Put the left on the right and the right on the left and see if the sound changes sides . this will tell if one is over oiled or if you have another problem.

Check your ground behind your horn? -
Remember the 07's had the head bolts not torked to spec. if you get an 07 ask if it has been fixed if not look for leaks.

Possible horsepower gains

1. Aftermarket slip ons. 2. K&N or other less restrictive air filter. . I had one done after adding BUBS and K&Ns but it was an inertia test and was done in 5th gear "OD" it showed 74.9hp in 5.04 seconds and 82.49ft*lb in 1.92 seconds but like I said this was an inertia test not a real dyno. This is not bad when you think about it's in OD from 1341 rpm to rev limiter in 5.04 seconds. I do want to put it on a true dyno one day just to see. The 98 hp YAMAHA says you have is at the crank not the rear wheel. "Seat of the pants" AWESOME! -
got my jack/lift from harbor freight I had to play with it to get it balanced but it gets the bike up enough to get it out. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=2792

Do some calling around my dealer wouldn't do mine either but I found a small shop to do them for $20.00 a wheel and balance them too.

If your not getting at least 40 mpg something is wrong. I ride hard in the throttle and get 45 to 50 mpg....I do have BUBS and K&Ns and use sea foam once a year. You may want to try some before you get them to try and figure it out. StarRyder was having the same problems and sea foam got him another 10 mpg after one shot.

THIS IS A GREAT PLACE I HAVE ONLY BEN A MEMBER SINCE SEPT.2007 AND I KNOW MORE ABOUT MY BIKE THAN MY DEALER. I PESONALLY AM HOOKED I LOG IN EVERY TIME I SEE A COMPUTER I HAVE ONLY BEEN TO ONE MEET AND EAT AND CAN'T WAIT FOR ANOTHER. IT'S NICE TO HAVE OVER 4000 FRIENDS WITH SOMETHING IN COMMON.
