  1. Yup, all you needed to change, was the springs themselves. Which would have been about $15. for the set. The pressure plate upgrade kit is for the 1300 engines...........
  2. If you used dot 5 fluid.... Not the dot 5.1 which is supposed to be compatible with dot 3 & 4 (I have never checked it out). Prepare to do a complete rebuild of the braking system, as many of the seals are not compatible, will fail on you & maybe the lines too.............
  3. About time, you finally went after it........ You will get more use out of it, than I would.
  4. Nope I didn't, as I don't carry a passenger much (usually army gear). But you can put the holder on the top of the side luggage or on the front of the trunk, on flat area, by the corner. Normally these go on the left side, same as helmet connection point. Better late than never, at least the cables are still available..........
  5. Here is the link to the repair of the common faults of the CLASS controller. It is much more work, to rig the air lines, into a "Venture Standard" from VR configuration. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=493
  6. Don, I think should postpone this till after the weekend..... Mow the lawn ( think we can get a few people over to take pics, if lawnmower goes swimming) & put some miles on the scoot, if the existing tires are safe enough. Then maybe, tackle the other jobs at home. We should be able to survive a few days, with a slow server. Get some R & R...............
  7. That is a very good upgrade for the brakes & clutch. Here is a link http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/p04.htm
  8. The progessive part is #11-1112, yes you can still run air if needed / wanted.
  9. Circlip pliers will be of no use, as it is a wire type of circlip, a small flat tip screwdriver & needle nose pliers will get it out of the groove, after pushing the cap in a little.
  10. You need the interface cables (they were optional), that connect the amp to the headset cords, see these links for more info. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21213 http://www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp?prod=JM%2DYV%2D41
  11. For NGK the first letter on the spark plug number indicates the size. C 10mm D 12mm B 14mm You need the 12mm
  12. If I'm not mistaken, you colour tune first before syncing the carbs. The colour tune is a tool to get your idle fuel mixture, fine tuned. Some of us just set the mixture screw at 2.25 turns out. Both the colour tune & carb tune are made by the same company (see attached link). It would be best, for another member that has done this before, to perform this initially. http://www.carbtune.co.uk/c.com/index.html http://www.carbtune.co.uk/c.com/colortune.html

  14. That locking "washer" ensures that the nut stays at the correct torque, the nut is torqued to 50 foot Lbs. To get it off, it is best if you have a friend with an portable air or electric impact (used in reverse direction of course, turning counter clockwise) to break the torque on the nut. If that is not available, have someone hold the board in place, give the breaker bar & socket, a sharp tug to break the torque. Do not use an impact driver to re-install the nut, it needed to be torqued to 50 foot Lbs.
  15. Nope, your not the only one, Rick. It shows his competency level, better start looking for another mech, or learn to do basic maintenance yourself. There are dealers out there, that may be an ok source for parts, but I wouldn't have work on the scoot, more than once. If they can screw something up on a tire change, would you want them digging deeper into the scoot???
  16. Good to hear about your progress. It is satisfying, to be able to take care of maintenance issues ,yourself. Better watch it, or you will learn much more...... Remember, winter is the preferred tinkering time, as it usually doesn't affect riding time........ :thumbsup2:
  17. I'm not sure what the courses, I'm going out to the field with, will be playing with this week......
  18. Wrong model Jack, but nice try......... This is what he is after http://www.dragspecialties.com/fatbook/17/353/5912298
  19. Here it is, see this link for the info..... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19833
  20. I have one on my 83, on the left side. It was connected directly to the stock mount, before I put Squidly's Driving light brackets on......... It shouldn't be a drain on the system, or are you always blowing your horn........:rotf:
  21. It is a similar fix as the CLASS controller fix, as it has the same problem COLD SOLDER JOINTS. I happen to have a copy of the CMS fix in pdf, that I had for my repair & will attach it here. Freebird can not put it into the library, as he doesn't have the authors permission. But that should not prevent someone, from doing up a new tech article writeup (with pics), that can be posted into the library.
  22. Hey, it keeps him within budget. He didn't specify, that it had to be ridable...........
  23. Here is another option to consider, bench testing of the tci & repair if needed, but it can take a little time..... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16599 Try to rule everything else out, first though.
  24. Download & install the image resizer, talked about in this thread.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1859
