Class system woes
Rocket replied to Burninator's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Can you hear the air being released???? If you turn the key off, then back on it will show no pressure (after power up display) until you select front or rear, to get a reading from. -
Rear 89 Shock
Rocket replied to Iowa Guy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
What is gone on the shock?? Progressive suspension makes a replacement spring for the Royales. Here is a link for a ebay dealer, that I'm pleased with, I have had multiple dealings with him. http://stores.ebay.com/Marys-Motorcycle-Parts-and-More_YAMAHA-VENTURE-ROYALE_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ11QQftidZ2QQtZkm -
Exhaust Confusion
Rocket replied to skooter's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
See this link below for pulling the collector out of the way. Once the rear down tubes are loose, you can get at the inner retaining nuts, for the exhaust port adapters. Why not change those head to adapter gaskets while at it, they are cheap & a PITA to get at. Check your other gaskets too. After all, how many times do you want to tear it apart, to seal leaks. To remove the rear down tubes competely, you can move the rear master cylinder & reserviour, or remove the rear valve cover to get the needed clearance. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1002 -
Good, I just might do the US route, heading over to Ontario. Guess I'd better submit my leave pass this week.

George, the puller I bought last year came with metric & SAE bolts in various sizes. If one size of the included bolts, can be threaded in more than a few threads by hand & not a sloppy fit, it should be fine. I am finding that my 95 Chev truck has a mixture of metric & SAE bolts / nuts on it (depending on which component I'm working on).

How about another update of batteries ordered, Jack???

I was thinking more along the lines of a loose pin, where it could slide out a little, causing intermittant problems. Another possiblity is the friction plates could be sticking some, as well. But between us, we should get this nailed down.

Not knowing your location in BC, I would recommend going through a lower mainland member, that is located very close to the border, paying his expenses in getting you 1 or more tires from southwestmoto (facility fee, border taxes, fuel & any additional shipping to get tire(s) to you). SWmoto ships free in the US for 2 tires, some members use a drop ship facility on the other side of the border. They then pick up, bring across border & ship to the needing member. Best way I have found to pay a CDN member is by online banking E-money transfer.

Yup, as they are normally sold in packs of 2 bleeders, you will need to buy 2 packs.
-
Same here, met them on Vancouver Island, a week before I attended Marcarl's meet. Glad it is not worse..................
-
Same as doing the brakes. Yup, replaces normal bleeders, makes it much easier & quicker to bleed / flush the system.

That must be from getting around by dog sled......... BTW do you have any melt happening yet, up there?????

What is this plug??
Rocket replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Mine is white too, but in the shape that squid showed in the pics. So, maybe a repair was previously done, with what was available.... -

Need help to find
Rocket replied to Cutty's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Ok, a new one at Flatout Motorcycle CHAMBER 1 26H-14731-02-00 $363.69. Go to the exhaust page. http://www.flatoutmotorcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?category=Motorcycles&make=Yamaha&year=1987&fveh=224 -
But then, the type of tank is not specified, it could be a storage tank of different types (including for home heating fuels). This will open it up for many more members. Cliff, you should be to be a little more specific, to clarify your pic intentions.

Trouble with which socket?
Rocket replied to Ohedron42's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
18MM deep socket will do the trick, I normally use a U joint between that & the ratchet, to give just enough height.
