  1. For concealed carry I have a Kel-Tec P11 9mm. Hides easily in wasteband and is comfortable. My wife prefers our S&W .40 Sigma as she carries in a special pocket in the end of her purse that has a built in holster. At the range she prefers shooting it over the Kel-Tec also. It's heavier and she doesn't have to control the recoil as much. We also have a 9mm Sigma, a S&W Victory 38 revolver, a 1894 32-20 Colt revolver. When in Oklahoma I can open carry the Sigma with no problem, it's just harder to conceal, especially on a motorcycle and be comfortable for many miles.
  2. Where can you purchase one of these balls?
  3. Does anyone have a photo the forward attachments looking down or forward to show exactly where it fits? I have the picture attached looking in but nothing showing how it fits on the bolt.
  4. The vacuum hose at the actuator has a crack in it allowing it to leak and drop the cruise off. Is there a way to get to the hose and cut it off or replace it without removing the fairing? I was able to get one finger on the hose and feel the crack but couldn't see how to get to it.
  5. Fun site.
  6. I bit the bullet and bought a Rick's high output stator since I had to get the bike back on the road and hadn't been able to get in touch with Skydoc_17 about his that had failed. Got it installed today and now have good voltage. 13.5 at idle with everything on, radio, driving light, high beam. This is better than the one that failed did new.
  7. I have given up on hearing from him and just ordered a new stator from Rick's as I need to get the bike back on the road.
  8. I still haven't been able to get in contact with Earl (Skydoc17) about my defective stator.
  9. Those were my first checks before checking wiring and connections.
  10. Have 1990 Venture. The CB comes on, it transmits and receives, but the volume is so low you can hardly hear it. Have checked all connections and they appear fine. When you turn on the CB, you hear it come on but volume is very low. The squelch works normally. Any ideas? The AM/FM and cassette have normal volume.
  11. My voltage problem is getting bad. Now I don't get more than 11.9 volts at 4000 rpm, about 11 at 2000 and 9.9 at idle. I unplugged the stator wires and hooked up ac volt meter. At 2000 rpm I get right at 15V AC across 2 of the leads. The 3rd one only has 7.5 V AC, engine basically cold (5 minutes run time). I checked between the windings and getting about 3.5 to 4.5 ohms between any two. Also checking to ground none show a short. It is to the point it doesn't matte if the engine is cold or hot. At first it was when it would get hot the voltage would drop like this. I bought the stator and regulator through Sky_doc and installed in early April. Yesterday morning it was 55 degrees. It was putting out 13.5 volts until about 10 miles (when bike got warmed up), then it fell on it's face and dropped to 11.5 max-at 4K rpm. I have a digital voltmeter connected. Factory meter was showing down between 12 and yellow mark. This morning it was 62 degrees. It was putting out only 13.2 volts for about the same distance and then fell to 11.8. At idle it went down to 10.1. Apply brakes and it would drop into the 9.5 range and factory meter drops in to top of yellow. I may have to bite the bullet and order a stator from Rick's.
  12. I saw on a post here somewhere that Kawasaki sells the plugs for less than half what Yamaha wants for them. The vacuum hose trick is much cheaper though. A short 3/16 screw with some RTV will work in the place of the ball bearings and won't get sucked into the engine.
  13. I put a small piece of velcro, self sticky pile type over mine. Works good. Volume still comes up and down with speed like it did without it.
  14. This morning it was 55 degrees. It was putting out 13.5 volts until about 10 miles (when bike got warmed up), then it fell on it's face and dropped to 11.5 max-at 4K rpm. I have a digital voltmeter connected. Factory meter was showing down between 12 and yellow mark. Still haven't heard from Earl.
  15. Will the stator from a 99 or 03 Royale Star Venture fit a 90 Venture Royale? What years and models are interchangeable with the 90?
  16. I emailed him about a stator that apparently has failed after 3 months (low votage on one output wire -half of other 2 wires-and only 11.9 VDC max at 4K RPM. Waiting to hear back from him.
  17. Yes, all connections clean. I mounted the rectifier on the bottom side of the rear trunk where it can get plenty of air. I am using an aftermarket dash mounted digital meter and comparing it to a high dollar calibrated digital handheld meter. I guess I need to contact Skydoc since it is his parts.
  18. Have brand new stator and regulator from Skydoc. Connections are all new except at battery, however they are clean and look new. When the bike warms up to close to fan operating temp (we are having temps in the 101 to 111 range so it warms up quickly and I drive one way 18 miles) the voltage drops to around 12.1 (measured at the accessory connection so digital meter isn't on all the time). At idle it will drop to closer to 10.5 to 11 volts). After shutting off bike and just turning key to accessory position the voltage will show about 12.3.
  19. At first I used the FRAM that came with the kit but went to the Purolator Pure One. The Purolator Pure One is one of only a very few that is approved by Cummins for use in their diesel engines (which I have 3 of and used the Purolator filter from the time they approved it. Every oil analysis shows this filter is working better than even the Dodge or Fleetguard filters.
  20. Following state website has several rides that are good. http://www.arkansas.com/outdoors/motorcycling/hot-spots/
  21. Look at LApolicegear.com. They have boots on sale quite often. I have 2 pair from them and they are really comfortable and side zip.
  22. Mine says it has been removed or deleted.
  23. Charged the battery overnite with a 2 amp charger that goes to zero when battery gets charged. It was showing 12.6 volts. Let it sit all day in the back of my truck and took it to Autozone. They tested it and it showed only 74% charge remaining. I went to Advance Auto and bought thier equivalent to the DEKA battery (same part number, CCA, size and warranty). I have only driven it one day and it appears to be better (40 miles roundtrip). Voltage is still only going up to about 13.5 at 4K rpm. Outside temp was 102. After shutting it off for 5 minutes, it started right up (no slow cranking) (voltage was showing 12.3 in the accessory position before starting). We will see after a few more days as it's supposed to be in excess of 100 degrees for the next week (so far we have had 17 days in a row of over 100 degrees). By the way, used the code VISA online and got a $30 discount, so with taxes it was &74.11 and picked up at local store.
  24. Purolator L10193 and Mobil 1 M1-105 fits the Rivco adapter also. I use the Purolator. Purolator is about the only filter (others than Cummins and Dodge) that is approved for the Cummins diesel in my trucks. If it's good for them, then it must be good for the Yamaha. These part numbers come from a 1980 Chev LUV 4cyl (crossed Fram #back to actual vehicle).
