Star glide project
yamahamer replied to yamahamer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The saga continues. I got all my wireing redone and got her back together last night and went for a short ride......I love it! I was able to take the 12 foot wire for the antanna and make a loop inside the faring. So radio works with no antanna. http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/THE%20BLACK%20BEAST/9-12-09023.jpg http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/THE%20BLACK%20BEAST/9-12-09024.jpg http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/THE%20BLACK%20BEAST/9-12-09025.jpg http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/THE%20BLACK%20BEAST/9-12-09026.jpg -

Bub Complete Exhaust Question
yamahamer replied to TonyLudwick's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Put the system on and find a good dyno guy to test your exhaust! It may feel like it's fine but it will more than likely be lean. A good dyno shop will be able to tell you what you need if anything and most will do the work for you if you need. -

We had a great time! it was good to see everyone again. We left Rome and rode back roads to Pellham to a place called Garage Company Costums for there first bike night. They build some crazy bikes. http://s525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/VR%20and%20GC/ http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/VR%20and%20GC/9-12-09019.jpg

yamahamer replied to got2mnytoys's topic in Watering Hole
We hade a GREAT time! Lots of new and old faces. Forgot my camera today so I'll post some pics later. Thanks ECK and BLACKJACK! AWESOME! -
When you talk about Rotella oil are you talking about car oil or a motorcycle blend? I just got a DRZ400S and someone said put Rotella in it. As for my Venture it has had 32k miles on Castrol HD 40 with no problems.

After 1000 miles of trying different PSI and getting use to the tire I am still torn. First of I will say this is not for everyone by any means. If you are a casual rider, long trips, or just a comuter then you may want to concider the dark side. However if you are an agresive rider that loves the sound of the floor boards on the road at 70+mph it may not be for you. I have found my sweet spot as far as PSI in the tire but it is 5lbs over the max sidewall rating. I am a very agresive rider so the presure others run didn’t work for me. PRO’S Great stoping traction, great wet road traction, great interstate ride, and you can do burn outs all day and not hurt the tire. CON’S Bouncy ride almost like a bad shock or low tire, when agresive in a turn I get a drifting feeling and you have to counter steer a lot sooner. I will continue to run the C/T for now just to see how much abuse it can take. This is only my opinion and anyone wanting or thinking of trying this all I can say is take your time it’s a diferent ride and if it works for you it will save you money. If it doesn’t work for you then it was an experience and it only set you back about $60 bucks. Mark

Shinko Tires
yamahamer replied to Dmnordin's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I hear they are hard to balance. -
I have looked at the pics of yours and it looks more firm than mine. With mine on the kick stand it has a side buldge to it. I wonder if I have a bad tire? The grip is great I'm just having to counterstear alot in the turns.
-
Thats a Beautiful bike! I have room in the garage just not enough money in the bank. Sorry you have to let it go and wish I could take it off your hands. Good Luck.

Does the BFG feel like it's driffting in a agresive turn? Like the side wall is rolling over. This is the only thing that bothers me about the darkside. I ride with alot of sport bikes and with the Avons I could keep up now I'm having trust isues with the tire.
-
I kinda wish I would have gone with the BFG they have a stiffer side wall but 150/80/15 is as close as they come and I don't want to lower the rear not even a 1/2 inch.
-
Don't worry about the front tire. I'm running the small Avon and not having any problems with it. If you are not an agressive rider in the turns you will love the Kumho. I only have 650 miles on mine so far and 50 of it was in a down pour and the tire is GREAT in the rain. Just take your time like it was a new bike and you will be hooked.
-
I'm not getting any wiggles, shakes, or groove tracking. I like the way it rides it just feels like the rear is slideing out from under me when I ride agresive in the turns.
-
Has anyone run the Kumho higher than 44psi? I like the tire until I get into a turn hard then I feel like I'm driffting on a dirt bike. Just wondering if more air will stiffen the side wall up or is this just part of the darkside you have to live with?

Run an add in the paper and find a truck driver out of work that has his own truck and trailer. You will be suprised what you can fit in a 50ft box trailer.

Not much change so far but I only got in a short ride last night. So far so good. It took me 4 trys to seat it I hade to work up the nerve to hit 127 psi but it's on. before http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/Picture001.jpg after http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/Picture003.jpg in the works http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/Picture002.jpg
