What about something smaller that would work for a long trip? a Cigarette connector/battery connector or with a battery. -
Tool Kit

I just checked mine and I have 2. These are of the short variety though. I understand there is a long one on the market. Just don't know if it came with the Venture. -
Great Review. I wear a half helmet now and it's time to look for a replacement. I also use a Cardo unit for riding in groups and the occasional phone call (don't panic guys, all hands free). How would you see the ear pad speakers and front mounted MIC working? Also, Scorpion has a 3-in-1 that can convert from a half to open face to full face. I've tried this one and was not impressed. Latching was metal for the half to open face setup but appeared to be plastic for the chin bar. The chin bar was actually very uncomfortable for me and the Cardo mounting would be a real pain.

Get better soon Boss.

Seems to me a lot of this is common sense stuff. As far as the inciting of Panic: There have been many saying the media does not control the public. So is this the media showing the sheeple how they can be controlled? I had a neighbor come over and say that there were 500 million infected in the US. My response was really? What BS. She replies they just said it on the news. Me: Their lying and to prove it there are only about 350 million people total in the US. Her response was 'You don't know nothin'. I spewed my coffee. What a waste. . . . . . Of good coffee I mean.

Took the long way home yesterday from work. About 4 hours and 200 miles later :-) Beautiful ride from Downtown Houston to Galveston to Freeport riding along the Gulf coast. Then back home to the Katy using back roads. No Coat required. 80 degrees.

This is from a friend of mine, he's a microbiologist.

Wow, I just bought a Reda can last year. I was on my way home Tuesday when I came across a kid pushing an old Yamaha 250. I didn't have the can with me at the time since I only carry it while on longer trips. Turned out his gas gauge was not working so I purchased a 1 gallon can (yes gas too) from the station and gave it to him.

HEB is the largest Grocery Store in Texas. There is one at the entrance to our neighborhood that is easily the largest Grocery store I had ever seen. I rode by this morning and see more activity than normal so I check when I get to work. Lines were already forming and beginning to wrap around the building and most that were interviewed were there to stock up on meat, eggs and bread. Glad I split a heifer with a friend a while back. People have lost their ever-lovin' collective minds.

What no one wants to show is the total number of recoveries. While trying to find this information I came across a West Virginia Government site that had the best charts I found. Consolidated charts based on John Hopkins information. Out of ~137,000 cases reported ~68,000 patients have already recovered. Many Drs I know say the panic is unwarranted. This is relatively mild with similar risk groups as the flu. They are estimating that the actual number of cases is understated but cannot state that with any level of assurances because it is not being reported or tested in mild cases. The Recovery number is understated also but this can be logically deduced that the understatement is just as dramatic if not more so. The number of recoveries are only being sporadically reported and most of the US is not reporting their recoveries.

I'm asking for thoughts and prayers for my Son's Fiancé. On February 21st She was hit head on by someone under the influence. They will be needing funds to get through this terrible situation. To give you an idea of the severity she broke he left femur below the hip and just above the knee, broken lower right leg, broken left wrist, broken ribs, liver, kidney and lung damage. She's lucky to be alive at all. Below is a picture of her car. She is currently in a Rehab facility learning how to use her leg again. She is progressing and feeling better but still in a lot of pain. I started a GoFundMe to help with their bills and will be happy to share it privately with those willing to share on their Social Media. My understanding is the guy had the minimal insurance and is now in jail.

SVTC CB Radio
bpate4home replied to Dhansonrrt's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
I rode home last night with the CB on and I too was getting nothing. I was doing some reading and someone had posted that if the antennas are switched the CB may not work. I find that a stretch but I have had mine off the bike a couple of times to cover it while on a trip. I'm going to switch them and see what happens. -

I don't think other Media has to be off. There is a squelch setting that may be too high. did you hear any static? I'll try to remember to turn mine on when I go home tonight. -
My point is this; A CDC official is not going to talk directly to a nurse just to tell her no. They will deal with a hospital's administration. As far as testing hundreds as I indicated. Look at the cruise ships. The quarantine locations like those in CA and TX. I personally cannot confirm how many tests have been done here in Houston but the area has a population of over 8 million. In San Antonio (population around 1.2 million I think) where there is a quarantine center logic dictates they have performed hundreds of tests in the center alone. We now have cases near where I live and know of a small group that went to Egypt on a trip and some are now showing symptoms. As I've stated before, I have my normal spring cough from allergies and every time I cough in public someone gives me the stink eye. It has gotten insane. People who have no need to quarantined are becoming a shut in calling it self quarantine. I cannot nor will not ever understand this type of fear. Hell I'm afraid of heights and spiders but I work in a high rise and pickup spiders all the time to get them out of the house. Generally all the hype over this is causing undo panic. Now that they've triggered this panic they are trying to calm it. As for me, I will continue to travel for business.

Interesting read. Is it really the Feds blocking it or the locals, Did she talk directly to a CDC official who told her no. I find it a little hard to believe as they are testing a bunch here in Houston because they 'might' have been exposed. You can read all over where they are testing multiple hundreds just due to potential exposure.

Sweet ride. No matter how hard people want to complain about Fords they're good trucks. I'm Jealous. I need to pay the bike off and then get my wife a newer vehicle. We both have older vehicles, a 06 Tahoe with 190K on it and a 03 F150 with 160K on it. My '06 Venture had 105K on it when I sold it. I like triple digits I guess.

Neither my Dad or my Uncle talked about what they saw and did in the war. A couple of my related stories: The first centers on the after effects even decades later. We had a small mobile home that we would use to visit my Uncle in WV. On one such trip we got a flat and after changing the tire and getting to my uncles place we called around to find someone that had the tire in stock and could do the work. We get to the garage and the place used an air impact driver to take off the lugs. When it first hit both my dad and my uncle hit the ground, flat, with their heads swiveling around. I was 13 or so at the time and didn't put 2 and 2 together until I was told why later that day. Second was when I was in HS. I started monkeying around with computers when I was 14. This included a visit to the house by a guy in a suit because I had connected to a gov't computer. Nothing happened other than my Dad telling me to 'turn everything off, NOW'. I was also pretty active in sports with multi year letters in multiple sports. This got the attention of the Draft Sergeants who were all over me to join the various branches. The Draft had been terminated recently so they kept promising all kinds of stuff since I had 'Computer knowledge'. Even said I would be a LT right out of basic. He was adamant that I not sign up at all. Even telling them to get the 'ef' out of our house and off our property. That's one word I don't ever remember him using except then. He basically told me that based on his experience he didn't want me to have anything to do with the military. He was very vocal about 'those bast*** in command'. At times I wish he would have told us more but. . . . .

That was really cool. Makes one wonder, could sound be used as propulsion in space? With that question in mind I used the handy dandy Google and found this from 2004 https://aviationweek.com/new-propulsion-system-uses-sound-waves. There are several other counter points to this but. . . . .

God the K Car. I had 2 of them and couldn't kill those 2. I was in IT consulting at the time and would put 75K mi a year on a car. I bought 1 used with 105K on it and added another 100K In 3 years with the new one I put 190K on it. I had gotten out of consulting while I owned that on but the wife and I drove it everywhere. We couldn't fit 2 additional little humans on the bike I had at the time.

My Dad and multiple uncles were in WWII. My dad and his brother both volunteered and said they knew why they needed to fight, they didn't need a Draft Sargent to tell them why. Also, remember that while some politicians hid their sons from the draft many others did not. Sending your own sons and family cannot be easy. Wow, this is pretty much the extend of my defending Politicians.

Hope your son feels better soon. I travel quite a bit domestically to and this is the start of allergy season here for me. Tree pollen gives me a nagging light cough every year. I lightly coughed into my sleeve on an elevator and the only other person moved as far away as she could. I had to laugh but should've just given her a hug ;-)
