  2. Brrrr, cold and lonely in this forum.
  3. Didn't Clint Eastwood say that first??
  4. The real action starts at 1:15!!
  5. Thinking about what to buy if my 89VR dies, and reading this thread, I am very worried!! Is this the first year for the new air cooled V-Twin?
  6. Was out for a cruise and had to make a pit stop at work.
  7. Are all "darksiders" also flat Earthers??
  8. Wow!! All that bike is missing is a couple of side-mounted .50 cals.
  9. Nice looking setup! Did you make the brackets?
  10. Congratz! Enjoy it, you've earned it!!
  11. Do you remember that Tom Cruise film? When Robert Duvall, the crew chief, was in his shop admiring the brand new race car he just built? He muttered something to his creation like "I'm gonna give you an extra big fuel line; you'll hold an extra gallon of fuel. You'll get an over-size oil filter; hold an extra quart of oil". Then he looks down to see a puddle of coolant. "That's not the answer I was looking for" he says. Well I emitted those exact words to my 89VR three days ago. My lady and I went out to eat and then saw a movie. It was 50 miles round trip, but it was our first "cold" of the season, 51F. Went out to fire her up for the trip to work the next morning and saw a puddle of around, I'd guess, of 4 ounces of green stuff. After a lower plastic removal and a visual, I don't know where it came from. But, since it's back to the normal 70F weather, it hasn't happened again. I'm guessing it's 30 year old rubber like o-rings that are just itching to fail!! Party On!!
  12. After a single night, typically zero. After a few days, then two or three clicks.
  13. Rocky Mountain High, Colorado!!!
  14. I find this joke offensive!! It's because I had a near and dear uncle who was mentally challenged and actually thought he was a dog. He died young as one day he was in the middle of the road licking his, ermmmm "cleaning himself", when a garbage truck came and ran him over!!
  15. My 1st gen leaks gas all the time. When I fill the tank it's only a matter of time till all the gas "leaks" out of the exhaust! Just a little humor to get you by till you find the prob. Good luck.
  16. Have a good trip and since your on the best year and color VR ever built, you'll be fine!!
  17. Radio Frequency energy at a level of 2.5 million Watts is being radiated from the big grey antenna pointing left. The BMW's have active tach and spedo circuits which get a little wacky when so close to a RF source. The Ventures are fine except the transmit pulses come out of the speakers loudly even if the stereo/cb are off.
  18. lol Well I have a wife of 24 years but she is low maintenance; sometimes my mind wanders.
  19. I've always heard these bikes were fast but holy cow!! Looks to be doing well in excess of 80 Mph at only 1,000 RPM's........ Comments??
  20. I'm 6'1" and ride with my wife, who is considerably shorter than I, on an 89VR very often. She says that she feels very little wind on her due to the windshield but mostly because she hides behind me. Will
  21. Thanks Bob now I know. Mines been doing that at certain speed/gear combo. I suspected that was it and now that I know, it does not bother me at all since mine is very low in db.
  22. I decided to do a night loop tonight to test the new center line marker/right shoulder deer/moose lights. It was a clear 60 degree night with calm winds. My 89VR was running in spectacular fashion. All in the world seemed to be in balance. I made a stop and was admiring my ride when it hit me... What the heck am I going to ride when this bike worn out or dies a horrible death? It's old now and parts are going to be more difficult to find going forward. There is now way I'm going to pay $20K+ for a new bike that I don't like as much as this 1st gen!! Oh well I'll maintain her as best I can and hope we have a long life together!
