  1. BTW my bike is a 2007 RSTD. When I rebuilt my carbs I experienced the same leak, it just poured. As you see its just a slip fit. The material is a firm rubber compound. After a frustrated do over of assembly R/R of that part I found a very small split on the backside of this "T" fitting, +/- 1/16", it just poured. I finally replaced it and cured that leak. When this part was ordered, it took almost 3 months from Yamaha of Japan.
  2. Good morning, I too have gone down this quest to replace Mikuni shaft and seals. I have the conclusion that the shafts a an item that are only acquired thru donor carbs .As for the shaft seals, one has to search other makes of bikes that uses Mikuni carb(s). I have found the seals thru Suzuki. These match in every dimension, it's one of those mysteries why Yamaha doesn't list this part under it's own banner ...............and the bonus was I able to order the part and get it 3 days regular mail shipping. Suzuki 13651-51011 Here's a photo of the part. I am curious how the R/R shafts go for you....good luck.
  3. Thank you for your time and help
  4. The original owner "upgraded" the rear caliper to the '86, wanted the improvement due to pulling a Bushtec.
  5. '83 XVZ1200 .......... Looking for unseized rebuildable rear brake caliper.... Thanks for time and reply Leo
  6. Have you tried, 1oz slug?
  7. I can email a USPS shipping label. What are package dimensions, weight and ship from address?
  8. radio-amp still available?
  9. Oh, where to begin....in the 70's ........ Aside from the Sears two wheeled lawnmowers, TS185, DT400 Enduros, trail bikes....in 1986 my first Yamaha "big bike" a gently used XV920 so I could afford to do a 110 mi commute. Later got promoted to a two wheeled outside desk job, known as KZ1000P13. Rode KZs for 14 years 1997 had a golden opportunity to acquire a perfect mint 1983 XVZ1200. all the mechanical upgrades, second gear, porous engine case cast, alternator bolt, water pump impeller, the beefed up front fork etc. The Venture came w/ THE king of kings of aftermarket accy's....a custom paint matched Yamaha Black Bushtec trailer............. Again in 2017 was given the golden opportunity to acquire a well maintained 2007 RSTD... unfortunately california gas, missed maintenance schedules, and other life distractions....28 yrs of service... retirement Catch-up maintenance/repairs get'em back on the road again.......Profound attachment to venerable V4, doubt I'll ride anything else to the end. Whatever that definition of the "End" will be............
  10. I agree with the ability to fine tune each carb to each cylinder. Wish I didn't have this problem. For a relatively modern machine I've never experienced a total lack of a component(s) for a critical part. My example...carburetor throttle shaft and the seals at each end, deemed unserviceable, not available separately from carb. My bike inop. So far the only two sources I've found: OEM dealership assy $1700 (+/-) some semblance of part warranty, maybe 2-3 months ship time Junkyard pull off assy $400-500 (+/-) no warranty of any kind, especially non-returnable Given the oversimplified option (possibility) of 4 into 1, maybe the cost/availability was a consideration at $300-400. Get bike back on the road............ I was looking at future maintenance/repairs and solving availability of parts
  11. I thank all for your info. Opens up potential for other solutions. A little bit closer to getting back on road.
  12. I apologize for coming to topic 7 years late, due to my current situation i came across this solution just yesterday evening (10-27-2022). On ebay.....this four into one intake manifold was posted Venture Royale XVZ1200 and XVZ1300 single carburetor manifold 1982 - 1989, eBay item number:175240492411 Re-reading the topic thread, are really good considerations. For me it's about spending est. $1700 due to a very unreasonable "unserviceable" part(s) maybe $30.00 worth plus labor and time I estimate maybe $250-300 and some custom garage shop engineering, I would get a very agreeable carb set up and away from un-obtainable parts............... What's your thoughts, and really curios has anyone done this?
