  1. I'm sure you will like it Skid. I put one of those on my old Suzuki GS1000. Really helped stabilize the front end in hard turns.
  2. You are a lucky man indeed. You have a wonderful family, and you still have enough hair on your head to need a barber!
  3. This is what I got. http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=DNDWPT3&s=dhs
  4. I guess it depends on how you use it. We have a really nice desktop that can handle anything we want. Our now defunct laptop was a high ticket item 3 years ago. We soon found out that the only thing we used it for was the convenience of having a computer downstairs and for trips. We had an overbuilt computer for just checking e-mails and playing on the internet.
  5. Well I had a long talk with our IT guy. My laptop was top of the line 3 years ago and now is a paperweight. Lucky for me, I can still get my saved files from it. I ended up buying another Dell. They had a sale on and I bought it. The funny thing was the XP models ended up costing 150 bucks more than the Vista. So, I bought the sale unit with Vista and 3 gb of memory. Only had to pay 600 bucks for it. Since these seem to have a short life I figured I'd just get a basic one. Thanks for the advice, Bob
  6. I believe his friend was riding a Harley Road Glide. They rode down together.
  7. I'll check that out. The computer guys said that they did hook it up to a monitor and it did the same thing only it took longer to black out. Mac eh? Hmmm, never thought of that.
  8. I guess my laptop is toast. The screen just decided to shut off after about a minute. I started it back up and it does the same thing. Took it to a repair shop and they said the motherboard is starting to go out. I think Ruth is feeling abandoned since I have to go upstairs (we have a desktop in the den) to yak on VentureRiders. Has anyone bought a laptop lately? I mainly use mine to surf the internet, download our pictures, and music for the MP3 player. Guess I need to re-educate myself on what all those specifications mean. I have a Dell laptop that is about 3 to 4 years old. Doesn't the new Vista operating system eat up a lot of memory?
  9. Boy, that's the truth. My wish list has grown!
  10. Some units only require a 5 or 6 volt power supply. The delphi Roady is one that requires less voltage. The cigarette lighter style plug is designed to reduce the voltage to the unit. Have you checked the specifications to your sirius?
  11. Don, Thanks so much for your hospitality. I had a great time seeing all the bikes and meeting a few more Venture Riders. Wizard, great meeting you. Hope to get up to Canada sometime. Eck, I'm still laughing about the way you harassed that poor waitress. Bob
  12. A few more pictures. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3172/2561092781_870b3051ab.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3152/2561091541_d912a4899f.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3145/2561915502_caa3b9dde2.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3153/2561916786_e917dbdb4a.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3161/2561917572_d45141e8f0.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3140/2561094863_e5b9c0da2a.jpg
  13. It's hot and windy here today. Still looks like we are going to get rained on going up to Oberlin tomorrow.
  14. We are hoping we don't have to test our rain gear on the way to Don's.
  15. When are you heading out Lynn?
  16. I'm not leaving until Saturday morning. I'm probably going a different direction than you as well. I'm going up I-69 to I-80.
  17. Man those exhaust pipes are ugly!
  18. Thats good. I've been seeing forecasts of rain.
  19. It might be a wet ride. Forecasters are calling for rain on Saturday. Course they have been wrong before.
  20. We are rolling in on Saturday.
  21. I don't usually let anyone wash my bike but in this case I'd make an exception!
  22. Don, I don't know what your time frame is but I figured on talking with you about these next weekend. Bob
  23. I've noticed that I can loose the signal easier on the bike than on my truck. I believe it has to do with my antenna position. It mainly happens in the city with tall buildings. I also noticed it when I rode down to Rabbit Hash Kentucky. It's pretty easy to just switch over to FM radio or my MP3 player. Really nice to have options.
  24. Yea, that's from Hoon as well. I zip tied it inside the fairing. I was pretty disappointed with the Roady Raincover. Had to use a hair dryer just to get it stretched enough to fit over the unit. I think a sandwich bag would work just as good.
  25. No problem, If you want to hard wire it, you will have to split the fairing. Just tap into the hot side of the Aux. plug and ground it with the little bolt that is on the carriage for the cassette player. You will have to use the special 6 volt adapter. Are you getting a Hoon mount? Bob
