now although I've thought about a Corbin. I'm also short at 5'6 - 5'7 on a good day and the bike just seems to fit better than any other full faring bike I've ridden. I've rented Gold Wings, Ultras and Chieftain/Roadmasters and never felt fully comfortable at a stop as I was on my toes or one foot a lot. But I'm used to that as I've been riding since I was 6. I can have both feet flat with the SVTC. Even though the bike hits 950+ lbs I think t handles more like something around 700+ lbs. I find it pretty nimble and I've scrapped the floor boards a few times and pushed it through some twisties leaning off the seat a few times. I like the way it handles to say the least. The headlight setup with the lower running lights is great in the vast dark of the country areas with no moon light. My wife complains about a lot of wind buffeting above 60 so I'm looking for a wider windshield, maybe with curve at the top. I believe Freebird posted about one earlier so I'll be searching for that thread soon, need to payoff a new roof first. I sit mostly in Touring mode but when I flip the switch the Sport mode is a lot of fun. I really haven't packed it down yet as when we went to Big Bend (2200 mi trip) we had a chase car so I cannot speak to that. 12K on the rear tire is the first time I've ever hit that or even came close on an MC. I'll put one more of the factory tire type on it mainly for warranty concerns and will then look to go dark. I'm looking forward to many many miles on this bike. BTW not sure if anyone follows LonghaulPaul but Yamaha is sponsoring his SVTC and he just passed 100K miles in under 20 months on the bike. Here are his thoughts on Facebook's Venture/Eluder page https://www.facebook.com/groups/781935901987573/?post_id=1490849797762843.
  10. I ran the Nexan on my '06 for 18K miles. I had a wobble at 95, adjusted the tire to 36 lbs and things smoothed out, I never had any roaming issues with the bike. The tire was great in the rain and had excellent stopping power. If I still had the 06 I'd be running another one.
  11. That's riding in Houston year round. I do a lot of travel for the company and have been on the road about 14 weeks spread out through the year with no riding. I pretty much ride in all weather. I just don't ride when rain is predicted at more than 40%, an agreement with the wife. My round trip to work is a little over 80 miles so that where the majority of the riding time comes from. We did 2200 mi trip out to the Big Bend Tx area in early May and had a blast. there's a great road along the Rio that was a lot of fun. Also had fun in the Davis mountains. I was thrilled with 12K on the factory tire. I too am used to about 6K on a read tire. I've put on 3 rear tires a couple of years. Wend dark on the 06 venture and had 18K on it when I broke down on a trip. They would not work on it with a CT so I had to buy an MC too. Sold it soon after that to buy the SVTC.
  12. The nice thing is that it has anti-lock brakes which I've experienced with a dog situation. The Venture Tour Deluxe I had could lock the brakes easily. I think the SVTC does a great job at braking, at lease so far. Is you've mentioned cowpuc I am about to put on the 2nd rear tire after 12K mi (of which I'm impressed with as my experience with my '06 VTD was 7K at best). This one I will do the same rear tire but afterwards I will probably go dark with a run flat. With table lift you should be in great shape with a crib setup after you tie down the front end. I don't have any outriggers on my pitbull jack and once tied down it seams very stable but I like the idea. I have an old bed frame I may be able to make some, need to give that some thought.
  13. This is old but popped up in my YouTube feed again. With some of the new HUD's on helmets today though it seems to have more of an impact. https://www.asphaltandrubber.com/news/crash-proof-motorcycle-behind-the-scenes/
  14. That tells you how long it's been since I bought new
  15. Iron sights can shoot. I actually prefer them up to 60 or so yards. Used to be 100 yards but then I got old
  16. I've done something similar but polar opposite method. When I was 17 I was with a group of riders who paid a visit to a woman and her children who were abused by the father. The goal of the group was intimidation of the father and I'll leave it at that. There's no way I would participate in that fashion today. Based on this story, if their methods are true to the child and not what ours was, then I think it's a good thing. It's a support group.
  17. I came on board last year and couldn't agree more about this group. Good people is what makes a group like this succeed. No If I could get my wife more comfortable on the back. . . . . .
  18. I have the Pitbull Jack which is similar. While it lifted my 06 Venture well I have the same issue with the weight being more in the back of the bike. I normally put a piece of 1x2 under the back side and tie down (with ratchet straps) the front part of the riser before I even try to lift the bike. That seems to help a lot. Then once in the air I tie down to the base of the stand for more security while I wrench on it.
  19. There's a guy on Youtube that takes revenge on Scammers. Search ScammerRevolts. He has what is called a HoneyPot machine setup, basically a disposable setup that can be rebuilt just with a quick reboot. As they're trying to take over he machine deleting files etc he's killing their machine on the back end. Some of these are hilarious. I watched one last week where he changed all the scammers passwords and had the scammer crying and begging to get the password from him.
  20. Love food on the Grill. My 25 year old Natural Gas grill finally bit the dust. We were actually having company and getting ready to start the grill when we found the issue. Ended up breaking out the fire pit and used a cooking grate over open fire using Tulip wood and oak. Steaks and vegetable skewers still came out awesome. Time to start looking at a new one.
  21. I understand what you are saying, and no I'm not terribly surprised by what it could do and by your example still can do. I moved on from that to RBase then DBase multiple proprietary garbage stuff due to need. The company i'm with today uses mostly MS SQL and some MySQL. I had to look up what replaced Q&A because I just didn't remember. It was a product called Sesame. To my surprise they are still around and still support Q&A DB Transition from the looks of it. Support current windows versions and Linux.
  22. I haven't seen that in 25 - 30 years. You know they make other DB's. May be time to upgrade to something in this century
  23. Wow, someone still running 16 Bit apps. I know the 64 Bit version of the OS will run the 32 Bit apps but 16 Bit. What type of app would that be?
  24. The Solitude when Solo and the Peace it gives at all times. Even when things around me on the road are nuts. The attention to detail when riding. I see more because I am part of the environment around me. Overall, It's just so darn relaxing .
  25. Yesterday was a rain out here in Houston. I did get to ride to work today. A little road spray but morning therapy completed and waiting anxiously for the afternoon session.
