  1. Got out on a bike yesterday afternoon, not mine though (still waiting a couple of parts). I want to change out steering neck bearings, so front end is mostly apart. So I got out on a friends 750 Maxim, he asked me if I wanted a fix & tossed me the keys, when I went to his place to start working on the scoot. It was only a short ride (about 10 miles), but I got some work done to the scoot, as well. The parking lot at the barracks is still covered in ice, there has been some flurries this week, but melted the same days. So things are starting to look up condition wise around here........
  2. Sent you a Paypal for 4 patches, a few minutes ago Don.
  3. Maybe during one of those, someone can get a pond video feed setup done. We may eventually be able to ID the pond monster, as something other than the riding lawnmower going for another swim....... :stirthepot:
  4. Great to hear.............:thumbsup2:
  5. You can do a measured pour (300ML if I remember correctly), or fill it to the bottom of the threads on your filler opening. I say this level, because that is where the level was, after my measured pour on mine, last year.
  6. 2 pairs needed $142. USD for new pistons & seals or about $27. USD for just new seals Put the caliper end of the hose to minimize spillage, don't pump, flush brakes after re-assembly. I have not the chance to rebuild calipers, myself yet (we just replace them). But air pressure will work on most, on really stuck pistons, reconnect to brake line, block other pistons after bleeding, pump stuck piston out, with brake pedal. The seals, normally come out afterwards & go in first. BTW I had ordered a rebuild kit for mine before (2 piston) & still have it for when needed. Flatout said 1 required, I had received 2 pistons & seals, with ordering 1 piston assy.
  7. I have feedback on the ram mount, it held my gps securely almost 1.5 years ago, when i took out a deer with my scoot. The same mount & gps is still in service on the scoot. :thumbsup2:
  8. I looked it up, $71. per pair for pistons & seals (2 pair needed) from flatout mc, the choice is your on the source & what to replace. But some things I have priced there is $50. cheaper there, than at bikebandit. I wouldn't even ask the local dealer, as with prior experience from him, at least twice the flatout price.
  9. Basically rotate & pull at same time to work it out, there is an O ring in the cap too.........
  10. Also check the bolts holding the valve cover down, some may have loosened off, causing the leak to occur, I have seen this before..............

I had it too, this morning.....
  12. The half clips are the newer type from Yammi, if you look at a Vmax parts diagram, it will show the half clips. I went through this last year........... Ordered a full clip, per parts diagram & received a half clip, so there is a single half clip in mine.
  13. Look here for mounting ideas too http://www.ram-mount.com/products/motorcycles.htm They make mounts for most, if not all, of the handhelds.........
  14. For bleeding the masters, did you do these seperately, after the re-builds & prior to hooking up to the normal brake system??? AKA Bench bleeding in Automotive terms......... I am not sure if it would make a difference in your case. Due to amount of fluid pumped through the system, but it may help determining the cause, of the problem....
  15. More likely removing it, but do you really want to go through that, to tow it??? Probably not...............
  16. Never heard of it, but not being in that field, not surprising. I think the big thing, is to give the upper fork tubes a wipe weekly (or more as needed) with Plexus or similar, to keep them fairly clean. I have read, that regular cleaning of the bug guts off the tubes, will keep the seals from leaking.

    Hey Condor

I thought you had already lost them, but Dan's post cleared that up, you still have a few left............ :stirthepot:
  18. The grease you came across was at the speedo drive, the messy stuff was fork oil. Typical Combat Arms type, can't tell the difference...... Nope I wasn't bored, you basically saw my normal weekend routine, coffee & forum, working on a scoot, some tv and food whenever. Only read about a dozen pages, of a book that I brought along, while there. I had told you where Gord's camera was, I guess you didn't want to get it oil coated, can't blame you for that.
  19. I should have worded it differently, I meant to say pressure plate conversion. I had not yet had a coffee, when I posted this above. Since then I left Sarges46 location in Manitoba & now, back in Wainwright Alberta. This is about 10 hours driving time (one way), with only stopping for fuel, about 4 tanks of gas round trip in the truck.
  20. Yup they are different. But you could do the clutch plate conversion, on the 1300 motor, if desired.
  21. Here is a tech instruction based on a 1st gen, nothing in 2nd gen tech library yet..... Us 1st genners, like the results of the new springs... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=505
  22. I was teaching Rick how to change fork seals, on Noddy's scoot today. The pull upper tube method was used, as we wanted to check out, a couple other things. We had a later start today, than we wanted, so we will finish putting it back together tomorrow.
  23. Carl, you might be better off doing this mod, easier filter changes & better selection of filters available.
  24. Probably not, but it looks like he remembers how to read & type......
  25. Jack, you got it this time......
