  1. For those that missed the initial thread by the OP, like Dano, for the singe pic (so far)...... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=58735
  2. Greater Vancouver transit & other local surcharges........ That is why I filled up in Chilliwack, on my way through 3 weeks ago. The BC gas tax had included a portion for BC Ferries & this is before HST was added into the mix. So there is taxes on top of taxes, but nothing new there.....
  3. Most likely........ Hey Mini, you gonna dunk Don, in the dunk tank (wearing his bikini)??? :rotf:
  4. I prefer to look over the windshield, as I do ride in the rain (downpours) & want to see the road in those conditions. Most of the wind is deflected, but I don't need to try & hang on, as if I didn't have a windshield on. I have done 80 mph test runs, with the windshield still off, had to hang on to stay in the seat.
  5. If you're changing the fork oil too, I just pull a drain screw, with a bucket ready to catch the stream & then drain the other side as well, before pulling the caps. Remember to support the front of the frame (so wheel is off the ground), before pulling the caps.........
  6. On the earlier Ventures, the bushing for the upper fork tube, was only shown as part of the tube. Look up a later year (like a mk2), as it is the same bushings for all 1st gens.
  7. I have an 83 & a 86 on the other side of the malahat. A friend back in the Wainwright area, just got an 85 & a 86 from Sask. He had called me on monday, wishing I was still there & to source some parts (battery, starter ect).
  8. If he was, don't think he would have finished so soon.... I think he had gotten wedged (stuck) in there, before too.
  9. That is your problem.... Deal with it.
  10. Got back to the island again on tuesday, was in Victoria, chilliwack & Richmond on monday. Just got back home from the ride, I got delayed about an hour, until the heavy rain was past (rain gear still packed). Looks like the conditions will be interesting, for my trip to Shilo Manitoba, at the end of this month.
  11. Ok, I will briefly think of you, while out on the scoot today.....
  12. I had them, but they were in too bad of condition to bother fixing (had to cut the CLASS controller out). I got new ones at Partshark, for a good price.
  13. Thanks Bob, I haven't the time to get back to this. Been bouncing around BC the last 2 days, back into Victoria tonight.
  14. Try riding with the clutch lever held fully out with your fingers & if the cruise works, you may have some air in the clutch slave cylinder. I found this with my 86 last summer.
  15. Too much fun, teasing Russ......... Need to bolt his scoot, to the trailer again for Cody. I prefer Peter Fonda, as in Wild Hogs & Ghostrider.
  16. A couple things come to mind, cracked solder joints on the cms, where the wiring harness plugs into it (info in 1st gen tech library). Another possibility is the fuel guage sending unit contacts. I would start with the cms first, before the fuel sending unit.
  17. Brad, I nailed Russ with that comment at PIP last year & got a high five, from Mikealiasmike for it...... You probably had seen, the blind guy riding a Harly (while being towed on a trailer, by the wife) commercial, of a couple of years ago.
  18. Don, I think he is Troy, look at the last part of his screen name........
  19. I don't see any training wheels on it, to keep it upright. So I guess he doesn't expect you, to try & ride it, at all (after all that effort, fixing it up).....
  20. Sorry Mike, but I have to agree with Russ, with the 1st gen.......... :thumbsup2: But on a side note.... Will there be another Chillie cookoff in Cody??????? I guess Russ will be trailering his scoot from Gary's over to Cody. As it had been there since the last PIP & Gary probably has put more milage on it than Russ.
  21. Ranger must be riding a 2nd gen...................... :rotf::rotf:
  22. It is not a question of affording a 2nd gen, but the inability to catch up to a 1st gen. In other terms, the bear caught the 2nd gen, but could not catch the faster & more nimble 1st gen....... :rotf:
  23. Great going Rick, I'm done in Wainwright too & back on the wet coast....... But I may see you in a months time, as I may be in Shilo on Ex for a week & just might have time too meet up while I'm there.
  24. Maybe contact GeorgeS, as he is in the Seattle area.
  25. He just may use that on his shoes, to get rid of the grass stains.
