Thank you to all my Brothers and Sisters in Arms of all branches who served beside me, behind me or infront of me. And a special Thank You to those that continue to uphold this Great Nations defense. The freedom that each of us now enjoy was paid for by those that paid the greatest price, let us never forget them! Dave (former US Army 19D Cav. Scout)

I've been playing with diamond plate
Pecker replied to Pecker's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I think I could probably hook you up. I was kind of thinking of doing those on my bike as well. Send me an e-mail (addy is in my profile) with a scan of your template. It might take me a few weeks, but I think it's do-able. -
If low sales were the reasoning for Yamaha to drop any particular bike line, they would drop every model they make right now cause bike sales across the country are at the lowest rate in quite a long time. Many dealers are still holding '08s as well as '09s. And that's not just Ventures, it's all models.

That's funny right there! The moderaters would probably have a fit. -

Thanks guys! My next plan is to make stick on covers to go over the passenger floorboard mount backing plates. Then maybe add some carb covers. Anybody have any suggestions for after this, I'm all ears. -
Mike, what shock did you put on, a stock replacement or an aftermarket? My reasoning is this, if you put on an aftermarket, you may have raised the rear end a touch and thrown the steering geometry a little out of whack. So when you really load the front end on a hard deceleration, your rake and trail figures will be off and cause issues like this. If you put a stock replacement on, I would play around with the air pressures to see if the problem goes away. Hope this helps, let me know if you would like to get together and let me take a look at it. I'd be happy to help. Dave

I decided to make some windshield lowers out of diamond plate aluminum. I think they turned out pretty good. Let me know what you think. I have some ideas for a few more items on the bike to be replace with this diamond plate.

ddoggma, I understand you'r motivation for your post, but as Bubber stated, this forum isn't the place for it. Let's take the highroad and say a prayer for the families and victims this tragedy has touched.

You are correct SilvrT, "energy efficient" or "with friction modifiers" are two phrases I would stay away from when selecting MC oil. Some claim to not have clutch slippage issues when using oils with this type of labeling, I am not doubting them nor am I endorsing either. Most are using this stuff trying to quiet down the screaming or chirping from the engine/tranny. I use Shell Rotella conventional, an oil formulated for heavy duty diesel engines. So far I have been using this oil for about 10,000 miles and have not experienced any problems. My main reasoning for using Rotella is the price, 12 bucks at Walmart for a gallon. I can't find a better deal on quality oil any where else. Well, thats my 2 cents worth. Dave

Come on now, Yammer. The Mountaineers in the Final 4? Really? Oh you must be talking about the NIT Final 4. Honestly, I hadn't heard much abour West Virginia's team this year, all ESPN wants to talk about is those dang Jayhawks and Mich. State. I'd like to see some new teams make the Final 4, have some divirsity. The Mountaineers would be a nice change. Anybody but Duke, Texas and Kansas! (Now lets watch Sleeperhawk get all riled up!)

Thanks Duke, you had to get George started about those $^&*% Jayhawks. We'll never hear the end of it! And NO, Sleeperhawk didn't put me up to it. But I bet he's laughing his a$$ off.

Hey, no fair! Your bringin a body gaurd! I don't want to tangle with Mini, unless she's bringin the whip! That gun she's holding is almost as big as her, looks like she's hunting for Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!!! I guess I've done it now, messin with Mini Muffin!

I guess now is the time I should start backpeddaling and apologize.... nope not gonna happen! I may be in for a serious smackdown in Savannah, so be it. I can take it as good as I dish it out! So bring it on.

What happened to your Hokies Thuesday night? Did they lose to the lowly Tarheels? Naw, no way that could have happened. Not in Blacksburg, their home turf. I just couldn't resist hacking on you a little bit, us 'Heels fans don't get to brag too much during football season. Now basketball season is a whole different story!! Dave

Sleeperhawk's New Instrument Panel Installation
Pecker replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
As George said, it has an o-ring. The problem with the potenttial leak is that the face of the threaded hole isn't machined to seal to an o-ring. Instead of using the industry standard for sealing metric fittings, Yamaha decided to use thread sealer, and lots of it for the water jacket plugs. Really makes the plugs hard to get out of the head.
