  1. Yes, I'm very particular with everything especially the tank. I've pulled many goldwing tanks and soaked with evapo rust , then rinse. The evapo rust even cleaned the sending unit back to original state. It appears as though this yamaha has a similar design to the goldwing. I.e. Tank under seat, linked brake lines, etc etc. Japanese design I guess. thanks for the heads up.
  2. I was thinking the same. Might have to soak gas tank too . I'm curious to see how many miles she has!
  3. This is the part I really enjoy. The good news is it appears to have been stored inside too. I've restored many goldwings but this will be my first venture and I think it's a gorgeous machine !!
  4. thank a bunch for this info. I found another pic on his ad that reveals royale emblem. I'm 2 hrs from the bike and can only get to see it on my vacation time in a few weeks. I'm really excited! Here's another pic.
  5. Okay thanx, so based on the pic of my future bike I posted, this is an 83 royale? How is the royale different from the venture? And is this a royale for sure ?
  6. Thanx. $12 yearly is peanuts with all the professional help available, or I might clean her up, change fluids, rebuild carbs, clean gas tank and take her for a spin, either way, I'm happy I've found this site. You guys appear to be nice and very willing to help. How do I pay my fee?
  7. There is no way I could do this !! Way out of my league.
  8. Update !! He accepted the $500 will pick up in a few weeks. Get ready !! Will need everyone's help. xmas comes early for me !!
  9. Okay, here is my goldwing. I spent a year rebuilding.
  10. Who thinks he should take the $500. I think that's a reasonable offer considering it hasn't ran in years and the 2nd gear is out.
  11. Are you keeping a detailed list of expenses?
  12. Ingenuity is always a plus . Well done !
  13. Beautiful work, well done !!
  14. Wow, impressive work. I might be doing this soon.
  15. Wow, beautiful bike. I have an update. I am not going to trade my goldwing. I really was not thinking clearly since I'm starstruck on this yamaha. After some words of wisdom on this forum, I have offered him $500 and he is thinking about it. Will keep you posted. Hope he accepts. i really want this bike !!
  16. Wow, that's impressive. The right mirror is busted !!
  17. Okay, thanks again. I will keep everyone posted on what happens. In the meantime, I'm going to do a little more research and study what has been said here , going into this . chow for now.
  18. Here's another pic reveal of 1300 that he claims is an 83.
  19. Stranger. I have not seen the bike. Will check it out in a few weeks. He claims the po before him had it for a long time and he has not had it for very long. In his ad the bike is what you guys call here a blonde, so it's the cream colored two tone but has 1300 on chrome cover. He says it's an 83. I don't believe it runs and he is going to check the mileage on it when he gets back to his storage. He lives 40 min from where he has it stored.
  20. Thanks for the info. In his pics he sent me, the chrome part on side of engine shows 1300 and he says it's a 1300 , so what year is it? Or as mentioned above, did someone change clutch cover with 1300 on it?
  21. Nice skills , especially for such a large bike. Well done. First video very cool. That's what I want to do someday. Break the redundancy of everyday grind and explore. I'm fortunate to have the summers off , so no excuses for me.
  22. I really want the venture. He says its a 1300cc but i thought the 83 was a 1200cc?
  23. I have looked and looked and cannot find an 85 with correct serial #. This deal would be really nice, as I will be trading straight across. I have a restored 1980 Gl1100 goldwing that i'm willing to part with. probably put around $1500 into it but I'm ready for the yamaha.
