Bought my 2nd Royal Star, this time I wanted a Venture!
AABBCC replied to AABBCC's topic in Watering Hole
It comes with a 90-Day Rideability Warranty what ever that means. I'll find out more once I get the paper work tomorrow. - 28 replies

I don't see an "adjuster log in". I do see a "dealer log in" What website did you go to? I'm buying from Rumbleon.com not from npauctions.com If anything my experience with Rumbleon.com will help others, be it positive or negative. I'll post back my findings as they unfold. Apparently they buy sight unseen based on the VIN and perhaps a questioner. No sales rep visits the seller, it's all done by phone/email/mail. Once a deal has been struck the bike is picked up by Rumbleon or a partner and taken to a clearing house (NPA) where it waits to ship out to the buyer or is sold off at auction.- 28 replies

I'll check the VIN on the frame against the VIN on the motor when it arrives. From what I've gathered, the seller was from AZ, bike was kept garaged and they rode an average of 1k miles per year.- 28 replies

After test driving a couple of times now, would you buy one? Or would you spend more to get something else? -
I'm new to the forum, but no stranger to the Royal Star. Eventually traded my RSTD for a car some years ago and now it's time for another one. This time, I want the Venture and so the search began. Online, local, classifieds, marketplace etc and of course by doing so, I came across https://Rumbleon.com. Hesitant to buy online and have the bike shipped, I kept looking. After about a month, I circled back after reading more about their company, warming up to the idea of their online business model, making sure they were legit. (BTW, I don't work for and I'm not affiliated in any way other than I'm an actual customer) After I paid my online deposit I got a call explaining two details. First, bike had just been picked up from the customer and was on it's way to NPA for processing, which takes a few days. Second, upon arrival to NPA, a condition report needed to be completed. This also takes a few days. Just got the condition report today. 1999 Venture w/20k miles for $2,988 free shipping no dealer fee. I can back out now and get a full refund or if I commit, I'll have 3 days upon it's arrival to decide to keep it or restock it. $500 restocking fee. I think I'll roll the dice on this one! Paid by Visa over the phone with all the paperwork being sent to me next day air for me to sign and return. The bike will then travel to the Atlanta hub and on to my house! Covering bike when hauling it on a trailer question.
AABBCC replied to Albertastar's topic in Watering Hole
I ride in all elements! Does your trailer offer any protection like this one? I'd worry more about road hazards than elements. -
Congrats on the trike! How much room is inside that trunk? Looks like room for weeks! Also, does this have a reverse gear?

Love that color. Just Beautiful. Enjoy!

"We don’t allow PayPal members to buy or sell any kind of firearm, whether it’s in working order or not. The same goes for certain firearm parts and ammunition." I'm ok with this notion and am not surprised such a boycott failed to catch on, as it has no merit. I call bull**** on "Major Problems" because there are so many other ways to pay like C.O.D. The military industrial complex is not short on suppliers of firearms, parts, supplies, ammo, etc, that accept cash/check/cc/net30/COD. With that said, I don't agree with chick-fil-a being closed on Sunday but that's their business and it won't stop me from going there other days.

Finding/defining/debating the difference between Torque and Horsepower..
AABBCC replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
It's cool. It's only money. Perhaps they can buy more than one type of motorcycle. If they can only buy one type, they could shop around and/or seek out advice. Perhaps a sport touring bike like the FJR1300 could satisfy. No matter, it's on them, they have to live with it. -

Finding/defining/debating the difference between Torque and Horsepower..
AABBCC replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Engineers design and tune the final drive and transmission gearing around the engine torque, horsepower, rpm, overall gross weight, tire size etc, to deliver said power across a power band that's based on the motorcycles intended use. Torque and Horsepower are just part of the numbers in such a "debate" and mean nothing on their own. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepower https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torque -
The drone from the Monster Ovals made it sound worse.

Turn up the volume.... of the speakers sure! The pipes? Maybe try a different sound rather than louder pipes? Loud pipes don't do anything other than annoy the riders BEHIND you.

For $1700 I would not expect a turn key bike, I'd expect it would need reconditioning. Go into it as a running project bike knowing you'll need to change the fluids, sync the carbs, lube all the parts, replace the tires/brakes/shock/clutch/fork oil, and adjust the valves.

I love these mini reviews,, short, sweet and directly to the point..
AABBCC replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
If you shop by MSRP, sure it's a few hundred more than similar classed bikes but if you shop around, you can get one for less than $22k. Or perhaps you're just saying this class of bike is out of your price range new, and that's the case for me, which is why I bought a 2nd gen. Later down the road, I'll pick up a 3rd gen used for a fraction of the price new. 2018 Electra Glide MSRP $24,249 2018 Goldwing with optional trunk MSRP $24,574 2018 Venture MSRP $24,999 -

No matter, I'd still love to collect one of each generation venture including the 3rd gen. -
Wow, at least 10 years old, maybe older? You were just asking for it. Better change that front tire too or RIP.
-
If it's only 3 years old it was probably a road hazard.
-
hahaha from that title I was expecting a 24 year old Royal Star Venture...

I'm going through the process of buying a Venture from Rumbleon.com right now. I'm set that my next bike is be a Venture, but there are not many to choose from locally. I even considered flying into another state and riding home. While shopping around of course I stumbled into Rumbleon.com with only 3 available for sale. 1 had too many miles for me. Another was pending sale. The last one was a 2010 Venture 10k miles for $7,200. Fantastic! Then I lucked out; the other Venture became available! It was a deal I just couldn't pass up. A 1999 Venture w/20k miles for $2,988, shipped, no dealer fee, 90 day warranty, 3 day money back guarantee w/$500 restock fee. https://www.rumbleon.com/Buy/Details?Vin=JYAVP04E7XA001752 Shortly after paying $250 online to hold the bike, I received a call explaining they don't have the bike ready yet. It's on it's way to their Nevada hub for documentation. From there I'll receive full disclosure (and the option to cancel w/o any fees) of anything they find wrong before they ship it. I assume it goes to their east coat hub before making it's way to me. The time it takes for consumers to receive the bike may be their biggest obstacle to overcome.

I cancelled my debit card 18 years ago and only use a major cc due to the threat of skimmers. Restaurant and bar staff have been using skimmers long before placing skimmers on gas pumps became popular.
