  1. Thanks Redneck, that makes sense. I went with a much heavier wire than stock so I'm sure it will be fine. I'm not a wiz on electricity and wondered if going to 12g might be overkill. Can you actually use too heavy of a wire for the amount of power going through it? Isn't some resistance a good thing?
  2. Well, I'm a bit confused then. I used 14g wire that is rated to 17 amps and 204 watts. I ran this through a relay as described here and is protected with fuses. Is there really a need to go to heavier wire? I don't know what stock Yamaha passing lamps draw, but I replaced all the wiring supplied with the lamps and it was much lighter than 14g.
  3. I used 14 gauge for mine. Why is 12 gauge better?
  4. Too bad there aren't more pictures. I imagine the "after" shot would be a good one!
  5. I woke up to 11 degrees here. Man, you guys in the South sure know how to rub it in!
  6. Well, there is one "fact". The biker was shot in the back. Spin it anyway you want but I think the father is going to spend some time in jail for it.
  7. sleeperhawk, that is a pretty good magazine. Probably the closest to what I want to read.
  8. Your a tricky fella KiteSquid! But you are right, this is the best place to get great information on our bikes. I have yet to see a magazine that has good information on Metric Touring bikes.
  9. Well that was BS! Another reason why you should avoid road rage if possible. Especially while riding a motorcycle.
  10. I'm still fixating how warm it is down South! This is what we have in Indiana
  11. It's been a good 20 years since my last bike. Now, my riding style has changed dramatically since I was a knucklehead kid. I didn't want a race bike and have no desire to drag my knee around corners anymore. I think the the article doesn't take into account the fact that older riders tend to be more cautious. I wonder what the stats are on young men and accidents with high powered sports bikes?
  12. I saw that one too. I see these on E-Bay every once in awhile.
  13. Wow, the stuff really works! I'd carry it in my first aid kit but I don't see full on arterial bleeds very often, even when I was volunteering for an ambulance. Is there a shelf life for the stuff?
  14. I agree about the advertising. I thought I wouldn't have to deal with that since I'm paying for the service. Well, I'm sticking to XM because of the baseball channels. BTW, weren't they going to merge anyway?
  15. We had temps in the 40's today but there was too much snow on the ground to ride. ....
  16. Funny how taste differs in motorcycles. I hate the looks of the Victory Vision. Looks like a capable ride though.
  17. My leather jacket with a liner is very warm. A ski jacket is warm as well but doesn't provide any protection.
  18. Don, Great site! I've learned alot since joining and really enjoy the camaraderie. Thanks!
  19. Almost covered. The Moon is getting orange. Wish I had a telescope so I could see Saturn. I guess during the eclipse you can see the rings better.
  20. Clear skies here. Moon is partially covered.
  21. I'll be buying some of these shirts!
  22. Congratulations! How bout some pictures...
  23. Mariner Fan

    Thanks

Those are really nice bikes! I'm sure your gonna post some pictures for us to see. .
  24. I think they have something similar in Oregon in regards to large vehicle tax increases.
  25. White boots are probably one of the best made. They can be rebuilt many times over.
