  1. Put my registration and check in the mail this morning. I will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express, no camping for me:no-no-no:, Uncle Sam made me do enough of that in the Army. Also, I am going to try to score a couple of T-shirts from the local Yamaha shops for your raffle, any suggestions on sizes? Judging by most of the crowd I have met, XL or XXL would be needed:crackup:. Hey, I'm as guilty as anybody about hitting the Dairy Queen as much as possible.
  2. Lewis, add me to the list. 1 Large Green shirt. I will try to get the registration form in the mail to you this weekend. I will be flying solo. Looking forward to seeing everybody.
  3. If you have the time, a short ride up to Stowe, VT is a great place to stop. Just go north thru Waterberry. If you do add this side trip, of course you will have to stop in at Ben and Jerry's ( a little ice cream always makes a good ride better:crackup:). I ride up there every couple of years, always good roads. The Adirondaks are beautiful. Wish I had the time to ride up and and meet you. My wife has family in Vermont, so when we visit in the summer, the bike has to go with us. Hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip. Dave, who is green with envy!
  4. Hey Bobbie, when I click on the link, I am taken to PhotoBuckets home page. Do I need to do something different? Or is the link screwed up?
  5. You guys make it sound like I just stuck my face down in the middle of a whole pie. I only had one slice of apple pie, now it's not MY fault Bobbie served me such a large slice! And you know, I didn't want to offend her by not cleaning my plate. She sure can bake a mean apple pie! I am so glad the pine tree didn't take out the oven. Glad to see everyone, just wish we could have fixed Arts bike.
  6. Sorry to hear about the house, glad you guys were not eating dinner when the tree decided to fall. I got caught in the same storm on the highway not far from your house, got alot of hail. Pounded the ?$#@ out of my truck. Hope the insurance co. will take care of this for you.
  7. I bought the same exact system, it was a bugger to mount in a location that I liked. The amp went dead on me before I found a spot for the speakers that I liked so I just took everything off. You have to send the amp back to China to get warranty work. I have not decided if it's worth the hassle. Glad you are happy with it, mine sounded awesome (until it died).
  8. Great lookin' scoot. Why don't you ride that thing over to Columbia to Sleeperhawks mini-MD Saturday and show it off! If not, let's try to get together to put some miles on it sometime.
  9. I am more than glad to stand around and critique your wrenching skills, George. Just hope you have a plan for an ice cream run. I'll be there.
  10. The reply from your dealer saying there is no warranty code is BS. There are warranty codes for everypart of your bike. The code is basiclly two parts, the first part is the system code (reaer drive hub, front fork, dash, etc...) the second part is the failure code (leaking, unusual noise, premature wear, etc...). Yamaha does not assign codes for specific parts failures, such as rear drive making a clicking noise. The service managers don't like to do warranty work because they are only going to get paid for a specific amount of time to do the repair under warranty, no chance to gouge the customer for extra time. The ones that do take care of your warranty work in a good manner, usually are charging the customers only the book rate for non-warranty repairs, IE they don't gouge their paying customers all the time. OK I am off my soap box now. Sorry for the ranting.
  11. The mechanic at the Yamaha dealer here in Columbia, SC doesn't know anything about the Royal Stars nor does he want to know, he says that up front, hates the bikes. Now the store owner calls me when he has one that needs more than an oil change or tires. Of course, I used to be his jet ski mechanic, so he trusts my work. But to me, it is amazing that dealerships will sell the flagship of the Star brand and not have mechanics that can do the maintenance, especially when these bikes are not that difficult to work on. Maybe we should send some invitations to maintenance day.
  12. Glad to be of service Mini. But you didn't tell us what you wear. Any one care to take guess?
  13. Annie, I nearly busted my gut laughing. Then I started feeling sorry for your hubby. Ouch, that had to hurt! Never realized elastic could be so rough on the money maker. Learn something new everyday.
  14. Commando for me. Hey, you asked! Seriously, I find it more comfortable in the warmer weather, no monkey butt problems.
  15. I've owned a few bikes in my time, some good, some not so good. The good ones stayed around for quite awhile and racked up the miles, the bad ones didn't last more than a couple of months. I've had my TD since Feb. of '05, can't say it's the best there ever was, but it's certainly a very good bike. Easy maintenance, easy to put a lot of miles on in a day, and (in my opinion) easy on the eyes. Sounds like you have been riding for a LONG time and know what you want out of a bike. Maybe you could talk one of our members into a quick test ride to try one on for size. Heck, come on down to South Carolina and take mine for a spin, but no, you can't keep it, I'm still enjoying it way too much.
  16. Fripp Island is really nice if you are wanting to get away from it all. I would say it's the polar opposite from Myrtle Beach. The ride to Charleston will take you 2 hours, maybe just a little longer, the road to Fripp is just a two laner and usually your going to be behind somebody doing less than the posted speed limit. Just like Sleeperhawk said, if you give a heads up as to when you will be in the area, we can get a small group together and show you some South Carolina hospitality. Might even show you what shrimp and grits are all about.
  17. Just a quick update on the tunes. The Shark system freaking rocks. I hauled down the interstate doing 90 mph and could still sing right along with the Allman Brothers, and as some can testify, my pipes are some of the loudest around. I will get some pics up soon. I ended up buying the 250 watt system, best $120 I have spent on this bike. If any one is interested in a similar set up. pm me, I would be glad to help you out.
  18. I just installed a stereo set up very similar to that one on e-bay. I will let you know what I think about it after a ride tomorrow (Sunday) along with some pics. The install was very simple. Sitting in the garage, it sounded pretty good, but I have no idea what it sounds like at 70 mph yet. Stay tuned.
  19. :bang head:I will chime in about Charleston. Love the city, hate the politicians. First, a few years ago. they run the bike rally out of town. The board of aldermen came right out and said they didn't want the city to be associated with biker community. Then two years ago a new city ordinance was voted in that banned motorcycles from all public parking lots and garages. This caught me personally, as i was visiting the city with a few freinds and was told to park on the street at the meters.ended up with an $8 parking ticket because my meter had expired. My feeling on Charleston, if they don't want my bike, then obviously they don't want my money. So be it. Sorry to sound negative, but I don't want you or any other rider go to Charleston and get caught off gaurd the way I did. I'm not saying don't go, more like be prepared. I do hope you have an enjoyable time. After all, thats why we ride, to enjoy ourselves.
