Bob was still talking of triking Goldie, after buying his 2nd gen, a few days ago.... Yes, I knew of the new scoot, before most of you did........

Battery cables are a bit under sized (hot start issue), aside from that, normal maintenance & a few upgrades. Progressive fork springs are also a great upgrade, to do, Tires don't seem to last, here on the praries (for the milage), I wore the center tread sections out of both tires last year. :mo money: BTW where in Alberta are you???

1st gen radio information
Rocket replied to timgray's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Not as bad cost wise, as trying to find all the goodies needed, to put in a Mk2 cb radio. As for the J&M cb2003 (Solo) pinout, I have it here. I asked the President of J&M for the info & had received it. I had also ordered a few, right angle 6 pin DIN plugs, from Digi-key. Now to get around to ordering the cb & antenna ect. So, here the J&M cb pinout.......- 76 replies

Rocket replied to PRAIRIECOOT's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I just got off the phone with him, he is not getting fuel out of one of the carbs, via the drain (he tried this after I asked him to), it seems the other was getting fuel. -
Or the Venture cage.....

Progressive Springs
Rocket replied to Scooter's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
With the spacer in, yes, it is basically a 2 person job to get that last bit of downward pressure needed. This is with me standing on the foot pegs & pressing down on a 1/2" drive "speed handle" attached to the 17mm allen head socket. Without the spacer, it is very easy to do it solo. -
On the 83 & 85 the wiring harness ground point is basically behind the throttle cable junction, at the left front frame mounting point, for the plate that the tci & coils bolt to. So you will probably need to remove the left fairing to get at the ground wires.

Progressive Springs
Rocket replied to Scooter's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you are getting the Progressive Suspenson springs, their part # is 11-1112 & that is for all 1st gens. Some members run without any air in the front, after installation, I had installed Friesman1's without the preload spacers, so his new taller windshield will clear his "garage" opening & he still was not using air in the forks, as of last weekend. -
Now this will make it confusing for old Snarley............... Did you mean 1 or 12 of them??????? Can't let the old guy get too confused, otherwise he may end up, being like Black Owl........

Sounds like the throttle cables need a good lubing (at the least). To do a good job of it & get at all the cables with a cable lubing tool, the left fairing will need to come off, to check & lube all the cables at the junction block.

Lost my front master! Geesh!
Rocket replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
One thing I do if needed, is to connect an shorter old line to the master & put the other end into the reservoir, so it is submerged. I pump the fluid through, until no more air will be moved though the line (this is refered to, as "bench bleeding"). After this is done, I re-connect the fitted line to the master (do not move the lever without the line attached & bleed some more as needed. Hopefully this will be of help to you. -
spin on oil filter?
Rocket replied to EddyG's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If your adapter looks like this one http://rivcoproducts.com/products/product.php?productid=93&cat=431&page=1 you are limited in filters that you can use. Maybe the adapter itself, has loosened up, causing your problem.....- 6 replies
