Yup, this is the place to initially start & then go deeper if needed. If not needed now, I would keep the caliper & MC rebuilds / change outs, for a later time like PMS. Regardless, the bleeder screw should be done now, with its current problems.

Stalled and sweaty, why?

That also sounds like, Condor & Black Owl, now that you mention it........ -
The leg heaters are to the inside of the legs... The ones in front will blow air at them, creating a bit of a breeze, but no air conditioning, so it is air at local temps......

Have you tried, asking the mail order call center, about the MC Tire adapter????? They may be able to find one in another store & get it shipped to you.

Maybe from Calamarie, but he is too far away....... Besides, I don't think you want him, tending to your butt. Good to see you posting again..... :thumbsup2:

A new really bad noise.
Rocket replied to Flyinfool's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Nope, the wheel spline & dive pin assy is held in place, by a circlip on the wheel hub. You haven't noticed it, during your winter work projects or tire changes????? If you're that blind, maybe time to go to a 2nd gen...... -
preserving 2nd gear
Rocket replied to Dbeck's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Skipping 2nd gear, is normally done after, it starts jumping out..... Many, continue on for years, before getting around to fixing it. Less parts are needed, to fix the issue, before it becomes a problem. Makes a great winter project, if you are handy with tools. -
Look at item #36, on the 1985 XV 1200D. For 83 & 84, it was only listed as part of the fork tube (look at the bottom end of the upper tube & you will see it). It sometimes helps, to do some cross referencing, with these bikes. Remember with Yamaha, the bushings are listed as 1 each (not a pair). So you will need to order 2 of each bushing, to do both fork legs.
-
Also, if doing the lower bushings, do the ones on the upper tubes as well (listed seperately on diagrams for later years) these bushings are the same 83 -93. Yamaha #3JJ-23171-00-00 Race Tech info included, for comparing Mk1 & Mk2 parts.

Cruise Control on First Gen
Rocket replied to KenP's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The 83 did not come with OEM Cruise control, but Vetter Mfg made one for the 83 & 84 Ventures. I know this because I have an 83 VR & recently bought an Vetter Cruise control unit NIB (new in box), from one of my suppliers of Venture Parts. -

Intro and a few newbie questions
Rocket replied to saltcreep's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Some of us, use good grease with Moly in it. Yup, the pumpkin is the rear end.... Look into putting progressive springs into it as well, the stock fork springs are cr*p. -
That would not be a new noise, just the same old one.........

Ouch is right.... As it is not fun, having pain going down both legs. Like in my case, when I had the same injury. Hopefully, he will be pain free soon. :fingers-crossed-emo:canada:

Now stuck on clutch
Rocket replied to bkuhr's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yup, it is splined & that in itself, throws people off... They think, it goes under the boss nut, if not checking the parts diagrams.- 10 replies

Now stuck on clutch
Rocket replied to bkuhr's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The cover is off, so pull the pressure plate off & look at the inner hub boss nut, is the splined thrust washer placed under it & the locking tab??? If so, you need to move it, so it is between the outer basket & inner hub. Not having the thrust washer in the correct location, will produce the effect of basket & hub locked together. It may be an idea, to verify, that it was even placed in between the hub & basket (not accidently left out during re-assembly). Remember to re- torque the boss nut afterwards & re-assemble the clutch assy.- 10 replies
