  1. Daughter 53 and due to retire at 57. I'm not too far behind. Damn, I remember when I was a kid.

    Bummer

I feel you. From a guy with two replacement knees.
  3. After 16 months of ownership, today, 11/21/2019, I got my wife on the bike for a quick ride. The last time she rode with me was somewhere in the mid to late 1980's. I took her out to dinner to celebrate. She liked both the ride and the dinner.
  4. What he said. I took off the slip ons that came with bike. The Harley's are mellow.
  5. 10-4
  6. My thought also. It will have to be one with a chrome housing. I look good so the RSV has to look just as good.:cool18:
  7. I just went to HD dealer and purchased their 1 3/4" stainless muffler clamp. My bike had somebody's slip on's with the naked pipes showing. The HD mufflers have a nice mellow tone and way quieter than the slip ons.
  8. I am planning to make a trip this month and was concerned about the fuel filter. The bike was purchased used last year with 19,000 miles. All I can say is "WOW". That has to be the silliest spot for a replaceable item. The filter seemed to be original and clear. How could it be no resistance at all with 23,000 miles? Unless it was not filtering at all.The next replacement will be in a more more convenient location.
  9. My 2009 Venture had the 777's on it when I bought it. So I have no basis for comparison. After a year of riding, I have had no problems and the bike performs well. I would purchase another pair with no reservations.
  10. I rode today. The weather was plain too nice not to. The weather on the Gulf Coast has been hot and humid for weeks. I had no place in particular to go. I just fueled up and rode for about 3 hrs. Nothing like some wind therapy.
  11. We are so sorry to hear this. We've never lost a child but know friends and family that experienced this devastating circumstance. It is painful to say the least to even think of this happening. Lean on faith family, faith and friends. God bless
  12. If it runs and sounds good, it's worth the cost of finding a fabricator. Should be a way to remove the plug and retrofit another sight level. Running with no knowledge of the oil level isn't very appealing.
  13. I had been riding since I was approx 14-18 yrs old. All sorts and size bikes. I stopped riding at age 39. After moving to Florida and at age 75, I once again got the urge to ride. I wanted a touring bike and the RSV fit the bill package and price wise. I'm in reasonable health with a 32 inch inseam. I dropped this bike 3 times during the first couple months of ownership. The first time was on the way home from the dealership. All the drops were at a standstill. Damn, it took awhile to get use to forward mounted floor boards and that heel shift. Left turn from a stop and second gear instead of first. Big fun. Right foot sliding out while planted in gravel. the story goes on. Once this bad boy is rolling is where the fun factor kicks in and I am in my glory. It took some time and no guaranty that it wont happen again but I love it.
  14. Yeah but you have to be quick and make sure the engine is cold. Steal them.
  15. HD mufflers with baffles removed? No problem, you can find virgin OEM Harley pipes all day for approx $50 online or check with Harley dealer. 1st thing Harley owners remove.
  16. The sixties and seventies were certainly a different time. Those who returned back then will attest to that. It did my heart good to see today's response and kindness to the servicemen returning and leaving deployments.
  17. I know dents. That sir, is not a dent. That is a crushed front end. Never would have guessed it. The Yamaha stood up to it well. Glad to hear you are up and about, albeit sore.
  18. Same here with the VA. Mine was a two part with a few weeks in between. Never had the shingles and have no desire to get them. Looks and sounds painful.

    ouch

I feel for you. Some years ago I had just returned to work after I broke a knee. Walking from the parking lot, I slipped and on the ice. The best way to describe my position is to imagine a roach on its back trying to turn back over. arms and legs flailing. lol
  20. Welcome to the club. twenty years and still going.:cool10:
  21. My first bike was a 1955 Harley K model with a locked up engine. The engine was still locked up when I sold it about two weeks later. (teenager with high ambitions and no money.) Then a '73 RD350, '74 Suzuki GT 550. '75 Honda CB 750K, '76 Honda GL1000, '76 Kawasaki KZ900 LTZ. Sold my Wing in 1983 and didn't ride again until I bought the RSV this past August. Beautiful riding bike. But man is this a heavy bike. I dropped it 3 times in a month or so. Never in motion, always at a standstill. Some folks pump iron for exercise. Me?, I pump Royal Star Venture.;) The last couple of months have been all good though. I've adjusted. It sure is fun on the road.
  22. Well done Tiffany.
  23. A quote from the movie, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, "looks like plant food to me".
  24. I echo your sentiments. I took my jungle boots off 51 years ago. Damn, I'm old. I have all the respect for those men and women for their service.
  25. I ordered the Caltric clutch assy, received them yesterday and installed them today. Returning them tomorrow. You get what you pay for. They aren't as thick as the OEM's I was replacing. They were so thin that I could move them around with the clutch engaged. After looking at original discs, I really didn't see anything abnormal. I purchased my bike used and had no idea of the type motor oil in it. I changed the oil and filter after I bought it. Curses, I used the wrong oil. I just last week changed to Rotella T6 and after riding a bit, (100 or so miles), got on it hard. Still some slippage but better than before. Tried the Caltrics and removed them immediately. I'm going to the Barnett spring with the OEM plates. It is extremely easy to work on and I dont have anything better to do with my time so I'm experimenting.
