  1. I just got that same email a little while ago. My bike came with an 8mb stick already formatted.
  2. Well, today my Navy buddy and I racked up 380 miles rolling Through the Pocono Mountains. Awesome ride!
  3. Sounds like you have the regular Owners Manual. The Yamaha Service Manual is not and was not available excep by ordering and they ship you the complete manual including all the prints. The Actual Service Manual is about 2” thick. That’s WAY more than any mb. You’d be talking Giga Bytes.
  4. I got s/n 694. We were probably same batch!
  5. I hear ya! I smoked him in the straights AND he couldn’t keep up in the corners either. WHY do people buy Harley’s??
  6. Racked up 530 miles getting up here into Pennsylvania to see my old Navy buddy. It’s a “Chief” thing! Went riding in Amish country and stopped to take a pic in a Federal Wildlife Reserve. Today is ALL DAY in the saddle as we head up to ride in the Pocono Mountains near the ski resorts. I’ll send pics later. BTW, he’s a Harley rider that I let ride my SVTC, now HE WANTS ONE! Figure that eh?! LOL!
  7. Thanks Zoey, I know the pegs will work great but do you have the lower wings on your SVTC also? If so, do the lower lower wings create a clearance issue for you legs when using the pegs?
  8. I di t understand why people are having such an issue. When I picked up my SVTC the dealerships o had already activated EVERYTHING AND I got an 8mb stick that was attached to the spare emergency key and the key code tag. I didn’t have to do anything in regards to activation. Customer service is EVERYTHING!
  9. Let me know what happens IF you try to put highway pegs on. Again, my concern is my legs hitting the lower wings while trying to use the highway pegs.
  10. 8.5 hours in the SVTC saddle from North Carolina up to visit a dear friend so we could spend a few days riding together! First BIG trip on her. Awesome!
  11. I didn’t get the lower wings because to me, it looks like they may get in the way of highway pegs.
  12. I had that happen on my 91 Royale. In my case it WAS a cracked solder connection and YES I was only able to find it using a magnifying glass.
  13. Castrol is good stuff. Will probably have to use that due to Mobile lack of JASO MA rating since Yamaha specifically mentions that rating. I want to run a full synthetic since they are less susceptible to heat breakdown than petroleum types.
  14. I amended my earlier statement after I saw it say “like and kind”. My bad. That means I’m switching up to Mobil 1 Synthetic in my next oil change.
  15. Since we’re now above 55 degrees for all temps day & night, I keep mine open all the time. No need to close unless it gets cool and you want the extra warmth.
  16. Im just quoting them. It’s not my view.
  17. Mind if I “chime in” here? First, the bike was DESIGNED to run in PREMIUM ONLY. Any lesser grade WILL give you issues. Second, while I know there are some superior lubricants out there, the Yamaha WARRANTEE states that “ONLY Genuine Yamaha Products MUST be used.” If you want to go synthetic (as I do) you’ll have to use Yamaha’s Synthetic. Failure to use ORIGINAL YAMAHA SPECIFIED products is cause for loss of Warrantee coverage!! JJust RE-READ the Warrantee. After it specified “YAMAHA ORIGINAL PARTS”, it said “LIKE & KIND”. I must’ve missed that. So, that being said; as long as it meets or exceeds Yamaha’s specifications we’re GOOD TO GO! Of course that means the next oil change I AM SWITCHING to MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC! THANK YOU Freebird for causing me to revisit what I thought I’d read.
  18. ABSOLUTELY! Which is WHY I posted it here on the forum when it first happened. It’s brand new and don’t forget there was a “manufacturing delay” which caused late release so anything is possible. Yes, it may seem as if we’re “Beta Testing” their product, but to me this baby is worth it AS LONG AS they stand behind their product. So far they have without any fight.
  19. Good question, no idea. Let me know if you find out. Those brake bleed kits are awesome! Makes the whole thing a lot easier for sure.
  20. YES! Mine is 694. My issues were along both side of the gas tank and looked like it was “wear spots”, but I don’t wear leathers or anything harsh to have caused it. It showed up at around 2800 miles on it. MAKE SURE you bring this to your dealers attention!! I took it to a PROFESSIONAL paint shop to look at it & they WROTE IT UP as a “paint defect” and what it would cost to repair. I submitted that to the dealership and 10 days ago Yamaha had them put a NEW tank on for me. Just make sure EVERYTHING is documented!
  21. Going on a short trip to Pennsylvania on Wednesday to see a long time friend for a few days. He lives near Amish country and it’s real pretty riding. We served together in the Navy. He hasn’t seen “Big Red” in person, only pics. He has an HD Ultra Glide and keeps talking about getting a Goldwing but he hasn’t been able to test ride the Venture he could only look at it. I think I’m gonna screw up his plans and let him ride the SVTC for a bit. That outta shut him up!
  22. Glad you like it Greg. It’s a lot more complicated with the SVTC than a normal bike. That’s because almost all the systems are “monitored” by the computer which means there is trace voltage (5vdc) always present. Secondly the alarm controls the neutral side of the function. For example. The alarm Siren has 12vdc present at all times, but the sealed alarm unit is controlling allowing it to neutral. Im gonna post procedures shortly about HOW to do it and what is needed (2 Solid State Relays).
  23. Joe, I’m not worried about you being late but have they “ok’d your “accommodations” for this evening and your INEVITABLE sleeping bag in front of their door? ROFLMBO!! Im truly exited for you! I’ll also make sure to offer up prayers of Thanksgiving on behalf of your wife as she FINALLY gets some peace once again!
  24. I stay “Touring Mode” 99% of the time. Most of the time I’ve used it for short on ramps or passing.
