1. Have you tried any of the voice command functions with the wireless?
2. I’d highly recommend if you own an SV OR SVTC that you invest in the service manual. The same one the dealerships use. It can be purchased at https://yamahapubs.com/
3. I’ll let you know specifics as soon as I have it in hand. I’ll find out shortly the connection type which is probably most likely RCA Jack. A USB would probably not deal well with the environment & vibration. I’ll post more specifics as I go through the process.
4. I’d have to find a way to restore keep the heat function. Gets cold in some areas I ride including NC.
5. I forgot to ask, the Yamaha stock & high rise backrests are heated. Were you able to maintain that functionality in your new configuration, or did you just abandon having that?
6. Would be interested to know how you did it.
7. Probably another reason why they don’t want to give me any information about hookup fittings used. This little camera is HD & IR for night vision one of the best bang for your buck with great reviews and easy install. It mounts right across the top of your license plate AND it’s LESS than $25. The mounting blends in and is very “stealthy” looking. https://www.amazon.com/Generation-Reversing-149%C2%B0Perfect-Waterproof-Universal/dp/B074KZSVD6
8. I like the higher backrest. I got the taller Yamaha one. It’s better than stock but still needs to be taller. I had my re-upholstered and had them add padding and deepen the tufting for a better scoop.
9. Ok, did you order as a complete setup or did you have to order separate ie.. Clamp, longhorn, footpad?
10. Thanks Dog! Looks great. Those are exactly what I wanted too. It’s on my list. Do you mind if I ask how much for the setup?
11. I’ve checked that the taller wider Shield on a SVTC still is raises and lowers fine. I don’t think the vent would work though due to clearance issues. I could mount it higher but don’t want obstructed view.
12. Maybe I should ride down there? I’m just north of Charlotte. You gonna be there today?
13. While you have stuff pulled apart, check the condition of your plugs. It’s not uncommon for corrosion to develop on them especially on older bikes. Do yourself a favor after cleaning them and put some dielectric grease in them. It keeps water out and prevents further corrosion. Also, I noticed your fuse board has a lot of dirt. Clean that up as well. Dirt build up can also create a “sneak circuit” with a low draw. The fact you stated that the issue disappeared when you pulled the front off leads more to a possible plug issue. If it were a wire, you’d have a straight up short & popped fuse as someone already mentioned. Just an FYI, all the connector plugs have dielectric grease put in at assembly. Years of heat, washing & rain slowly remove it and then pin corrosion starts.
14. I agree with you 100%! Style, amenities, comfort, performance... what a dream! Got 5k miles on my baby!
15. I had the taller wider windshield in my 91 Venture Royale and installed the vent your considering. Was an excellent move. Still had the overall protection I wanted and air flow when I wanted it. You’ll like the results! P.S. Am considering the taller wider Shield for my SVTC.
16. They are aware of the issue but not sure if it’s part of the next software update. As an engineer myself, I kinda chewed on them at what I perceive as poorly thought out rollout. When I’m asking questions and wanting to do stuff such as the backup camera and they tell me I’m running TWO steps ahead of their engineering department, It’s not good. There is not a single function or nuance of operation that should not have been figured out in detail PRIOR to release IMHO. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my SVTC, but I don’t handle perceived stupidity when it’s really just common sense. I try to be nice when calling Yam cuz I don’t want them to get tired of me calling. Maybe they should bring me in as an outside engineering contractor?! Just kidding! As soon as I hear any further developments, I’ll be sure and post it.
17. That’s is a drawback with the current alarm configuration.
18. Welcome to the LIGHT! Congrats on breaking your cookie cutter mold!
19. I TRIED to warn you dude! Too late, the damage is done. By the time Joe gets his bike even though it’s REAL SOON, he’s gonna be a basket case! UPDATE: Just an FYI, I guess I’m sticking around. I just paid my membership!
20. Good point Dawson. Many forget about protecting the cylinders too.
21. “Running it dry” doesn’t take care of what’s in the float bowl. That’s where stuff gets jacked up. Run it dry or drain it is fine but don’t forget to drain the float bowl.
22. What are ya trying to do Lenny?! Give him a mental breakdown too?
23. In a way, I kinda regret that the SVTC has an alarm system already installed. I would’ve preferred a VIPER alarm system that puts a protective umbrella around the bike. If you get too close (can set sensitivity) it vocally warns you “Please stand back!”
24. Hey Spencer, I started a thread in TECH TALK dealing with SOFTWARE, NAV SYSTEM, BACKUP CAMERA & INFOTAINMENT
25. Not from what I've discovered in any of the Infotainment system parameters. What are you looking for? a strangely sounding space computer voice that greets you when you power up? "GOOD MORNING DAVE." You try to get it to do something and it freakishly says "I'M SORRY DAVE, I CAN"T DO THAT."
