  1. Guess some of them, are always up for some target practice. But wouldn't a moving target be better, so take the cage & not your scoot. :rotf:
  2. Correct, but there was an aftermarket chrome one made, for the Mk1.....
  3. Same here, but it helps Don out............
  4. I think he posted in the wrong forum....... Hey Wrongway, have you been giving him directions?????????
  5. Nope, he has a 1st gen Mk2 (1300 CC), 1986 in fact. I had installed the Ebay filter adapter this winter, on my 83. The thaw is starting to happen, so time to finish putting the scoot back together.
  6. Looks like there will be more Pie & Cheesecake, for everyone at Don's maint day. The reason I think this, probably after posting the comment above, Big Tom will not be getting any........
  7. Are you suggesting putting power to a ground lead????? The spade connector plugs into the thermostatic switch, which closes the connection (grounds the circuit, allowing the fan to turn on), when at the set tempature. the bullet connector (behind the spade connector), is for the temp guage sending unit. Some have wired in a toggle switch along with the sensor. Just run another wire to the sensor & tap in, connect the other end to a toggle switch. The other side of the toggle switch connects to a ground point. This set up comes in handy, when sitting in traffic jams. But when moving, the fan rarely kicks in.
  8. Hopefully this will give you some insight, into some of the bikes features.
  9. Your bike is what we refer as a "Mk2" (1300 CC engine), with a totally different pressure plate setup. Yes, Barnett has a conversion kit for it.
  10. Take a closer look in the spring & cap holes, if I remember correctly, any cracks are usually on the side against the rotor.
  11. Don, I think there is a error here, in this posting (BOLD).....
  12. Again??? He already did that................ Read the quote above yours, in this post.....
  13. http://www.barnettclutches.com/products/clutch_plates_springs.aspx?type=clutches_other&clutch_make=Yamaha&clutch_cc=1200 Spring kit Barnett #501-50-06053 Cross reference for spring kit (other bikes) http://www.barnettclutches.com/search/results.aspx?cmd=showresults&prod_pn=501-50-06053 http://www.flatoutmotorcycles.com/eshopprod_cat_4128-19112-28436_product_498648.BARNETT_CLUTCH_DISCS_AND_SPRIN.htm CLUTCH SPRING SET YAM 1131-0643 $22.95 You can get the gasket from Flatout MC too...
  14. Just the Barnett springs are needed, as the scoot is a 84 (1200 cc). The pressure plate conversion is for the 86 & up motors (1300 cc). When I changed mine out, there was about 1/2" difference in the uncompressed length, between the old ones & the Barnetts. It cured mine of this problem, was a $20. CDN fix.
  15. Flatout Motorcycles (great to deal with) & put in that you are a member here in the comments box. http://flatoutmotorcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?category=Motorcycles&make=Yamaha&year=1983&fveh=4522
  16. Now, who would think of you, having actually grown up (don't think so), growing older yes, no doubt of that.............. :rotf:
  17. Maybe this page???? http://www.eastpenn-deka.com/default.aspx?pageid=510
  18. Rocket

    D'OH!

That is why, I reversed the internal cable on mine, as it can't be lost. Yes, it is more involved to lube it this way, but so what.....
  19. Check this out https://www.chopperscycle.com/page/VTS/PROD/53-274-75/22345
  20. It is mounted below the slave cylinder. I had found that the one on Friesman1's bike was loose & leaking oil as a result. Try tightening the 3 mounting screws, but not too tight, as the plastic plate can be be brittle & crack. His had erratic readings, sometimes working & sometimes not.
  21. Like I told you before, I'll gladly take it off your hands, as it is a bolt on fit, for my rear bumper setup......
  22. I think, that you already did, with this post......... Any thoughts on who will get your first gens???? :rotf:
  23. Franks are ported & also includes new nylon/plastic bushings for the head of the damper rod. There has been about a $30. price increase over the last 2 years (if the price quoted is from "Forking by Frank"), since I got mine. They will also do 1/2 sets (1 tube), but it is my preference to change out both tubes.
  24. The aftermarket forks are probably, "Forking by Frank" http://www.frankmain.qpg.com/ & are of good quality & good service (no charge cards accepted, but they take USPS or Canada Post money orders). For new upper fork tube bushings you can go OEM for a later year (not listed seperately for '83) or Racetech (same upper tube & lower bushings for entire 1st gen listings). 25. It's not Gary you will need you keep an eye out for, but Anne, as those are her birds....... Russ, you will possibly need to make a xtra large deep fryer, for deep fried BUBBER (if Anne gets her hands on him).......... :rotf:
