That's awesome! Unfortunately, we will be 1 less. Our daughter is sick and won't be able to make it after all. She is really disappointed, as we are. Was looking forward to showing her why we do what we do.

Just booked 3 rooms at Comfort Suites. They still are booking rooms under the VentureRider block. Kelly at Comfort Suites was extremely nice and helpful. Thanks Bill for finding this place. Patti

We are all going to St. Jude's this weekend and would have loved to have you with us. On the flip side...Memphis is pretty cool anyway. Beale Street is awesome! Glad you all had a good time. Next time, you need to come visit Nashville. Lots to do there too. Patti

But the ones I did go to, there were always other prizes...you bought the raffle tickets when you got there or sometime before the final night when they were given away. At the International at the Hub, that Snarley Bill helped set up, people brought items to donate. That really helped the fundraising! thinking about doing that this year. The International at Galena had ALOT of door prizes too. You would have to ask EUSA1 or Rick Haywood how they accumulated so many items. Don't know if they were donated or purchased by the committee or brought in by fellow VR members. As I recall, the International at Potato Creek had some cool door prizes too. I believe Lead Wolfe did that one. I won a jewelry box that Hummingbird donated. I think Carbon One's wife won one too. If everyone brought SOMETHING to donate...wouldn't that be a cool idea? then there would be more chances to win something. We could still have a LARGE grand prize, but we could also have some smaller ones too.

It's a great ride and an interesting tour. You really learn alot about this place. and you will get to see the VR plaque finally on the wall! So excited!!!! Lunch isn't bad either and it's a nice time of the year. Probably won't be very hot so that will be nice. I think I am missing the trike...just a little...

I like the idea of "gas cards". However, they are really a "gift card" and can be used for anything in the store EXCEPT Lottery tickets (at least here in TN). could be used for alot of beer!!!! I purchase Shell gift cards for our clients to use for gas. They can be purchased in denominations of $25 up to $100 per card. I actually think this is a good idea. Usually the prepaid Visa / Mastercards come with some type of fees on them. You can also get a preloaded Wal Mart gift card which gives you a cents-off amount at certain Murphy gas stations. I would bet a fair amount of us live near one. either way, it would also be good at ANY Wal mart. Not sure how many would like that. Either way, if we went that route, I would say no more than $1000 for the grand prize. since we typically spent $1300 or more on a trailer in the past... Just a few thoughts...

If you are going to St. Jude's on Oct 4th, we really need you to sign up on the calendar so we can get a firm head count. Thank you very much!!! I was really hoping for more folks going since we get to see the Venturerider plaque that all of you worked so hard to get! All YOUR donations and participation in the auctions made this possible. Thanks again everyone for helping us meet this goal. Personally, I can't wait to go this year. I am so excited!!!! Patti

No, we will never forget! My story is that of a worried mother. Jason had just started flight school and I was worried sick that they would call him up right away to serve in whatever capacity was needed. All I could think of was him leaving for overseas / sandpit without me getting to say goodbye. Talk about a rude awakening...I was the "Viet Nam" generation and thought when that was over, we would never go to war again, much less have an attack here on our home soil. To think that we were going to put our sons and daughters and other family members in harm's way again...it still makes me emotional. My sister (now retired army) was stationed in DC at the time. Thank goodness she didn't work at the Pentagon. she did send me pictures of alot of the destruction and we cried together. I certainly understand the why...and hope we find every last terrorist and rid this world of them, but as a mother...it's hard. I will NEVER forget! Thanks again for sharing your stories.
