  1. Yes the compressor is working, the read out is working and I can decrease the the pressure, just not increase the pressure (E2 error). I assume that it is probably cracked soder but am confused,as I can hear it click to the compressor but the compressor won't respond. How ever I have when I hook up a battery charger to the compressor wires I get it to work and even utilize the display to see how much air I am putting in....so If I could get a fix for that I would probably wait until winter to do the progressive exchange. p.s. I have already done the other (E4 i belive) fix but only sodered the ones needed at that time.
  2. Thanks for all the input, just need to save the $$ for the trade out. The reason I am going to the aftermarket shock is because I am tired of the CLASS system, which I feel is the only real misfunction of my 83' I am not sure how it could be developed and then have "CLASS" associated with it, not to mention that you are unable to adjust the air pressure while riding. Will get it done and let you know how it turns out.
  3. Thanks, don't suppose that it's too difficult to change out.
  4. Going to go for an aftermarket rear progressive shock for my 83', wondering where to get one or a part number and help would be great.
  5. I'd like to know what you find out, as mine was working just fine last fall, tore the bike apart to paint and when I got it all back together I get the screen and an occasional e2 erroror maybe it is the e1 error and don't know what taht means or how to fix it. Have competed the resolder due to the e4 message. Any ideas on what I need to do to fix the problem would be great.
  6. When I replace my rear master had the light come on......took a bit to figure out that it was brake and not water level. That being said I topped off the resivoir (sp) and the light went out and hasn't come back on for the past 4k miles. Hope you fix is as easy as mine was.
  7. how much for the compressor shipped to 83401 (Idaho), thanks
  8. any chance you still have the air compressor unit?
  9. I was going to wait until in the morning to complete the job, but just decided to go ahead and hook everything up (it's a bit chilly here 28 degree) the new cables were amazing the bike fired right up and no drag or anything ....... now I'm wondering why I waited so long.
  10. I finally dediced to upgrade my cables, and followed the post listed in 1st gen tech library, any how it was only me doing the change out and I would like to mention it tried my patience, however instead of having help to thread the cable up through I just wired the new end to the old end and gingerly worked teh old cable out and at the same time the new cable followed through without much problem, changing the positive was a bit more difficult as stated but I think joining the two cable together really save alot of problems, plus I didn't have to remember how to route the cable. Hope this helps someone.
  11. Thanks for the input, the price was right and they were in stock and not 7-14 days out. I wanted the venoms but none to be had and I need a set for a trip I was taking. That being said I was also planning on selling the 83 next spring and didn't really think I needed to worry about longivity. However all I need to do is convince the wife that I need 2 road bikes plus my Dirt bike......should be easy right?
  12. Just wanted to say I am one HAPPY camper...Just installed a new set of Dunlop 404's on my 83, it's like it is a completly different bike. The handling is awsome, it is soooo much fun to ride. The wife gave permission to "upgrade" to a newer bike, we are looking at either a Valkyrie Interstate or a Yamaha Royal Star Venture, price will probably determine what I buy. That being said, I don't want to get rid of my 83 royal.
  13. I have an 83 and if I am able to stay below 3000rpms I will get mid to upper 30's other wise its 30-31. I just figure the fun factor costs me 4-6 mpg. I did just get it back from the shop with a brand new pair of Dunlops and boy does it handle soo much better......must be like getting a new pair of shoes when I was a Child.
  14. Thanks guys, after I posted I went to the site and saw the price for the 8125L's for the Gen I ($7 each) and went a head and ordered them, I agree that for the amout of headache saved it's well worth the $, now I just have to wait for them to arrive. Well they are calling for cold and rain for the next few days anyhow:)
  15. so did any one ever find out how much they run? Just want to see if it's worth the $ to wait.
