  1. Dont you think the designers were aware of that possibility? They KNEW the bike had no Center stand, they KNEW the oil dip stick was on the side the bike leaned to. If it was possible to get an accurate reading in that position, WHY does the service manual (SAME instructions the dealers use) say the reading MUST be taken in an UPRIGHT LEVEL position? For my part, I will defer that POSSIBLY they know something I don’t and will do it the way it is prescribed. If ANYBODY is doing their OWN maintenance as I AM, I will not risk rejection of the Warrantee coverage because I did not follow strict instructions for something as important as lubricant levels.
  2. Of that I have NO DOUBT Sir! NONE whatsoever!
  3. Does it really NEED a tag? Isn’t that kinda self evident? I feel bad for his wife. For the next few days Joe is gonna be fit to be tied!! Any any EVERY conversation is going to revolve around THE BIKE! THE BIKE!! Lol!
  4. AHA!! I KNEW you wanted to PET IT!! I KNOW you dude! its been a long wait for you, but I GUARANTEE that once you throw a leg, start her up and hear that sweet rumble, roll on the throttle and take off down the road all the wait will disappear in your rear view mirrors!! Ill be listening for the SONIC BOOM! Lol!
  5. Give me a shout when you are gonna get to North Carolina. I’d like the opportunity to meet up with you!
  6. Can you tell me WHY it’s still gonna be 2 weeks before you can ride her?? My dealership had mine assembled, prepped & tested ready for delivery in 48hrs! Whats up with that? I bet they had to shoo you away to keep you from petting her!
  7. Go read my thread on software updates & backup camera. The unit has the CAPABILITY for a backup camera but does NOT have one installed. I contacted Yamaha to get info and they said I was “running two steps ahead of their engineers”. They wouldn’t tell me what kind of connection is used for it (probably RCA jack). Anyways, I cover this subject in that thread.
  8. Great write up Joe. Good examples of “real tests” under different riding conditions. I did note however that you made ONE fatal flaw. In your final assessment you referred to “future tense” use of your Kawi 750. You might as well accept now with grace that once you receive your SVTC, the Kawi 750 will be relegated to nothing but a “garage dust bunny”! LOL! SOON Joe, VERY SOON NOW!
  9. My lift is from Harbor Freight but designed the same as yours. What I came up with to help stabilize the front is this: First: Have a full tank of gas, that helps with the front weight. Secondly: I hooked on TWO of those black rubber tie downs from the front cross support down to the lift. As the lift goes up, the straps tighten. It’s more stable, but I still attach a ratchet strap for extra security once I get it up.

  11. Thanka for the update. I’ve got .05 on mine and haven’t had any issues. That’s weird. Looking forward to the next software update.
  12. Awesome! I’m enjoying the heck outta mine. Got 5400 miles on her already!
  13. I agree! The bike is also being WELL RECEIVED by Harley riders everywhere I’ve gone. Like I said before, some HD riders were checking out my SVTC and when I was done telling them the functions and price + the 5 year unlimited malieage Warrantee, one of the guys said “If this is what Yamaha is doing, SCREW Harley!”
  14. Arent you glad you complained to right people?!! Looking forward to seeing you sitting on your dream bike Joe! Excited for you!!
  15. Same here as far as customer service. I got mine at Team Charlottte Mororsports in Charlotte, NC. They’re not the biggest dealership, but they had the best service ratings in the area. VERSION 12.0.06 had some bugs so they pulled it from Yamaha download. Kinda glad I got 12.0.05. Haven’t had any “buggy” issues.
  16. Mine was a very nice one attached to the key fob. It also has a spare emergency key as well as the key order number tag all on the key ring. I had found a copy of the owners manual online MONTHS before I got my bike and had read up on it. Like you, I knew more about how the functions worked than the dealership did! A plus for me, but also helped me to recognize when/if something wasn’t right.
  17. Forgot to mention, your SVTC should have come with a 16GB USB stick. Mine did. I’m seeing a consistency here in that the VAST MAJORITY of people having issues with the SVTC are CANADIAN residents. Nothing wrong with you guys, but your dealerships in a word “suck”.
  18. I think you’re in the right track with that approach. The fact it’s disappeared with the skin off IMHO leads to plug connector either in the harness OR something that was plugged in but removed so you could pull the skin off. Dont forget to clean off your fuse board too.
  19. Two things here Bussman. Firstly, your dealership should have already done the GPS activation PRIOR to delivering the bike. Mine did. Secondly, I’ve been addressing the camera issue on another thread in Tech Talk. You can find updated info on it there.
  20. I’ve got over 5k on mine so far and there’s no real discernible wear. Then again, I’m not crazy enough like you to take a touring bike OFF ROADING.
  21. Sounds like a good idea! I’m haven’t had any problems with GPS. I don’t like that you can’t save any item by name, only the address. Hopefully they’ll address that soon as well. They are also aware that you can CURRENTLY only save 5 way points when planning a trip. That’s pretty anemic considering it’s a TOURING machine. Like I said, Yamaha is aware & working on that as well.
  22. While wireless sounds nice, to me I don’t want to have to worry about batteries. Have done many trips in the saddle for 10+ hrs a day for a week. I don’t think those will hold up to that kind of use, although the SVTC has PLENTY of storage for batteries.
  23. Unfortunately there’s no download available on Yamaha to the public. The dealership DOES have access. You should be running VERSION R12.0.5 That update came out in Mid January and I’ve had no issues with my Nav system.
  24. What software version do you have on your bike??
