  1. A bookie was at the races playing the ponies and losing his shirt. He noticed a Priest step out onto the track and blessed the forehead of one of the horses lining up for the 4th race. Lo and behold, that horse - a long shot won the race. Next race, as the horses lined up, the Priest stepped onto the track. Sure enough, he blessed one of the horses. The bookie made a beeline for a betting window and placed a small bet on the horse. Again, even though it was another long shot, the horse won the race. He collected his winnings, and anxiously waited to see which horse the Priest would bless next. He bet big on it, and it won. As the races continued the Priest kept blessing horses, and each one ended up winning. The bookie was elated. He made a quick dash to the ATM, withdrew all his savings, and waited for the Priest's blessing that would tell him which horse to bet on. True to his pattern, the Priest stepped onto the track for the last race and blessed the forehead of an old nag that was 100:1. This time the priest blessed the eyes, ears, and hooves of the old nag. The bookie knew he had a winner and bet every cent he owned on the old nag. He watched dumbfounded as the old nag pulled up and couldn't even finish the race. In a state of shock, the bookie went to the track area where the Priest was. Confronting him, he demanded, “Father! What happened? All day long you blessed horses and they all won. Then in the last race, the horse you blessed never even had a chance. Now, thanks to you, I've lost every cent of my savings!” The Priest nodded wisely and with sympathy, "You are not Catholic are you my son?" "No, I'm Jewish" "That's the problem," said the Priest, "you couldn't tell the difference between a blessing, and last rites."
  2. We were truly fortunate concerning Michael. We live in Pensacola Fl. Initially were in the path but then it turned to the east. While we have heartfelt empathy for those affected by the storm, it was no more than a steady rain, light wind event. By Wednesday afternoon the sun was out and became a very nice day.
  3. I was told that the Milwaukee 8's had different sized inlets on the mufflers. HD started using cats with the 2010 model year but they were placed on the right side head pipes before the split. The ones I installed were pre 2010 and they required 1 3/4" clamps. I got mine from HD. Stainless, not chrome. $8.95 each.
  4. A Police Officer was patrolling late at night off the main highway. At nearly midnight, he sees a couple in a car, in Lovers' Lane, with the interior light brightly glowing. He carefully approaches the car to get a closer look. Then he sees a young man behind the wheel, reading a computer magazine. He immediately notices a young woman in the rear seat, filing her fingernails Puzzled by this surprising situation, the Officer walks to the car and gently raps on the driver's window. The young man lowers his window. "Uh, yes, Officer?" The trooper asks: "What are you doing?" The young man says: "Well, Officer, I'm reading a magazine." Pointing towards the young woman in the back seat the Officer says: "And what is she doing?" The young man shrugs: "Sir, I believe she's filing her fingernails." Now, the trooper is totally confused. A young couple, alone, in a car, at night in Lover's Lane and nothing obscene is happening! The trooper asks: "What's your age, young man?" The young man says: "I'm 22, sir." The trooper asks: "And her, what's her age?" The young man looks at his watch and replies: "She'll be 18 in 11 minutes."

  5. Well made bike.
  6. My wife said it has to have a name. All of my toys are named including rv, truck that pulls it and boat. My last name is Jefferson, the bike is a Star. So, "Jefferson Starship". Looking forward to explore the galaxy.
  7. I said the same thing when I saw your pic's
  8. 10-4, right on it. Ride like a pro and MC Rider. Wife wont ride with me until I pass her road test course. (more stringent that the state qualification exam):D
  9. I'll be looking forward to your visit whenever that might be.
  10. Purchased this RSV in August. Had less than 19,000 miles on the odometer. It needed a few items looked after, rear brakes, oil and filter. It had some slip on's that were on the loud side. A pair of stock Harley Ultra mufflers took care of that. Nice mellow sound that wont get me barred from the neighborhood. It's been fun and daunting getting the feel of a powerful bike under my butt again. Daunting because this is one heavy machine. I sold my last bike, a 1976 Goldwing in 1983. I'm a 75 yr old return rider who is practicing slow speed maneuvers hoping not to drop it. So far I've been no farther than approx 150 mile radius of home. Between super hot weather and monsoons have kept it in the garage. I'n anxious to lay down some miles this month.

  12. Steer?? How about stopping? Check out the rear brake rotor. Looks like it could be fun though.
  13. Congratulations. It's great. I've been retired for 20 years now. People ask me what day is it and I give them the month instead. I tell the day of the week by the television, radio or phone. I've forgotten my birthday. Every now and then I have a nightmare. I dream that I have to get up and go to work. My biggest problem is no more raises. What was a generous retirement 20 years ago is now just livable. Lifestyle changes are a way of life.
  14. One look at the 1973 RD350 brought back memories. My first new motorcycle. I definitely had to sit forward on the seat. That was one fast and wheel standing little bike. I had to keep a set of one heat range cooler spark plugs when hit the highway on trips of 200+ miles. It was no problem keeping up with the bigger bikes.
  15. I guess I could be considered a "return rider". I sold my last bike 35 yrs ago in 1983. It was a 1976 Goldwing, Vetter's fairing and Bates bags. I put a lot of miles on that bike. Depending on what the trip was about determined the mileage ridden. One trip I took I left Phila and rode to Chicago non stop. I had a purpose in Chicago and a time limit to get there. The rest of the trip was more relaxed. Chicago to Detroit, crossed the bridge to Windsor Cn and through to Quebec City. Stopped frequently and if anything looked interesting, checked it out. Came back down through the New England states and back to Philly in time to change and go back to work. Ten days solo and approx 3500 miles. Back then I had to work for a living. I'm now an old retired guy with time on my hands. My recently purchased 2009 RSV will be put to good use. I haven't been in a hurry for 20 or so years so leisure riding will be my forte. It might be a 100 to 200 per day.
  16. I feel you. I suffered for years with my left knee. Swollen, stiff and I couldn't fully straighten it. This was a last resort but I finally got a rplmt. After a few months intensive therapy, it was like new. I never knew how bad my right knee was until I had the left one done. So, two new knees. Drawback? Catch hell going through TSA checkpoints.
  17. Dumb, dumb, dumb. When I parked the bike in my driveway, my neighbor threw his leg over. As he was messing with the controls, he must have flicked the engine shutoff sw. I didn't notice it until this morning. Off to a great start. This is my first bike since 1983. It is also the biggest, heaviest with the largest engine. My last bike was a 1976 Goldwing, Vetter's fairing and Bates saddle bags. It is also my first bike with floor boards. I'm still adjusting to riding with my feet out front. Practice and time should get me going. Thanks for the help
  18. Thanks, going out to check this morning
  19. Today I picked up my new to me, 2009 RSV. I bought it in Ms and rode it home one hundred or so miles home to Pensacola. Parked it in the driveway while I made room in the garage. Wont start. Good bright hdlt and no response from the starter. No dimming of light, no clicking of relay or starter. No problem until I reached home. (Thank you) In neutral, engine shutoff sw on kickstand up, or down. Any ideas? I will go out in the AM and start checking things as it is dark now.
