  1. Hi Made2Care just bought a 88 1300 had it shipped weight was 225lbs including a makeshift pallet Cant go wrong with an engine Hoist it is one those pieces of equipment that does not get used alot but sure is handy when you need it. FYI do you have an Engine stand? stay posted I have figured out a way to mount these V4's securely to an Automotive engine stand just need to build the adapter. I will post it in the tech section with pics once the frost is off the steel. Hermank84VR
  2. Hi Coolwind57 I have plans to remove my Collector and split the exhaust 4 into 2, left side Y pipe, right side Y pipe, as I have a brand new set of 02 Roadking pipes donated to me by a good friend. he bought the bike and had the screamin eagles installed before he drove it out of the showroom. he still has the bike. I found a source in Ont,Canada that sells mandrel bent SS exhaust tubing, a cut here , nip there should be able to fabricate something with a mig and cutoff tool. I will post some pics when I get at it likely fall as I prefer to feel the wind in my face when its warmer LOL HermanK84VR
  3. I haven't Cut the Venture pipes apart yet but when I split my 1984 Virago exhaust, the front header pipe was double walled, the inner pipe was about 1/4 smaller in diameter. from what I have been told they do this to keep more heat within the exhaust pipe to help it exhaust quicker it is the same theory applied when using pipe wrap on your headers. the quicker the exhaust exits the quicker it can inhale the next Charge= better performance and MPG. so likely the dents will not have much affect. 4. Hi Dano and Squeeze I picked up an 88 1300 engine to put in my 84 VR and will be pulling it apart to refresh all the gaskets verify all tolerances and install a set of VMax heads. Since I will have everything apart now would be a good time to upgrade the starter clutch. Are you still doing these starter clutch Mods? I am in NB Canada but have a US shipping Address in Maine I can use to save a bit on shipping Cost. Can you contact me on costs and availability? I do not need any gaskets as I have a full set to perform the teardown/rebuild thanks HermanK84VR
  5. Hi Coolwind57 Have you pulled the hoses off to inspect the fitting on the reservoir and MC , is barbed on both? it could be possible to make a steel line to fit? you have a few potential leak points in that setup even eliminating a couple would ease the mind, just my 2 cents. Hermank84VR
  6. Hi Made2Care Great find on the Bike and Donor Frame! By the looks of your 3 completed restores , Like me , you enjoy wrenching as much as you do riding beautiful job on all 3, I noticed on the GL1100 you replaced the 4 carbs with a single VW carb and Manifold, VTC Motors?? I did the same upgrade to my 84 Virago 500 with a Mikuni VM34 , best conversion I did, FYI, VTC motors also has a 4 to 1 Manifold for the Venture along with the VW pict 34 Carb (new). I just got my 84 Royale Blonde/gold before Christmas, and it came with a complete 84 torndown venture as a parts bike that only has the 2nd gear issue. I plan on fixing the donor bike to sell to recover some costs. There is a wealth of info and Experience on this forum I have spent many hours reading thru the tech tips , upgrades & fixes. A big shout out to the many members who contribute on a regular basis to the site Especially Cowpuc for his technical contribution. Fortunately mine just needs a good Carb overhaul to getting riding this year, the fun will be this fall stripping it down to do a full restore/upgrade. I will check back on your progress of your rebuild so keep us all updated, Good luck Brother keep it Fun! Hermank84VR
  7. Hi Adventurer 08 Could you post the Part Number for the 4 brush Starter? Thanks Hermank84VR
