1. FYI Well after taking a short ride yesterday and today its snowing and 25 degrees colder. I decided to check on insurance. I have had Progressive for 16 years but when I turned eligible for Medicare a few years back things changed. Bluecross nor Medicare will cover any medical on a motorcycle if I hit a deer, run off the road or have any accident. Comprehensive does not cover you or your passenger unless you are involved with another vehicle. Any Motorcycle Insurance Co. will not cover you for medical only your bike if you have an accident that does not involve a vehicle. I did not know this till yesterday. You have to purchase what they call medical expense. 10.20.50, or 100k. Your choice if you think you want it. I think I do, so asked Progressive to quote me a policy for both bikes I own. (1 year) $1254.00 that includes 50K Medical for both bikes total. I have a quote from Allstate today for the same coverage, $760. a year for both bikes. $500. deductible Collision/Comprehensive. If you have a trailer you pull. It will not be covered unless you pay extra. I always thought it would be like a automobile. If it was hooked to your car it was covered. You also have to make sure you have "Guest Liability" in other words a passenger. It cost $8.10 extra on the Venture and $5.97 on the Honda ST. Go figure. I got educated and hope this will help some others out on this sight. If in doubt. Ask your insurance agent. Don't trust me. I have checked with four different insurance agents today. All were the same. It makes a difference if you have Medicare.

Road Today

Here in Michigan it got up to 53 in the Detroit Metro area. I had Rick Buttler do my seat on my Honda ST1300 just this week. I got to try it out for a short ride of only 50 miles today. In that amount of time I could tell it was better than stock. Thanks Rick. I will report back on a longer ride. Temperature is already dropping from this morning. 42 and strong winds are hitting us now.
3. The sight went down, The sight went down! Just when I was gonna give away my. The sight went down.
4. Thanks for the link. That sure took me back in time. I came back from overseas in 1969 and was stationed in the high desert in California. George AFB. My very first bike I bought was a Honda 305 Scrambler and that was my only transportation. A guy kept after me that he wanted that bike but I would not sell it. He finally said he would trade me his 1964 Dodge 4 door car for it. I did it. Drove that car for a year traded it in for a 1965 Ford Pick-up. I found a Heathkit Stereo set in the dump on base and traded it for a 100cc Hodaka. I would ride that bike all over the desert for miles and miles. I also got my hands on a 650 cc Triumph. I wrecked that out in the desert by jumping over some sand dunes. It had a little more power then that the 100cc:starz: Anyway sure wish I had all three of those bikes and that 65 Ford.
5. Amen brother. Praise The Lord. I sent you a private message,
6. Glad you both are doing fine. May The Good Lord bless you both. Have a very Merry Christmas.
7. As long as I have my Venture I can't imagine not being on this sight. I bought my bike new in 2004 and joined here in 2005. I have learned many things on our bikes through the years and that has slowed down because of the age of the bike and me. Been there done that and had that happen already. I don't get to excited about what to look for or add to the bike because if I wanted it I got it thanks to all the info from this sight. Do I keep adding goodies to the bike? Not much to add on that I want anymore. It is still a great looking bike. Still get many complements on it from people I don't know. I have enjoyed the many Maintenance Day's at Don's through the years. It has always been fun. Just keep on keeping on. Thanks Don and may everyone have a Merry Christmas.
8. That is not many miles at all for an 03 but if you want to really look it over to get a better price. Look underneath at the rear shock to see if it is leaking. They are known to give out. Check the tires for wear and date. Other than that you will find out in 90 days if all things work. Don't really know if that price is good or not. Does seem a bit hi. Have fun shopping and dealing. They are a great bike.
9. This is just an up date on Chad Wolf killed while on duty with The Michigan State Police. Chad was dragged underneath a trailer for 4.1 miles after a 72 year old man ran into him making a turn onto I-75 in Michigan while Chad was on duty with his motorcycle . This is what they have going on now to raise more money for his wife and 4 kids. Wolf and his family were active members of Great Lakes Baptist Church in Holly where he served as a youth minister. Erin is a school teacher. • At WCSX-FM 94.7 radio, staff are holding auctions to raise money for Wolf’s family. All donations will go to the GoFundMe account set up to support the family –– including a personally autographed guitar from Bob Seger. The auction runs for the next nine days at http://wcsx.com/guitar-auction-benefit-family-state-trooper-chad-wolf/ Other items include: • Autographed guitars from Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Eddie Money and Burton Cummings • Paul Rodgers autographed album and tour book • Autographed package from the Detroit Pistons that includes autographed Andre Drummond jersey. Just info in case anyone is interested.
10. Glad it worked for you.
11. Chad Wolf "Michigan State Trooper" was laid to rest yesterday from a motorcycle accident while on duty. His wife and family were very good friends of my family. His wife and my oldest daughter were the best of friends all through school. What a tragedy. He was a very good guy.
12. A prayer has been said from T.J for you and your wife Kenny.

Road today

The roads were wet here in Michigan today as they predicted. I went into the garage while it was raining this morning and stood there looking at the bikes and decided to go. I dressed for the occasion and chose the Honda ST 1300. It is easier to clean. 200 miles later I returned home. Got rained on pretty good & wind blown but enjoyed the ride in spite of the weather. Sometimes ya just got a ride. Any who, on the way back I stopped at the new Harley Dealer in Lapeer Mi. and had some pulled pork, chicken, & coleslaw. Man it tasted good. Looked around inside and finally made it outside and saw this bike. Just had to take some pictures. Still raining out.
17. I was interested but that would make it difficult for me to make it anywhere. I get off work at 4:30 P.M. I had to use that word "work" didn't I. Maybe in another two years I will be able to so call retire. Have fun what ever you do and enjoy the trip through Michigan. The fun route would be the Lake Michigan shore line. Start just south of Mackinaw City over to Cross Village "Legs Inn" for a bite to eat. Then down 119 thru Harbor Springs and pick up 31 and take it all the way down if ya wanted to. That would take you right by Puck's place. Enjoy the time on the road. It is a great feeling.
18. Hello Puc, I hope the weather is great for that special day:sun: and the tears will not burn your eyes too much. It was good to have meet the three of you in my short visit.

Our Trip

We had a trip planned during FreeBirds Maintenance Day. We were going to head to Virginia and stop by Don's on the way but the weather changed that. Get your Michigan map out before reading this. Because of the weather report for the Eastern part of the U.S last week we went to plan B, in the U.P. We left Oxford at 6:30 a.m. Saturday and drove across state to Manistee. Picked up Hwy. 31 to 22 and followed it all the way up and back down to 31 again. 31 all the way up to Charlevoix around to Harbor Springs to 119. By the time we got into Mackinaw City it was 10:00 with 450 miles behind us. We started out with (5 riders) ran into rain around Gladwin up to Frankfort before it stopped. Turned a little cold on us but not bad. Sunday morning in Mackinaw the one guy called it quits and headed back home. He was riding a BMW. Two other riders backed out because of the rain forecast for Saturday and were going to leave Sunday. It rained and they never went anywhere. The rest of us headed up to Sault Ste. Marie. (Two Gold Wings, a Kawasaki Concours, and my Yamaha Venture). From the Sault we headed to White Fish Point, Grand Marais where I have a niece that took us on a 2 hour tour around her place. We all road in a 4 wheel drive pick up for that. From there we headed on H58 through Munising and spent the night in Ishpeming of 41. Monday morning we headed on up to Copper Harbor and spent most of the day touring around the Copper Country and headed back down to Hwy. 26 to 45 and spent the night just the other side of Ontonagon off Hwy. 64. We stayed in a real nice Motel/Cabin place in the country. Had a fire pit so I built a fire and two of the guys ran back into Ontonagon and got some hot dogs and the fixings. We sat around the campfire, roasted hot dogs, talked till Midnight then went to bed. Tuesday morning we were on the road (Hwy.64) by 8:30 and headed to Porcupine Mtn. We walked to the lookout where we could see the Lake of The Clouds. Nice place if you have never been there. From there we headed into Ironwood taking Hwy. 2 into Wisconsin before heading south back on around heading East till we picked up 41 to Hwy. 2. Long day but we crossed the big Mack 10:00 at night and stayed in Mackinaw City that night. Once we got settled in and unloaded we went to a place called "Dark Sky Viewing" just outside of Mackinaw City to the West. Great place to view the stars. We found a spot to lay down on our backs in the grass and watched the stars and Satellites go by. Felt like a bunch of kids for sure. Got back to our Motel around Midnight. Wed. morning we started back home the long way. Down 23 to 33 all the way to Sterling. ate lunch and back home. Total of 1850 miles. No miss hap's just good times. It all ended way too soon. Great weather all the rest of the way after Saturday's rain. I was the oldest by 25 up to 35 years difference. Just thought I would share.
21. Keep up with the hard work Kat. It is worth it. I really had to look at the before and after pictures to see if it was the same person. Good job.
22. Puc, I bet it had to do with the ride on the ST that gave you a boost. I am glad that you are still improving. P.T.L.
23. Well this morning I mowed and weed wacked for the first time this season before going into the garage to take the front wheel off the ST and get the tire changed out. The tire a "Dunlop" was flat as a flat tire can get. After getting it off the bike and taking a closer look, I might just have hit something in the road that caused the injury to the tire. I don't blame the brand for any of that. What timing for all this to happen. Could have been on the way, could have been when puc was riding, could have been so many different scenarios and none very good at all. I am very thankful I made it home. Puc, thanks again for a good time and the "Ham" sandwich":p I will remember it always. Not the sandwich, but the visit with you.
