  1. I think, that you already did, with this post......... Any thoughts on who will get your first gens???? :rotf:
  2. Franks are ported & also includes new nylon/plastic bushings for the head of the damper rod. There has been about a $30. price increase over the last 2 years (if the price quoted is from "Forking by Frank"), since I got mine. They will also do 1/2 sets (1 tube), but it is my preference to change out both tubes.
  3. The aftermarket forks are probably, "Forking by Frank" http://www.frankmain.qpg.com/ & are of good quality & good service (no charge cards accepted, but they take USPS or Canada Post money orders). For new upper fork tube bushings you can go OEM for a later year (not listed seperately for '83) or Racetech (same upper tube & lower bushings for entire 1st gen listings). More info http://www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-46234.html http://www.racetech.com/evalving/english/Srchpr.asp?bikeid=573&manufacture=Yamaha&model=XVZ1200+Venture&year=83%2D86&TABLEINFO=street&langname=english
  4. It's not Gary you will need you keep an eye out for, but Anne, as those are her birds....... Russ, you will possibly need to make a xtra large deep fryer, for deep fried BUBBER (if Anne gets her hands on him).......... :rotf:
  5. I think it was DonB, that did that. But he was burned by a new member & was having trouble, getting some replacement components. So he may have stopped, doing this service for us. BTW has any one seen him on the site lately????
  6. The bullet connector is the one to tighten (temp sending unit), as the spade connector is the ground for the fan motor........
  7. Nope, the outer circlip on that side, holds the splined assy onto the wheel hub. While you are at it, pull that too & grease the pins.
  8. Your right on the manual about that. Trying to get that left side bearing out, is a PITA. I had found that the inside wheel casting prevented me , from just tapping the bearing out. The casting extends too far towards the shaft, compared to the left needle bearing (I think it ensures that the separate inner race stays in place). There was no place to grab it with a bearing puller, thus the destructive removal to replace it. One thing I had done, was to file a couple of grooves into the casting (with the bearings out), for easier removal of that left bearing in the future. But care must be taken, to clean out the filings, from the wheel casting (including the center area), prior to installing the bearings. Re-installing that bearing is easy, I just gently tap it into place, using a block of wood & a then suitably sized socket for final seating.
  9. Take your ear plugs out & the 2nd gen blinders off.......... That is a smaller item, compared to other things, that happen between members.......... You know it too, right Brad...........
  10. Ben, you would have been S.O.L., with any hitchhiker.... As I brought my own helmet & you didn't have a spare helmet with you...............
  11. Not really, the inner race is a seperate part & just slides in. Getting the outer race & needle bearings out is destructive, so they are only removed to be replaced. But the needle bearings can easily be lubed in place.
  12. Mini, looks like you will be S.O.L., for riding any scoot of your own........ At least for now............................. :rotf: Could this law, be construed as discrimination, against dwarf riders????????
  13. Same here, the closest one is over an hour away....... This scam would not happen, up here, at this time of year (too cold).........
  14. I'm guessing, that you kept this scoot away from the pond & the pond monsters...............
  15. Will do, FLUFFY............ :snow:
  16. Ruffy normal:rotfl::rotfl:, it could never happen......... Probably is a tie in, possibly won't share (they won't last him, as long)............
  17. Sorry charlie...... No pics made it into the posting.........................
  18. Cdn Military (it is in the supply system), that stuff has a NATO Stock #. I also know someone that used it on a cracked engine case (Harley) & re- tapped the hole. I have used it a little, over in Bosnia, as well.
  19. Something we use, when needed. http://www.devcon.com/products/products.cfm?brandid=1&familyid=107
  20. Check with a local dealer, can't remember off hand if it's in the Parts Canada or the Motovan catalog. Progressive Suspension, also usually recommends 15 weight fork oil, be used.
  21. The CLASS will only be powered & illuminated when the key is in the ACC postion, not in the Run position. I just wanted to make sure, that you understand this, before looking for errors.
  22. You did........... After all, you did buy a 2nd gen & that should be more than enough, to qualify..............
