  1. Thanks for all that, sir. I have tried using a 4 GB stick, a 32 GB stick...have formatted them with FAT32 and default allocation, have tried exFAT32 with default allocation. The FAT32 32 was accepted by the SVTC software and the Finger Print downloaded. The problem is now with their Yamaha Toolbox (latest version). It will not 'see' the loaded in 32GB USB stick with the Finger Print. My system loads it up and sees it just fine. I can open a window to the stick...view each file, each folder, but when I run their Toolbox...after about 20 seconds of please wait or whatever...at the bottom notification it says NO DEVICE DETECTED. I am going to go out and buy a 16 GB stick...and try again. I have been in contact with Yamaha...and they fully acknowledge that other owners are having the exact same problems with their software and their USB sticks. They are sending me a countermeasure USB stick to get me up and running, but the problem then is...if I can not get a successful launch of their Toolbox (it runs...but does not find the stick...) then I can not create my own account and be able on my system, to update my system any further. The owner MUST be able to create an account on his or his own computer, and successfully log into the Navigation Supplier's site with your own 'authorized' USB stick that was authorized by the Nav Key serial number that came with your documentation. So...that's the rub...for those that had their dealer get their nav up and running, they can not update themselves, but must rely always on a visit to the dealer...for the product key, is a ONE TIME use...only on that bike...and that computer as I read this...
  2. Puc, I was being light about it, lol....for I like my Martini shaken...not stirred, lol! You don't need to cut and paste anything...lol. Joe
  3. Right! Puc...this is so frustrating...why oh why would not Yamaha have a working Navigation System on their bikes, RIGHT FROM THE FACTORY....and not have to make the owner jump through hoops. My 2008 Wing...had a working Nav System, right on the showroom floor! This really sucks. I've tried ten ways to Sunday, to make the *^))##) Yamaha Toolbox software see my USB stick with my SVTC Finger Print. Reformatted, slow format, fast format FAT32, exFAT32...nothing will make that program 'see' the USB drive. Yamaha knows about it...and who knows how many SVTC owners they are going to p*ss off and alienate before they release a patched, WORKING Toolbox...that runs with W10. This is crazy...I want to go somewhere in one week...I have a $35,000.00 motorcycle with no installed Navigation System...and by means of their requirements, I can't even install it, with their P.O.S. current release software. Trust me, I'm no Forum 'shill' Yamaha secret operative. I am one very frustrated owner...that wants all advertised systems to be operational. Yamaha made this a PITA for the owner...plain and simple.
  4. Hi Puc, the Venture comes standard with a set of Wind Deflectors just below the mirrors. Take a look at my front side shot. The lower ones, are the ones that are listed in the Options Folder and ordered by myself and installed by my dealer. The ones above that, are installed as standard equipment. Thanks for the congrats. My wife absolutely LOVES the room and comfort of the new co-rider position. She said, ten times better than the 2008 Wing. Wow....you go, girl! Oh...combine that with the dual-zone, with private phone calls...practically has her swooning! As the knight in the Raider's movie said..."You...chose wisely...". Yes, I did....and I can live with the paint...there's lots I can yet do, to make all of that swirl go away. Almost 7 months...just glad to finally have our ride at home!
  5. Do you have a WORKING navigation system? No matter what I do...Yamaha's P.O.S. Toolbox software keeps coming up on W10...as Device Not Detected. I can open a window to my USB stick..and there are all the files that my SVTC put onto it, as a Device Fingerprint. So...their software should see it, but it doesn't. If yours is working...what did you do to get it to see your stick? BTW, what was the size of the storage on that stick...if it worked for you? 16 GB? 32 GB?
  6. Yamaha said that it is a bug in their Toolbox software. They are 'looking into it' I'm not the only one where their P.O.S. Toolbox can't find the USB stick with the fingerprint from your bike. W10 picked it up...so it would be available to a piece of software that was properly written....Go Yamaha!
  7. Thank's Doug...will do! Certainly will! Joe
  8. Thanks for that info...good to know! On my bike, though..it is actual production issues. They did a terrible job in the sanding to infinite of the paint layer, before applying clear coat. I'll work with it...but one shouldn't have to...
  9. I'm in contact with someone from Yamaha about this. My W10 finds the USB instantly and I can see all the files transferred from the SVTC. It is the latest version of the Yamaha Toobox that repeatedly states, No Device Detected. So...no Nav...no joy. I hope they release a fix for their software. BTW, for your successful reading of the USB with Toobox..what format protocol do you have on it? exFAT, FAT32, or NTSF? the SVTC didn't recognize exFAT...kept saying Check USB Memory. Love how all these systems play so nice together! NOT!
  10. Thank's Puc...had a blast on the ride home. BTW, I really believe that you and Tippy were entering the Highway and roll on...in Tour Mode. Trust me, there is a world of 'get 'er done' between relaxed mapped Tour and zippydeedodah Sport! A world of difference, Pawdner.! Now GiddeeUp and bring those steers in, 'fore supper!
  11. I'm 6' 3", and man, got to tell you...I have tons of forward and backward room to move my feet, and angle of my knees..etc. I will NEVER go back to the Goldwing peg...and that has your legs tucked slightly behind you. THIS...WOW...(first time ever experienced) is sitting in luxury, in the feet forward riding position! It's like I have my favorite fishing rod before me...bobbing in the water...in the fisherman's dance (one JERK, waiting on the other JERK, at the end of the line) and you are just...relaxing....enjoying....CRUISING....(gee, scratching head...NOW I know why they call these bikes; Cruisers. Oh, I'm such a genius~!) Paint quirks aside...I LOVE THIS BIKE! "I don't need no stinkin' highway pegs...!!!" You sure do, on a Goldwing! Joe
  12. Like I always typed, Puc...I'm honest in the good, the bad, or (hi Clint!) the ugly. LOVE the bike...rides like a dream, SOUNDS like a dream...having a blast. It's the paint, that I have documented. If you look at the pic...the paint doesn't look bad at all..and the defects only show up, when looking down upon the finish in some spots, not the entire bike's painted surface, but in direct and bright sunlight. I shouldn't need wax or sealant to make a bike 'look' like it just came out of the factory shipping crate...and sadly, it did...and I feel right now, that my 2008 Goldwing had a much, much better quality paint applied to the tupperware, than Yamaha has put out in 2018. I do know that others having bought Honda's 2018 Gold Wing's, are also reporting paint defects upon delivery. So...I don't know what is going on for 2018 with Japanese factory output. By hook or crook, my bike will be attended to...but too bad that I just can't say WOW WOW WOW on every detail. On the engine...WOW...on the Ride....WOW...on the fun factor...WOW, WOW...but thumb's down on the paint and finish. They dropped the ball at the factory on this one. Other's here are also reporting defects of one thing or another with the paint. Nobody is boo-hooing about the rest of the bike. Neither am I...even though a 'young' owner right now. The paint quality will be fixed...so that is only a minor annoyance. If it were mechanical, or the ride sucked...then that would be another matter. That..thank goodness, is no matter at all.... I intend to take some 360's...after I wash and wax, and get some nice weather to ride by a lake. The bike looks great, if not viewed top down, in open sunlight. This picture is certainly about what it looks like under any other condition, so not a shipwreck. I just expected much better factory finish and output...expecially on their flag ship. BTW, I highly recommend (I know they are expensive...) the lower mid-section of the cockpit wind deflectors/collectors. Puc..WOW..do they act like a 'Twin 60' air conditioner system. They bring in much more air...probably 80 % more than the higher stock deflector/collector. This would be my first add-on...expecially in how they will cool the riders and directly put forced airflow over the engine in motion.
  13. LOLOLOLOLOL! I needed that...having trouble with getting software downloads to her. Don't have Navigation as the Yamaha Toolbox software doesn't detect my USB drive...I have an older version or the Infotainment System...but I can't download the latest 12.0.5 What a PITA! I have paint swirl crop circles from too coarse a sanding grit from their factory paint shop...that I hope can get masked by my first coat of wax and sealer. My dealer knows about that...but you'd think that the most expensive bike they produce, would have better quality control on such things as paint and finish. Great bike riding...mechancially, but at least on my bike...a very poor paint quality issue. Frankly, I'm shocked. Yamaha The Great...apparently they aren't...or at least, any more. I'll work it out, one way or another...it only shows up in intense direct sunlight...but again that is before perhaps wax and sealer will 'fill' the whatever's...and they then become invisible even in direct sunlight.
  14. As soon as I get her washed...I can't even get their Yamaha Toolbox to detect my USB drive with the bike's downloaded FingerPrint. What a PITA! So...the rep said hang tight...others are having the same problem. So..no updated Infotainment System software. No ability to install and activate my Map Navigation. I have installed one of the first 11.xxx.xxx versions, and can't find 12.0.5 I hope my dealer can access it. I'll bring my USB drive to him...so I can get a copy to take back to the bike. Then...what I think is the worst paint job to be delivered to me, in the last 50 years...wow...and on their most expensive bike to boot. If this is the 'famous' Yamaha quality that some have forum'ed about...then I am worried.... I'm going to try and wash and apply a first coat of Mother's and then a sealer...and see where I am after that. Great bike, mechanically....visual paint job, (at least on mine) sucks.
  15. Right...in all you say. Honestly, I can't really believe this...and if you look at the other close up shots of YooperMoose, you will clearly see paint defects in his...wow Yamaha...not impressed with this! Carl, it's not that bad...in that it looks like someone vandalized the bike...and in my garage out of the sun, you don't see them...so I feel it is below the clear coat...and I think it is Yamaha Painting Department....they sanded down the spray, with tools...but did a very crude job...and too high a coarse grit. I know that I am not the only one....if you are in bright sunshine like we had yesterday around Toronto...and look down upon the top of the tour trunk, or the tops of the side bags...this is where you see 'scratches' crop circles... My dealer is aware of it...because on my Pre Trip inspection while taking delivery I saw this...and brought him over...and he clearly saw that. I made him note it on my comments while taking delivery. Right now...there is another problem actually....what a PITA, this has been! I just got off the phone with a Yamaha Rep...about the fact that my latest W10 updated system, that can read the USB drive that is hosting my Navigation Fingerprint (you need this to start the process of installing your Map Navigation Software), their YamahaTools software keeps saying that no device detected. He said that there were others calling with the same problem. He took my VIN, particulars..and said that he will get back to me, either by phone or email. So...that's problem #2 . So...will later go out and wash her down...and then try to gently rub the worst area and see if that takes it away. Other than that...the whole bike would have to be repainted. That is not something I would be looking forward to. This is my first Yamaha...and also, this is my first bike that ever had visual defects in the paint that came right out of the shipping crate. Don't score one for the gipper. Great bike...having a blast riding it....but this is bugging me. Take a look at my ten year old Goldwing, in that picture I uploaded showing it sitting in a Gettysburg parking lot. That bike did not have one blemish on it...with 10 years of sunlight...road grit, etc. BTW, what is it now with motorcycle manufactuers? I'm reading in Honda forums, that the new 2018 Goldwing ALSO has paint defect issues right out of the crates. The 'former' famous Japanese worker dedication to excellence seems to have gone the way of the Samurai....Japanese Melenials...are saying....to heck with that...we come to work...we work...we get paid...we start the next week. No more the 10,000 employees doing morning exercises...and singing the corporate quality 'song'. Thing of the past, perhaps?...
  16. Pics coming...but only after a good wash and wax...so you see her best side, lol! She wouldn't have it any other way.... Seriously though...I made a good choice for the both of us. My wife, almost passed out when I got it home....the first words from her....man, is that one HUGE bike...Hon...it looks larger than our Gold Wing. Well guess what? It is...I had to move some things around the garage, to get her in...where before that was the space for the Goldwing. She's longer and wider. I had to make some room along those planes, lol. Not a gargantuan amount...but still I couldn't just run her in.... Here's one just after I got home....and wanted to capture the lower wind deflectors. She is a beaut! The dealer did a great job installing all the rest of what I ordered. You can also see the metallic brake pedal, that I wanted over just the pole that comes standard.
  17. LOL...well, it was late in the day...I was tired...got her safely to bed...and this morning...she gets the 'Joe Treatment'...a good wash...and then 163 pounds of Mother's wax 'n' roll. Then..I'll post some pics...got to say, she looooooooks grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! As for the ride home....wow...this bike rocks. Smooth, powerful...and of course, I can't take her over 2,300 RPM....so was grateful that I could pop 65 coming home on the highway, but still be around 2,000, for she is a long stride in 6th!
  18. Got to bring the red girl home yesterday afternoon. What a hoot, running in 6th gear, at 65 MPH, and only turning 2000 or so. I could easily keep below the first break in no-no of higher than 2,300 RPM.
  19. I love mine as well...but the Yama Mama paint job could be much better...not too impressed with that...but everything else about the bike...yessir!
  20. I in fact did pick up my SVTC yesterday Puc...and I had the lower set of wind deflectors also installed. They work great...bring lots of air into the mid to lower section of the cockpit...and they really bathe the engine jugs in cooling air. The standards top ones, not so much, because they are so high. I recommend this second lower pair, to all owners.
  21. The paint should in no way be stressing if there is an adequate clear-coating over and sealing it. On my Goldwing...there never was any kind of paint 'wear' issues, whatsoever. I'm wondering how dense is the fairing castings. It seems to me, that Yamaha blended to minimum for costs to themselves, as well as a lighter body work. The problem with that...is that the surface of the faring, the saddle bags, the tank and tank top...is that the surface will heat or cool at different intervals, and that could weaken the paint bond..and cause popping. I noticed a lot of buffer and swirl marks in the Yamaha finish. I hope that I can buffer and polish them out...and I can't believe with all the hype I've read about how good is Yamaha's Standard of Quality manufacture...that such a crucial element as the paint and finish of their top of the food chain...could start to be having issues. I am curious...has anybody else taken delivery of their red metallic, and had lots of swirls and buffer patterns marks, that might even look like scratches in the clear coat, from years of wear? Really stands out in the bright sunshine. I hope today that I can start to figure out how to address this. This is the only thing so far that has been a real disappointment. I truly had expected better from Yamaha, as regards fit and finish. The round buffer marks look almost like crop circles in the paint, and it is below the clear coat.
  22. On my ride back home yesterday afternoon, with my SVTC...and having the lower wind deflectors installed as one of my options....they work real magic, and bring in a ton of air, or...deflect away from you...tried both scenarios. We'll really enjoy what they can do, for either cool, or warm weather riding. I highly recommend adding them to your ride.
  23. I really noticed a difference with these installed on my SVTC (as shown), and in comparison to the single stock ones, that were on my dealer's personal SVTC. A lot of air gets deflected into the cockpit, at just the right vector height...that being directly upon the engine and your hips, down to your toes. I highly recommend installing them. Adding this second set further down, will greatly increase your ability to direct in, or deflect air away from the cockpit.
  24. I picked up my SVTC today...and had a great first ride bringing her home. I have to activate the Nav, tomorrow...but man...what a sweet bike! Now...more riding, than typing, lol! Cheer's all!
  25. Funny in the way you worded that about the Honda...the same for us, if it had not been for what Honda punched out for 2018...I wouldn't be picking up a SVTC on Tuesday. In hindsight, especially after being able to ride one before I take delivery of ours...I absolutely agree with you. This bike...the ride, the features, the whole thing folded in, makes my 2008 Gold Wing...seem like an archaic ride, way past its due date. Count me in as truly satisfied and happy to take delivery of, tomorrow...truly!
