  1. Hey folks, it has been a while since my favourite US beer brand has been available in Ontario, Gennessee Cream Ale. I am in the process of getting my citizenship card in order to obtain my passport, at which point I plan on making a border run. (Red tape nightmare) Once I get this I plan on making a trip for some beer. Where is the cheapest place close to the Fort Erie or Niagara Falls border where I can score some? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.
  2. welcome aboard dude ... Good to have another Canadian, and Ontarian too.
  3. Went for a 5 hour ride today looking all over the place but no "wascally wabbit" anywhere. I know how Elmer felt.......
  4. Oooh, oh, this might call for a target change ..... bad dog bad!!
  5. Now THERE'S an idea..... wouldn't have to worry about those real "manbugs" hanging around the house
  6. A couple of funny bug stories: #1 - Being a city boy there were many things I learned moving to a small town. Every June we get a similar bug (bum attachers) that infest for about a week or so. Being in a river town everyone calls it a fish fly but it is something related to those love bugs (bum attacher). They dont bite and since the girls were kids at the time we called them "manbugs" sort of like ladybugs, so the kids wouldnt freak out going outside. The first year we saw them I thought it had to do with the cedars (12' high then, now all removed) that circled my backyard, so off to Home hardware I go to buy some chemical soup to spray. I'm spraying like all get out.... neighbours watching me and he comes over and asks what I'm doing. I explain I'm killing these bugs in my yard just look at them all. He then asks, "Have you looked up?" Saying what do you mean I crank the neck back and look skywards, the sky is full of these manbugs. I'm spraying a postage stamp when the cloud covers miles and miles. DAAAAAAAAAH stupid city boy!! #2 - A tree had falled down in an ice storm so in the summer I had a guy come with one of those drill thingies and mash up the stump. There was still a few garbage bags full of chips and stuff so I'm trying to bag it but the dam wind is blowing so it is hard to hold and fill. Much to her chagrin, I ask my teenage daughter for help (I know say no more!) so she holds a couple of bags for me then goes inside. I'm finishing up when I hear this scream start in her bedroom and proceed down the stairs, through the kitchen, out the door, down the driveway and she comes flying towards me with her top held up showing the world her tatas .... she screams TICK!!!!!! There attached to her belly was the little varmint, so I switched to "Dad Mode" reached in and quickly nipped it off with my fingernails. (Dog gets em so I know how to do it CORRECTLY getting the head and not squeezing the body) She shoves down her top, stomps into the house shouting over her shoulder, "Don't EVER ask me to help you again....EEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW!" Gotta admit I did a little "eeeww" myself touching the little bugger. Had to laugh.
  7. Sorry my confusing post, yes, they are two different insects we're talking about here.
  8. I have since learned that these are shad flies, some people call them fish flies. Driving along hwy 26 just outside of Collingwood and I see everyones brake lights flashing, I'm wondering whats going on, then I hit a cloud .... roads covered in 'em, slippery as goose poop. Something I'll never forget, right out of a "B" movie.
  9. Holy (unpostable)!!!
  10. NO .... but for the paltry sum a $1,000,000 we'll make sure she doesn't see the above posting .... Swiss banking info to follow....
  11. When I bought my bike (used from a HD dealer) the previous owner had taken the GPS unit but left the mount and wiring attached. After some detective work I find it was a 2650 but the guy at the GPS booth at the TO motorcycle show told me to go to the 2730, same wiring and mount and a much better unit. I go onto Ebay and I can't believe what they go for ..... used (usually missing some parts but claim to be working) for $150+. WHEN you can find them! I'm looking in the weekly flyers and I can get a new GPS for that price.... what gives? I just want the basic GPS, maybe I should go back to searching for a 2650 on Ebay?
  12. Was done wid his brane, he gest thunk it and lordee dey gest moved....
  13. I find it makes a world of difference. You do use the rear view mirror more for whats behind you, so I can understand it being of no use to someone towing. But for eliminating that side blind spot, works great. It is AAA and CAA approved. And last time I looked my neck works just fine......
  14. Holy cow!! So, guys in the south (who put on way more mileage than us frozen people) are getting what..... 6 - 8 months out of a tire? To be honest I had expected 20000, two seasons. And I do have a lot of tread left. Could it be from mostly riding one up, versus two up? What would be the expected life of the front?

    Car mirrors

I must admit to having had MY car set up improperly. Take less than 2 minutes to properly adjust the mirrors on your car, saving both your life and others. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwzUE6PHk4U]YouTube- AutoFocus - Are your car mirrors adjusted correctly?[/ame]
  16. All this cracking talk had me down on bended knee to take a peek at mine. Front is clear, back has some small thin cracks about 3" long, but I have about 12,000 miles (18,000 km) on them and the cracking is very thin. Would I have any chance on getting them replaced with that mileage? If not I'll ride, I'll put on enough mileage to probably require new tires next spring anyway, but if I could wrangle a new set..... hhhhhm. What do you think?
  17. Map will not upload.
  18. My daughter recently moved from Victoria, a beautiful area. Must be GREAT for riding !! And a good cause too, have fun guys!
  19. Let me guess ..... D&R stands for ....... “Defibrillator & Resuscitation” I can feel my arteries tighten up just looking at..... yum

  21. I have not purchased from these guys ..... But I have done a ton of cross border buying (mostly ebay) Just a word of warning. I noticed that they use UPS for anything over 5 lbs, and with MY experience, expect to pay a rip off brokerage fee and some trumped duty fee.
  22. Hey zoner ..... can't wait myself .... can be cool along there, temperature-wise. I've been to RR 69 for a quick trip, and then stopped into the Motorcycle Gear store on hwy 20 .... been there? Love Dalhousie myself, especially that restaurant alongside the river... can't remember the name... And Timmies in town ..... OMG talk about a gold mine, it is always busy. I hear they own the old Pizza Hut building east on hwy 3 just before CTC, expect a new one there soon as they get the new arena built, which is going just down the side street. (dunnville gossip )
  23. I think this might be fun .... not sure if it has been done before. Imagine one of your fellow Venturerider buddies is coming to visit for a day, and you are going to take him/her out for a ride. The rules are: near YOUR house total ride no more than 5 hours show them the area, and your favourite roads If we piece them all together, we'll have riding nirvana! Mine is: Out of Dunnville heading towards Lowbanks for the shore ride along to Port Colborne. Show them the optical illusion on the beach. Take Hwy 3 to Fort Erie and now north along Niagara Parkway, passed Millionaires Row. Passed Niagara Falls, getting damp at Tablerock and checking out all the tourists. Just as we get to the town limits of Niagara-on-the-Lake turn left on Rd81 so we can go drop into Chocolate Effects (yum). Take the route passed Niagara College and then through the tunnel under the Welland Canal. Now onto Decew Rd, through Effingham area and then onto Twenty Mile Rd (RR 69). After a short trip down RR 4 its back home in time for supper.
  24. Easier said than done .... I'll try it again tomorrow. Hopefully, the throbbing fingertips will ebb by then ......... ow I was hoping there would be some magic solution. Ha figures! Man, that is one tough little dohickie, hard to weave the strap.
  25. I bought a quick release for my helmet. This is the one I bought: http://www.ironhorsehelmets.com/quickrelease.htm Okay, so how the %^#* does the black end attach to the loop with the two D hooks?
