  1. Now you depend on her, to fix yours....
  2. Did over 7,000 feet yesterday, on hwy 93 heading to Salmon ID with the 83 & 86 w/trailer, bikes ran great even at those elevations. Only gearing down needed, was for the hairpin turns.
  3. Having a beer over at Terrie & Irv's now & catching up on threads.
  4. Guess I didn't get it into tracking mode this morning (button not held long enough), it must of only did a check in, this morning. Rod was in a hurry to get started. We encountered rain, hail, snow & thought we were going to dump the bikes in a couple of road construction areas. So as a result it was slow going & needed a break after the road construction sites. Thus meeting the sherriff.
  5. Sherriff owns an 84 Venture standard, gave us a heads up on the pass. Thus the attempts to contact Terrie & Irv, included a borrowed sim card to make the phone call.... Will need to get a US prepaid sim card, so the phone can be used.
  6. Tracking has started, once we got off the island.
  7. Maybe not, but it has poured from buckets.....
  8. Acutally the desk looks cleaner (in the pics), than it was in 2007, when I was over at Ben's. This was, after flying to Ontario for a course & attending Marcarl's meet, while over there.
  9. Nope, I'm not & here is the proof in your first post "Last edited by saddlebum; Today at 11:30 PM."
  10. Combined with the title, who is going to lube the pond monsters???????
  11. Just the wires poking through. Look just in front of the waterpump, by the pipe connecting waterpump to the thermostat housing, is the engine ground. Other ground wires should be connected to the coil mounting bracket, under the left side fairing.
  12. So you should get there sooner, than if you were navigating.........

    long rides?

That is a warm up run for these.......... I have done, Alberta to Ontario & back for the 2008 international rally on the 83, then 2 weeks later went to Minnisota for a pig roast. The following year was a bit shorter, Nelson BC for a meet, 2 months later back to Minnisota for PIP & then to Cody Wyoming for the Venture Roundup, before heading back to work. Last year was only Nelson BC & Minnisota. But this years planned trip, makes the 2008 trip a medium stroll. Vancouver Island to Ontario, down to South Corolina & back over to Cody Wyoming, before heading back home. With various other stops in between, of course, this trip I will be riding the new to me 86 & my neighbour will be on my 83.
  15. :thumbsup2::thumbsup2: My 83 feels like a sport bike, after riding the 86 for the last month.
  16. Since you brought it it up, it might be able to pass, a walmart scooter....
  17. Guess that would be, 2 dozen banana splits (packed in dry ice) shipped up there.... After all, you would eat 3/4 of them yourself. :rotf::rotf:
  18. In his dreams, A Harley went ZOOM ZOOM Sorry, just could not resist, combining a couple of thread titles together.
  19. Or Flash frozen.....:rotf:
  20. $63.85 new @ partshark.com
  21. Look for any cracked solder joints on the CMS. But usually they are the ones for the plug terminals, that you had so much fun unplugging the other half from the CMS.......
  22. Yup, 1st postion to the left of "off" is forks locked & 2nd position to the left is forks locked & park lights on (draining the battery)....... So Brian, when did you try out this feature????
  23. Not knowing about those marks, closer to the slave cylinder opening. But one of the manually inscribed numbers by the serial # is for middle gear shimming, as per attached file.
  24. The upper clamps squeeze the top of the fork tubes, resulting in more resistance for unthreading / threading the caps. Loosen the clamp bolts to remove the added resistance.
