No, this is not an advertisement for the Matrix Rover trailers. I bought one of these things last spring and I thougt I would pass on my observations. In short, I love it. Just returned from a twelve day trip with wife and full trailer, no baggage on the bike except for a flat line soda cooler. Before we got the Matrix rover go we would go on a trip with all the usual plus about 50 lbs of gear in the trunk and on the luggage rack, it was OK but, yes a little top heavy to say the least. I find that with all the luggage in the trailer the bike handles better, there is no noticeable handling differance with or with out the matrix rover and no top heavy bike. In short , although we can put all the luggage on the bike, I like hauling the trailer and an empty bike better. one just has to plan on where to park so you don't have to back up, unless your like some of us, that can do it, and make it look easy...otherwise you can't tell you are hauling it. and the matching paint job, really sets the bike apart from other ventures Sorry

Metzler ME 880 upgrade
Brake Pad replied to 920shrek1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Okay the 880 (180 on the rear) I replaced last year got almost 16,000 on it. I replaced both last week, with the same set up again. at 15,600 miles i started felling slipage. the tire wasn't bald, but it was getting close. Living In florida, we only have flat roads, so of course, the center tread was gone first. -
w00t, finally! Milage!!
Brake Pad replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I found I got the best milage, when climbing the hills of NC & SC. as soon as i hit the flat lands again, the milage went from 48 to 42 -
I'm thinking if I showed up, Id, need a complete overhaul by the time I got there 1275 miles one way.

I traded my 04 roadstar in on the venture. I missed the roadstar big time. should have just kept both.

Disappointed with the 2010 RSV
Brake Pad replied to Deacon's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Maybe the guy that built the RSV's retired, and no one wants to try to fix this OUT DATED BIKE!!!!!! Question? do the people in Japan, Still use cassette players? I think its the biggest joke on the American people -
Last summer, My wife & I were traveling back from St. Austine Florida. We were on I-95 South bound, when going through a construction zone, the back of the bike started bouncing, we got a slap noise, about 3 or 4 times, then it stopped, then something, bounced off the trailer. (but the trailer was loaded, maybe 350 LBS) We couldn't find anything wrong. after arriving home 120 miles later, we found the rear Metzel chucked on us. about the size of a softball (5 inch circle) just off center tread But now thinking about it, If the trailer wasn't there, I wonder what the outcome would have been?

What is the farthest distance you have ridden in one day?
Brake Pad replied to Yama Mama's topic in Watering Hole
1076 in 26.5 hours pulling this thing -
I was impressed by the way, everyone talked, No bashing, or crying about wants wrong. whats wrong here is, we ride our bikes to dealth, and yep they break down. just like everything else we own.. Do we Love our Venture's ? Yah.... I guess we do...... Is the MFG. going to try and fix anything with the ventures?...... No, Why?...... they offer a 5 Year warranty, They don't need to............. you'll continue to ride your venture, knowing it has that 5 year warranty Just like me........ would I buy another bike???? I don't no.... will I get a 5 year warranty with it? Most likely NOT!!!!

years back like 1985 or so, honda came out with this stuff called monoglubinate 80 we called it green SH*T, came in a little plastic bottle about 4 oz., you could run your engine on it, without oil. not that I would try it, but if added to the oil, made the engine run at 100% all the time.

venture has no heating option
Brake Pad replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Wiggle town, yah, I know that place, Thats were the men are men and the women are men!!! Yah wiggle town, I know that place its were the men are men and sheep are nervous You no its an odd thing about the cold, And tell me if Im lieing. deep divers, and cold weather runners, would apply a coat of vasoline to there skin to keep warm. Years back, while winter diving in Florida, the water temps would get down to the lower 60's, which was very cold for us. we'd freak out the out of town divers, and apply vasoline to our skin, before putting on the water suits. Now diving, it kept you toasty, but when you returned to the boat, the out of towners, would freeze, while we would sit there, in 80 degree heated wet suits. we carry a small jar, for around the chin and exposed face areas. go ahead a laugh, the S**T works -

My first 880 chuncked at 3500 second chuncked at 7000 (120 miles from home pulling the trailer) that was fun. but I bought the Marathon 180 for the rear, and haven't had any problems YET!!!! -
