  1. That's why this year, I kept it to 2 days riding time to get to / from a meet. As I didn't have a lot of extra time to use, just to get to & from the meets. This year I had a 2 day head start with being in eastern Alberta, don't know about next year's location yet.....
  2. Had to unpack the camera first, as the pics would be helpful to him.
  3. Ok, maybe Black Owl was in error, when he told me that, earlier this week.
  4. So the International meets are no longer alternating between the US & Canada, as previously intended???? That is why, I had suggested the Nelson BC meet as it is already in the works, just need to add some things to it.
  5. I have a few pics, that I took, which will be below. Remove left side lower fairing, left side case guard & foot peg along with shifter pedal linkage. Drain oil from the main drain plug & middle gear cover bottom bolt. Re-install drain plug afterwards. Remove middle gear cover & dis-connect wires for the stator & ignition pickup. Also un-route those wires, so the case can be pulled away to do the inner stuff & clean the gasket surfaces. Remove outer clip & washer for shift shaft passing through stator case, remove stator case. Remember there is magnetic attaction between the rotor & stator, also the starter drive gears will fall out. Remove the protective cover for the stator wires (normally #3 phillips screwdriver). Remove the 3 @ #3 screws holding the stator into place. They can be very tight /difficult (possible threadlocker usage). Clean all gasket mating surfaces, with stator out & wipe out the inside of the case afterwards. Install new stator & I use threebond #1194, at the location where stator wires pass through the case. I want to ensure there is no leaks, between case & the rubber. I grease the gaskets prior to install, as it will seal & make it easier to remove them again, if needed to. I place the gasket onto the engine itself, along with the locating dowels. Slide the shift shaft, into the case, after lubing. Ensure the linkage is towards the top & no washer has dropped off the shaft, while doing the prior work. Make sure the starter gears are in position & slide the stator case back into position. You may need to tap the front end of the case with the heel of your hand. Install the Allen bolts, they are just fairly snug & less than 20 Ft Lbs. Route the stator & ignition pickup wires, close up the retainers & re-connect the wires into the harness. Re-install the outer washer & circlip for the shifter shaft. Install the middle gear cover, gasket & the Allen bolt with the copper washer, sits in the bottom position (6 o'clock). Re-install the footpeg & outer shift linkage. Add required amount of oil. Start up the engine & test voltage output. Re-install anything else removed
  6. On the date this thread was started, I rode from Cody WY, through Montana to Taber Alberta. I was wearing my mesh jacket too, what nice weather for the trip.
  7. I left Cody friday about 11:00 AM & arrived in Taber Alberta (overnight stop) about 11:30 PM. Today, I arrived in Wainwright about 4:00 PM. On part of my route north, I was on Hwy 87 & was it ever nice to be riding through mountians with a forest.
  8. Too bad Red, you wouldn't be able to make it. But the point I had made to Leadwolf by PM was to have a Western International meet in rotation & not to have a week of hard riding, just to get to every International meet & another to get back from it. Which side of the border it is on, is not as much of a concern. I had thought of the Kootneys, as the basics is figured out & can be expanded on. After this Cody meet, with having to change out 2 stators, I am considering bringing the mobile shop to Nelson next year. I hate trailering the scoot, as most that have met me, realize. BTW: Brian is close to my height & a little lighter than Grandpagak, currently is.
  9. Actually I'm not from a frozen wasteland, ask GeorgeS what the Seattle winter is like, as my home is just under couple of hours north of there & west, on Vancouver Island. I'm just currently working, in a frozen wasteland with no scenery, aside from the Buffalo herd on Base. Red you will really enjoy, the twisties in the mountians. The area, has so many exellent rides & sights to see, it can be hard to narrow them down for the time frame. I won't be able to head it up, as I am not in the area, but I will assist in setting things up & help where I can. Let our "Kruzin the Kootneys" people, chime in.
  10. Nope, SATA is completely different, from IDE. None of the connection cables for the drive are compatable, not even the power.
  11. Dennis Kirk had 3 of Rick's Motorsports Electrics stators in stock & we are getting 2 of them shipped in overnight. We will have them this morning by the sounds of it. I am also getting 2 sets of gaskets overnighted in, as well, from the local dealer. So both bikes should be done by mid afternoon. We needed a stator for Marvins bike (StuD's sidekick) & one for Grandpagaks as well (so much for putting that one off, with his spare battery in the trunk trick).
  12. The Kootneys is fantastic riding & gets my vote. If we do another Eastern International meet Vs out West, maybe we better split the International meet into two or three regions. One meet for Eastern, a Western meet & maybe a Central one as welll. For you Americans that can't be bothered to get a passport, fine don't & stay home. Remember us Canucks need passports to head south into the states, for these meets.
  13. They are here & we are working on getting a stator for the scoot. Buckeye doesn't have any cores re-wound & that will take 2 weeks, to be done.
  14. Current plan is they will overnight in Butte & use the limp in method tomorrow. They pulled the rectifer / regulator & tried it in the other bike (it worked), so that leaves the stator. StuD will try to get one OVERNIGHTED over to the motel. Seeing it is Sunday today, that means Tues at the earliest, that one will show up. Too bad that I mailed my old one to Buckeye, earlier this week (from PIP location), as that one only had a partial failure & would have kept him running for the longer trips. As I was able to make it from Nelson BC back to Wainwright AB, with that failure & it was a 2 day ride.......
  15. Stu, I thought of something while having lunch (while we were waiting a call with update). If you got a pair of light jumper cables, you can run the both bikes down here, by alternating the batterys in the bikes. Depleting one in the problem bike & charging the other in the good bike. That could be a "limp in method", use the jumper cables to start the bike with the depleted battery...... As for testing a multimeter is needed, I have one with me. I spoke with Condor, if you can do the "limp in method" partway along the route previously discussed, we can meet up on I-94. Also we can not contact you by phone, so you call Condor....... Jack just called & switch batterys every 100 miles, as to not completly deplete the battery & the trip can be made all the way in.
  16. Not yet, still trying to determine if scoot can be fixed here, or just load it into a U haul, for trip back. As it is a 12 hour round trip by my guesstimate, to go get it.
  17. Ok StuD, looks like a truck & trailer will be coming up to you from Cody. As I just woke Condor to notify him of the problem. Good thing to have a trailer available, for these meets. Will need your cell #...............
  18. Skyline Motel, 1919 17th St Cody, Wy Condor is in #48 & I'm in #36
  19. I left Grandpagak's this afternoon, trying to miss most of the Minnasota downpours (didn't really work) & stopped for the night in Dickinson North Dakota. At one of the hotels I stopped at, looking for a room, there was a person outside the entrance, that started to look over the scoot. He was here on company travel, flys back home tomorrow, back to his 83 Venture standard in Alberta & I told him to look at my plate. He had mentioned this site & I pointed out the Venturerider.Org across my windshield, I had run across Oilpatchbiker, here in North Dakota...... On my way, from the PIP location to the Cody Roundup. So you can never tell when or where, you will meet another member...
  20. Quite likely, that would be my first guess as well..........
  21. Maybe he can do it, from the submersable riding lawn mower. There is a creek at the far back of Gary's place.... :rotf:
  22. Russ, I'm leaving by scoot from Gary's tomorrow, will be on I-94 for most of the trip west. He is still having charging issues, but his scoot is on the trailer & not the borrowed 1100 GW.
  23. The only places it is used is the driveshaft yoke nut & the brake rotor mounting screws... I don't need to buy it by the case like you..........
  24. The rooster survived another PIP , as I blocked Bubbers access to the chicken coop, with my tent. :rotfl: BTW: Black Owl actually rode his scoot to breakfast this morning, it was the only time that he rode it all weekend, as it went back on the trailer this afternoon...........
