  1. I have found that mine can be fun to get initially started, after trailering an extended distance. Possible flooding from fuel sloshing around, during transit??? Hopefully it is just that simple of a problem, with yours.
  2. He has a garage, it gets its yearly clean out, for the PIP meets..........
  3. I get the winter stock ones, with the zip out fleece liner. As for the rain pants, there is a zipper, but are too tight to put on with the boots still on. In other words, sit down, remove boot, insert leg, put boot back on (I do it with normal pant leg inside top of engineer type boot) & zip up cuff on outside of boot.
  4. Yup, been wearing them for years. They have always kept me dry in the very heavy downpours (cloudbursts) & thunderstorms, that I have ridden through. Muffinman has stayed dry in a set, that I sent him. Mini Muffin & Stud Muffin hasn't had a chance to test theirs yet........
  5. Or the used "tissue", stuck to the underside of the table???? Using other paper &/or cobs, will probably clog the plumbing if dumped in the throne, to be flushed away......
  6. Looking good........:thumbsup2:
  7. Threaded body clips, screws & spacer washers that help protect the holes in the ABS (where the mounting screws pass through). Best to look at a exploded parts diagram, to get a better idea on fitment.
  8. Wasn't sure, if I should have even opened the thread, by your choice of Title......
  9. Clean connectors & check for tightness including the ground. Also might be an idea to pull the windshield to look for loose connections on the back of the gauge itself. If the gauge connections look loose, you will need to pull more, to get at them.

    Ouch

Lots of lube will be used, as Russ isn't very steady......:rotfl:

You can do a trip, up this way. I have the May long weekend booked off. :rotf:
  12. Yup, outstanding in his field, which is waaaaaaaaaaaayyy out in left field...... I'm surprised, he let it be known to all, already. Vic, were you about to spill the beans??? I thought it would have been a while yet, so I was slowly, starting to play up the 91with Friesman1. :rotf:
  13. That socket could possibly, also be used on the swing arm bearing lock nuts. On the 1st gen, the bearing lock nuts are the same size, as the clutch nut.
  14. Or Big Tom & Boomer CPO after ODing on cheesecake...........
  15. Rick, not for a 1st Gen........... I guess you got feeble minded, since going 2nd gen...... :rotf:
  16. Nope, a bit of a side slope with higher on left side. He should have parked with the front wheel facing uphill, or by the garage. I have parked there a few times......
  17. You should have thought of that, Dan.........................
  18. With the stuck bleeder. What I have done before, on a friend's new to him 82 CB750SC, where I had to re-build the calipers & one bleeder was very stuck. I used a 6 point socket, 3/8" - 1/2" adapter & an air impact gun to remove a stuck bleeder. The impact gun seems to work, where an power bar would be more likely to snap it.
  19. Any problem (for anyone around), with backfires through the exhaust system????? :rotf: Couldn't resist, had another blizzard (not the DQ type) yesterday:bang head: & waiting for the resulting mess to melt.............
  20. That is why I suggested, using his current middle gear assy, so things will not need to be re-shimed. They should already be properly set, unless the pinion gear output seal & crush collar was changed & the backlash was not adjusted. But that would have showed up previously, if not done correctly.
  21. Time to check the stator, I suspect you had a winding drop out on you. As that is about the same voltage of a bike with a crispy stator winding. I had the same voltage range last year, while away on a trip. I had ordered another stator after getting back to base, from the Kootneys.
  22. I would do it while sitting on a bike lift, as I suspect that the rear suspension will collapse, depending on which bolts are pulled. Why take a chance on that happening. A bunch of 2nd genners have the Carbon1 lift adapter (see classifieds) & find it handy for doing routine maint.
  23. One thing you can do, is use the complete newer gearset, with your current middle gear assy. It is an easy swap, no re-shimming required, just compress the shaft / middle gear as doing 2nd gear, swap in your middle gear & re-assemble. But I would still use new thrust washer & split locks retaining the middle gear to the shaft.
  24. Yup, lots to put back together. Good time to check / lube the throttle & choke cables, during assembly (if not already done).
  25. Do the same solder fix, as the CLASS controller, on the CMS as well. The CMS also gets, the cold solder joint problem. This should fix the fuel guage & maybe the power / ground connections. As it looks like one of those was disturbed, in the previous handling, of the CMS unit (re-check the plug too). As always, post on your repair results.
