  1. Someone needs to get the cuffs out, you stole it....... Considering, the front fender trim & particularly the caliper / rotor trim pieces that are on it, are basically impossible to find....... :mo money:
  2. I believe the term used these days is "mentally challenged"......
  3. Not all 1st genners have parts bikes, or more than 1, of the same type..... Others have serious cases of M.B.D., like Muffinman, Condor & StuD (which one am I going to ride today)......
  4. Looks like the problems, are mostly from Ontario & Ohio........ Hey Juggler, is this new link is going to be put into the library pages????? Or will we need to bookmark it, for others that ask??
  5. Isn't it your job, to point the road out to Dale.........
  6. :thumbsup2:Yup, gotta remind Boomer, on who is ahead of him.......
  7. Because, bikes are not allowed inside the DQ.................
  8. Looks like your son, has been parking in the garage (from that pic)..... I guess, you have been keeping him away from the pond........ :rotf:
  9. Did you dis-connect the stock tail light? If so, that could be why it is the headlight icon shown (running lights). I know that the tail light icon shows, if a brake light modulator controls the brake light. As I have this installed on my bike.
  10. 7,500 on mine in 1st & 75 Mph in 2nd......... Haven't tried, topping out the other gears. I wonder if the inner shift linkage is making contact with the stator cover or engine casing in the middle gear area, causing it to stop & only giving you 1st gear. Better check both ends of this linkage, to ensure it is not an adjustment problem (adjust position on the splined shifter shaft under the middle gear). If nether of these shift linkages is setup wrong, you shouldn't be able to pull up to get 1st. One of those linkages must be setup wrong
  11. Sounds like the "Back Off XP" unit is installed & the continuous flash output lead is making contact, to the lead connected to the brake lights. On these units there is 2 output leads, the first behaves like your engine off application, the other is continuous flash. Locate the unit & tape off any unused leads.
  12. Only a few days, for wild hair 39........ He is all over North America, never sure where he will show up next.........
  13. Then you should be funding this Russ..........:mo money:
  14. Sounds like the pedal linkage is hooked up wrong, pressing down to go up in gears & up to down shift. Try pressing down to get the other gears, this could be your entire problem...... But it can be fun to watch someone not familiar with the bike. But not so good, as an Anti Theft, as these 1st gens will go 50 Mph in 1st gear.
  15. Most likely air in the line, at the steering neck area. Also, it is a good idea to re-build the rear master cylinder. Flatout, usually has the best O.E.M. part prices. The S.S. Braided line set from Buckeye includes all the flex lines for the bike + sealing washers, middle gear gasket & adds a bleeder at the steering neck area (the high point of the rear brake circuit). If you can afford to do it, go for it. You could possibly be saving yourself physical pain & recouperation time as a result. http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/p04.htm Friesman1 now has the S.S. Braided lines on his bike & believes the line change, has made a huge improvement, in braking ability. All the pressure is applied to the calipers & not expanding the O.E.M. lines, resulting in caliper pressure loss. I have no affiliation with Buckeye. I am just a customer that, still kicks myself for not putting the S.S. Braided lines on the scoot much sooner. Had I put them on when I first saw them, my scoot possibly would not be nicknamed the "Deerhunter", for having a confirmed kill.
  16. I think the clutch rod seal will be the tricky one, due to lack of room to put a hand in there. The shift shaft seal should be easier, as the your fingers can come up from below. I believe, the switch can be replaced from the side, without pulling the exhaust collector. So far, I have only worked on these, while the engine is out for other reasons.
  17. Drain the oil Disconnect the shifter linkage from the shift shaft, under the middle gear assy (middle gear cover will probably need to be removed for doing it). You will be able to now get at the rest from the right side, by opening the shift shaft mechanism & pulling it out some. Aside from the missing pin that is probably sitting in the oil pan or oil pump pickup screen, the pin retainer should be replaced. Re-assemble in reverse order & re-fill the oil.
  18. The switch is below the clutch slave cylinder, you will need to pull it out to change the O ring. But most likely the screws have loosened off. It may be an idea to use some thread locker on the screws. As it sounds like Friesmans has started to loosen off again & there are cracks around the screw holes on his, he didn't want to change it out at the time.
  19. When I was into Friesman1's scoot, the three screws holding the switch in place was loose. There is an O ring fitted to the switch housing. Is it not always indicating neutral or correct gear??? That is an indication of a loose switch. You will need to pull the middle gear cover, to closely check these items.

  21. The bracket change should work, but the slice method will work, with longer bolts & nuts. I done the slice method on mine, a couple of years ago.
  22. If you have a sticking float in a carb, the line to that carb will dump the excess fuel on the ground & it wont spill onto the engine........
  23. At least it wasn't the throttle hand.......
