  1. Greetings from a Mill Bay member, stuck in Wainwright AB.......... There is a couple of inline fuses on the radio wiring harness, inside the left fairing (you may need to remove the console top, to see them). A new cassette cover can be ordered from Gary @ Duncan motorcycle (think it was about $20. when I got one there)........ If you decide to go aftermarket, a marine unit would be best, but stay away from a Sony unit (problems has been reported with them).
  2. I think it was dropped due to server load (causing site slowdowns)....
  3. :big-grin-emoticon: With his progress this week, you may have to try & hold him back a bit......... So he doesn't over do things & have a setback........ That is nothing, we want to happen, at all. :no-no-no:
  4. Randya is the expert on this one, but my understanding of it, a bad weld is to blame & some have beefed up the area too, during repair. One thing that doesn't help is where someone rotates the scoot, when sitting on the centre stand & no wheel mod done to it. This will put additional twisting stress on the frame in that area.
  5. Not everything, but quite a bit.......... But you would be better off with a matched set anyways.
  6. Frame issue is '83 ONLY............. The solder connections, should be considered, a given, after all these years (usually a simple fix). 2nd gear was an oops, probably discovered, after a few on the first Vmaxs blew. BTW, mine is nicknamed Deer Hunter for a reason, killed a deer with it. I put about 20,000 Miles on it since March of last year & 10,000 Kilometers between the international meet & Pork in the Pines rally (as measured by GPS).
  7. Behind the mounting plate for the passenger footpegs & mufflers. These are the swingarm bearing locations. Left side 30mm socket (1 & 3/16"), about 75 Ft Lbs, right side 14mm allen key, about 4 Ft Lbs (just barely snug).
  8. Only with mine it showed only the "soft delete" option & still shows that a bunch of messages were deleted.
  9. Nope, put it under a Jokes for Big Bob thread. IMO Lets keep the existing thread for the updates & replies.
  10. Yup & here is the link.......... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1521
  11. On the 83 it is an phillips screw, fastening a round terminal to the housing, for the ground connection.
  12. Yours is one, where you need to change the lower forks, brake rotors & probably the front & rear master cylinders. Before even changing the calipers themselves, as it is a Mk1. You will need Mk2 components, to install. The best bang for the buck, without that hassle, is to put in SS Braided lines. I was surprised, by how much it improves the Mk1 braking, with stock calipers. I am still kicking myself, for not doing this change much sooner, like before killing that deer with the scoot (would have been cheaper & much less painful). I figure if I can go from 70 Mph to 0 Mph, within Grandpagak's yard frontage (no traffic behind), with stock 2 piston calipers. This setup is, good enough for me.
  13. Then the cards will get wet, when he puts this into the pond, trying to do laps around it :rotf:.
  14. That is why I brought up the Mk1, as more needs to be changed, to do this particular upgrade. Others (visitors & members) will be reading this thread, looking for ideas on how to improve their braking action. Some will have a Mk1 & others a Mk2, so the parts list will be different, depending on budget. BTW with the Buckeye SS Braided line kits. ALL flex lines are changed, brake & clutch, so that should be 6 lines for the Mk2.
  15. Do you actually think, they can incorporate a bunch of the things from our wish list, in 2 months, since the International Rally, next year maybe. Yamaha Canada was at this years International Rally, was taking notes & was also referred to the wish lists here, to send to the factory. One of the members there, was talking with them for about an hour. Go back & read the threads from the rally & you should find mention of that.
  16. Try a music instument store, they might have 5 pin right angle cords in stock (to stay under the rubber cover of the amp), not sure if you can find one in a short length though. I had previously found one about 10 feet long, just after I got my bike & was less than $15.
  17. Good thing, you had cards with you..............
  18. Call one up close to your location & ask. Tell them you are travelling & from out of the local area. You may get it in right away. Also this may be done under warranty, depending on when the bike was first bought, by you or a previous owner (if any).
  19. Just thought of another source, of the fluid transfer. It could be that oval piece in between the cylinders, that also has coolant & oil in sections of it (quasi heat exchanger). If I remember correctly, that has O ring seals & there has been reports of leaks there before. Check these simpler things first before, thinking of something major, as it is usually something simple.
  20. Interesting tool, would like to hear, on how that works on the left side bearing of the rear wheel. That one is a PITA & can't normally remove with the needle bearings intact.
  21. Royal Star is NOT included in the list............ Not positive, if cash or store credit, but looks like cash, Yamaha has been known, to use "Yamabucks" before.
  22. Nice jury rig solution, good thinking..............
  23. So when are you going to fuel the scoot, from all the methane gas being expelled??????? :rotf:
  24. Probably the bad news is, she will be busy here, stirring the pot again.........
