  1. I am trying to do the steering head adjustment but I cannot for the life of me get that top nut loose. I've tried channel locks, even clamped on locking pliers and hammered the end, tried putting a pipe on the end .... all no go. That is one tight nut. Any suggestions .... I dont have a wrench big enough for the head, and the darn space is so small. I presume it isnt a reverse thread and its "lefty lucy". Aaaargh!
  2. NO YOU ARE NOT DOING SOMETHING WRONG - you only get the option to add a placemark (blue balloon) once you click "edit" AND the motorcycle icon you see on the map is what you can change the placemark to after adding a placemark. I think this is working!! E ha!! Thanks Bryan I will post a complete "how to" once the Boss gives me his blessing.
  3. This works for me, but again, I'm not sure if it because I created it or if you guys can start adding your sightings too. Could I possible get someone to give it a try? I have the instructions in the title box. Thank guys ..... fingers crossed. I think this might work!! http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&vps=1&jsv=242c&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=112200850177634708087.00048814b7cc654f9389e
  4. The problem I'm having is that if I open it to the "public" anyone can come in and do whatever to the map, but by "unlisting" it says I can send a URL to my amigos and they can update or edit the map. The magic word there was "says" ..... grrrrrr Under Construction
  5. http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&tab=wl This is a test to see if this works. I have placed one sighting near Nanticoke. email and password are required : email account - dunvilsteev@gmail.com password - freebird Seems to work for me, takes you to an area where you must click on "My Maps" on the left hand side, then the only map in there is the Venturerider map. Could I get someone else to try this and see if it works for them too? Thank you.
  6. We all notice other RSVs on the road and are wondering, "Hey, is he/she part of venturerider?" Venture sighting has to be one of the MOST copied threads. I notice the map is no longer functioning, so my question/request is to pinpoint sightings on a map with time and date and year and colour. Others have agreed it would be cool. http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48689&highlight=venture+sighting One suggestion I had was to have a public map in google maps where the members of the site have the password so they could go in and pinpoint the location and then fill in the data into the pinpoint label. If some other way was better, but would require some work in order to do this, I would GLADLY offer my time and services. It would be an honour to help out the site and its members. Since I'm the one asking it only seems fair I should do the work. Thanks Steve Hoedt aka dunvilsteev

  8. Birds? heres one for you: My buddy was a no-show for a ride, so I called and his wife said he had left and she seemed concerned so we waited for him. Well, he showed up, but what a sight he was. A turkey vulture was dining on a coon at the side of the road, my buddy sees it and honks his horn but the bird HAD to grab one more bite. As it goes to take off a truck blast by in the other lane scaring the bird back into my buddies lane. Luckily it cleared the windshield and missed my buddy, unluckily it was so freaked out it s**t in mid air, which landed squarely in his face and chest. yeeeeech!
  9. Well done Don .... ummm how about "Town Hall" for us little guys? Or is this a "city slicker" thingie?
  10. Well, let me be the first venturer to state, that a guy from "Gassaway" obviously has a "natural" advantage. Pity those tailgaters!!
  11. Sadly for me Uxbridge is 3 hours away for me, too long of a day, BUT .... My buddy has access to a cottage in Havelock, a few of us had planned to go there, do a run up and down hwy 507, Buckhorn Rd., (you MUST be familiar with that stretch of motorcycling heaven!) spend the night at the cottage and then come back home. So I read your posting and did a little research on the ferry: Is it free? I couldn't find a price anywhere? Does it land in Picton or Lake on the Mountian? We were contemplating coming home on your return route most of the way, but jumping on the hwy around TO to get home. Any suggestions or hints of good places to stop, eat, rest or sightsee would be appreciated. Thanks bud!
  12. Hi folks, nice to meet you in Dunnville (the guy in the white tshirt) .... so ,what things DID you do around the falls? Oh yeah and here ya go .....
  13. Far be it from me to stir the pot ..... but..... I'm looking at this picture with the poppies ..... Look how the old guy is holding up the jar, see how he's looking questioningly at the burly biker, is that a trace of fear in his old eyes? Did he actually pay for these poppies or just strongarm the ole bugger? Perhaps the Venturerider legal team (Dewey, Screwem & Howe) should be brought in on this one ...... I'm just sayin'
  14. The "top kill" is now a no-go. About time someone admitted just how big this oil field is and what can be expected. This will bankrupt BP, but its just a corporate name, they will open back up as some other name .... IMO
  15. E ha .... atta boy Mike, well done!!
  16. R.I.P. Ride on Billy ......
