There was 1 guy I've seen bash this site for charging $12 per year. When I asked him how much he made from the advertising he allowed on the group page he went silent. The guy is a shill.

I'm on the Owners Group FB Page and have recommended this site to many.

I was just happy to throw the leg over the bike. Was out of town nearly 5 weeks. Even though it was a quick ride to the grocery store it is good to be home.

I'm right there with you @Freebird. That is just scary. How many of us would have even thought to stick your finger in the hole that quickly. I had a run in with a table saw about 15 - 20 years ago and I remember the feeling of running the first board after that. Luckily I got past it so . . . . . . the image below is what I was working on at the time.

In Albany NY area longingly and wishing I would have brought her with me.

I need new tires, looking for advice.

I went Dark on my '06 using a Nexan CT. I was very pleased with the performance and the wear. I had a break down on a trip and the only place around would not work on it because it had a CT on it. I had 18K on it and still had 3/4 tread remaining. If I would have know how easy the repair was at that time I would have put many more miles on it. -
For the $12 it's not worth either of our time to look into it. Money well spent

I believe I renewed early and got the renewal notice again. Which I did anyway instead of complaining because this site is worth it! Keep anything extra from me and don't extend. You put a lot of work into this site.

Right there with ya @Freebird. @Flyinfool in my case I am a prime member and everything indicated next day delivery. After 3 days I checked and it was sent via USPS with a tracking number. I'm good with that and didn't double check them. After not getting it for a week I see the tracking number and now check to ensure it was not stolen off the porch etc. Tracking number not even showing on the USPS site. call and nothing. So I paid for the faster service and get nothing until I start filing complaints. I have seen this through work too. any little bump in the road is used to justify a delay so they don't have to refund the money. We've had COVID excuses at work from FedEx, UPS and USPS this year. Not good for business.

I had a very similar experience recently with Amazon for a sprinkler system anti-revers flow valve repair kit. They were drop shipping from the seller and even provided a USPS tracking number. It never appeared on the USPS site. Called the post office - nothing. Contacted the mfg (yes was supposed to be direct) and got we are looking into it. - 2 weeks and nothing. Finally posted a bad review on Amazon. It was delivered 2 days later by an Amazon driver.

Post some pic we could share around?

SpeedoHealer on SVTC
bpate4home replied to VentureDog's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Is the speed off on the digital display too? That comes from the GPS and I think that may be accurate. Either that or my early tests with the wife following me in her Tahoe were faulty. -
Well I will be in Albany NY for the month of April (work related). I've been checking around for bike rentals but it appears (or at least what I've found online) they don't start renting until May. I'd ride my SVTC in a heart beat but my wife is coming and she cannot handle that length of a ride. Anyone in the area there have any thoughts? Even ideas on what to do around there. Looks like I will be open most weekends while there.

And . . . . Every one of these set will be missing the 10mm within a month .😂

I say go for it. I had an '06 and put over 100,000 miles on it before selling it. Heard from the new owner 8-9 months later. He had already put another 15,000 on it.

Yes it was cold. Did all Texans die like the MSM is boosting this up to be - no. We weren't home (Houston) during this we were north of here. Our house got hit bad. No power in the neighborhood for 3 days of the coldest weather. Tankless hot water heater had a pipe bust inside but a neighbor caught it early and minimized that damage. When I got home I found a pool pump cracked, an outside spigot busted and the main line to the sprinkler busted. No one had a replacement water heater so I found one online. That was installed today. total cost 1350 for heater and 925 for labor to install (flat fees got me here 1.5 hours of actual work) total ~2300, pool pump 850, misc PVC for me to do the rest of the repairs outside $30. Total ~$3,150. Less than my deductible if I would have filed an insurance claim. A few drywall patches after the dehumidifying is done and we are back to SNAFU status LOL. We were one of the hardest hit by the freeze in our neighborhood according to other neighbors. A couple were hit harder as their water breaks were not caught timely. We were lucky in that we have great neighbors that look after each other.

Hmmmm, I have a Pitbull jack and just use a block of wood. I would like to find a way to extend it to the back of the bike more on the SVTC.

Oh, how time flies...1st ride together in 20 years!
bpate4home replied to circa1968's topic in Watering Hole
I had my MC license when I was 15, I had been riding since I was ~6 and that was 40 years ago. We were also in a rural area so a lot less traffic. I didn't let my sons get their license because we had moved to Houston. Only my youngest is even considering it now because they have seen the nutty driving that happens every minute of every day here. People trying to drive 10 - 20 mph faster than everyone else, weaving and bobbing their way through traffic. Then you have those that are driving 10 - 15 mph lower than the speed limit. These 2 groups are just looking to die on the roads and take someone with them. -
Drink Holder
bpate4home replied to darylbandy's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Interesting. Does the storage door still open without interference from the holder? It also looks from the Pics that a cup may rub the side of the bike? -
You're 100% right that the power system was not ready for this cold. Of the ~54% capacity that was lost 17% was due to wind turbines were frozen. The rest was Natural Gas and Coal plants. They could not keep the supply of NG going due to the cold. This happened about 15 years ago when we moved here and then again about 10 years ago. At that point they said they mitigated the issues. Yesterday a power company exec said the systems here are not designed for this cold and after looking into it they said it was too costly. For me that is neglect. I pay for a product that comes from a monopoly regulated by the government. They should be held liable for any death of someone who was not able to (physically or mentally) that died. They should be held liable to a degree for all the damage caused by them not providing power. On the flip side - people need to take care of their own issues when it comes to staying warm. A company or government cannot take care of you better than you can. They cannot manage your situation better than you can. I believe if you did not do this and it was not extenuating circumstances then you are responsible. For example, we had a pipe break in our water heater. We had made arrangements for neighbors to check on our house during this since we were not going to be home. They came over a couple of times a day. They found the broken pipe and shut off the water main to the house. They had no power and still were checking on our house. There are people in our neighborhood that were home and didn't even know where to turn off the water to their house when needed. That's on them.

When I moved to TX the guy buying our house in Northern OH wanted my grill. It was his sticking point. I took him into the garage and showed him my 36" 2 stage snow thrower. Said he could not have my grill. Look at that driveway (3 cars wide and ~50 long) do you want to shovel that or will the snow thrower do? needless to say I kept the grill LOL.

Thanks. They are doing surprisingly well. Son had left foot surgically repaired and left leg immobilized because of broken kneecap. Boot on right foot with 1 broken bone there and 8 broken ribs. Daughter in Law didn't have broken bones but was released then readmitted due to pain. She pulled her oblique muscles from the pelvic bones. She gets out of rehab today. We will be trying to get them to their house on Saturday weather permitting. We will definitely vouch for the Hyundai Santa Fe Safety ratings.

We are in central TX because my son and his wife were in an accident and just found out we had a waterline break in the house. Luckily neighbors shut off the water.
