Can never spend too much on your a$$.
YamahaParExcellence replied to ChiefGunner's topic in Watering Hole
Thank's Puc...it could be anything from a 'fooled you!' hand-written note, a base-ball cap, T-shirt...or hopefully, what Chief thinks...is that $1,000.00 credit to Yamma Mamma goodies...now THAT would be a salve to the wait-wound...lol. I'll let y'all know. -

FINALLY! Aftermarket parts for 2018 SVTC
YamahaParExcellence replied to ChiefGunner's topic in Watering Hole
That was my worry. I remember all the folks that put bibs on their front end of their cars to stave off stone chips, etc...and then were aghast when one day when they took them off...the entire front cover of where the bib had contacted the paint, was literally sanded past the clear coat...like someone had spent all night, out there with 1000 sandpaper. I see the same thing happening here. You simply can not prevent any fine particulate (sand, grit, and micro-stones) from being driven under the bib...and then with movement and normal vibration...it just stays there and grinds away... For my cord...I'm simply going to have a whistle loop, and the cord will lift off sharply from the front attachment point and get supported from the cord clip. It won't ever touch the paint, as it swings and moves to the bike's movements. That is my cord solution. The bib looks great...anytime you put leather to a bike...but the bib itself...contacts the paint, over a wide surface...and the bottom is open to ingress, just the same as hood bibs on cars. That's why they are not as popular as they were in the late 70's throughout the 80's. The word got out... -

FINALLY! Aftermarket parts for 2018 SVTC
YamahaParExcellence replied to ChiefGunner's topic in Watering Hole
I was looking at that..but also was wondering...what about dust and wind driven road debris getting UNDER the Bib, and then it sand papers as the bike moves, caught between the tank and the under side of the bra. That was my stop button to order. Your take? -
Wow..two great looking bikes. That SVTC just looks like it rather be booking along an interstate....wow. Joe

I bought the saddle two days ago...while still singing the blues over my limbo with getting the SVTC.... I just found out yesterday, that I'm good to go for the SVTC. The saddle was going to be my cheer-up gift to myself. Now..it's morphed to a butt-comfort happening. I always wanted a Corbin...but never got around to buying one. The time was right! I'll probably have the SVTC by mid to late May now, as it is still on the ship heading towards Vancouver, BC. I can wait ...since having validation of my actually getting it.

That would be simply great, Chief! I didn't press him for exactly what they had on their minds for the four of us expectants. If that is what it is...wow...that would be great, and go a long way, towards pacifying me for the wait. We ordered about $3,000.00 in accessories, to be installed on the bike prior to delivery...so I wonder how that would work...perhaps I could take that letter into my dealer, and they could refund me (with calling Yam about it!?!?) that $1,000.00 Would help greatly. I decided for the first time ever, that I needed a heel shifter on a bike. For all our Wings, Chief, there was no way to put one on, and I can't tell you (seriously..and not funny) how many left shoes tops, just above the toes, I punched an abrasion hole in...and had to throw out both shoes. Add that up...and it is costly. I said to one guy on another forum...that actually (yes..they are charging a lot of money for the toe/heel shfter combo) this is the only true accessory that will pay for itself and not end up costing you one dime. I explained, that with a heel shifter (which I shall have to get use to on the first ride home...) there is no top shoe abrasion, at all. you press your shoe heel down on the lever...and that shifts you. What you are going to now save on expensive footwear...totally cancels out the cost of the upgrade. Guess what...he PM'me that he convinced his wife..and they bought the toe/heel shifter, themselves, lol. Yamaha should give me a commission or something..lol. Cheers,

Did you keep the ST1300 for your sport rides, Mimurph?

Be careful...wives might blame you for their husbands shucking out $27,000! You might have to enter the Witness Identity Relocation Program. Be ready to run...

I haven't seen a fairing style like that in a long time. Reminds me of an 83 Wing! Good luck in the entire restore. I'm sure it's going to look awesome, when finished!

Typo: that should be ; groan, lol ....for myself,...with waiting so long for my SVTC, I decided to buy my first ever custom saddle for my Kawasaki ZR-7S. The bike is metallic red and so, I put together from all the choices you can have..the following Gun Fighter and Lady saddle. I think the natural tan leather that I chose for the seating will look really, great contrasted against the red metallic. http://www.corbin.com/faq.shtml http://www.corbin.com/funstuff/media/corbin_ecc.htm For this bike: It's built for my weight, height, and inseam to the T. You can cycle between the three views from the top right icons at the rendering and build page. I didn't bother getting the back rest, even though the Corbin pan allows for it, as you can see in the pics. My wife has never climbed aboard CowFace..and never will. Frankly the bike scares her. Does your wife ride on Maggie? http://media.corbin.com/config/cds/#canyondualsport_2.pfs?width=3000&p.tn=Tan_Leather.png,Indian_Tan_Leather.png,Indian_Tan_Leather.png,Copper.png,Gold.png&p.c=,,,,&p.on=&wildCard=none&thePrice=473.00&thePart=K-ZR7S-GL This is also the bike that I ordered last week the Michelin Pilot Road 4 tires. Everybody is raving about the set, for wet road cornering and stopping power, for a Sport's Tour.

Thank you, sir! The weather around Toronto this week has been dreadful. In Toronto, a major ice storm ensued with power outages, 1,400 road accidents reported by the O.P.P. and the power outages extended into the Southwest as well. Then...50 mill's of rain...my sump pump hasn't seen wet for 5 years..but I thought I heard the motor this morning...and lo and behold, there was a full well of water being pumped out! Now...we are expecting snow this evening in some areas...and they are warning of a 'snow event' for the middle of next week. This is plain insane for this time of year. Then I read that ChiefGunner has 80 degrees outside his front door. Lucky bloke! C'mon..and move to Ontario, Canada...but bring your snow shoes....be safe at least to June...

Lifting the SVTC
YamahaParExcellence replied to DougS's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Yes, by stating that it has a T handle..that is the welded steel frame version. They had another one (I posted about it in the Watering Hole forum..and that you can get it until April 30 of this month with a Super Saver 20% coupon for $143.99. It's all aviation grade aluminum with a massive single hydraulic lift, much like the motorcycle full lift tables. I have a link and all that in the post, if you are curious. Another user with a PitBull first stated that the bike has an aft center of gravity. I suggested shims, but he said that didn't work out too well for him. Being that I don't have an SVTC yet to lift...will try it with the new lift I bought (Harbor Freight) and will post a review. The main reason that I got it wasn't to lift the bike clean off the ground so much, as to be able to make it go vertical, for proper oil change dip stick reading at the oil tank. Stuff like that. Of course now that I can lift both tires off the ground (this is my first lift ever...) I can see saving some money, by changing my own tires, now easy to do with both wheels off the ground. Up here, if your bring the entire bike in for a change, it is around $50.00 for a re and re/balance on the front, and $65.00, for a re and re/balance on the rear. That pretty much would let you pay for two or three tire irons, and easy to make a two-by-four frame for a brass rod that could have your tire placed on it to let the tire settle to the low spot for balancing. I might just try and have a go for one time and see how long it takes, what the hassle at home is...and compare all that to just riding to the dealership..and wham/bam, your new tires on on in 45 minutes. Out the door... I have that option, anyway with owning the lift. Choices are good. -
It seems to be right...a lot of Ontario dealers also got that mix...two SVTC's and one Eluder. Once they sold them...(and they did not know this on the fly...) and tried to reorder...they were stunned (I called around 10 of them...all the same story) to find out that so early in the 2018 riding season...heck, the season hadn't even STARTED yet...people were still getting out of bed...there were no more coming to the dealer. The dealer I bought from, had one very early purchase Grey sold, and I got to see that one..so was thinking WTH...with what's going on with mine? Why don't they have mine? It all bears out I guess, in the 'rest of the story' scenario. Yamaha Canada (or the Main Corp out of Japan) didn't have stock to ship them. So here is this one dealer...in north Toronto, when I called, that said he sold his red and grey SVTC, has no more coming into stock, (you could hear his anger...Yamaha is really pi**ing off their dealers up here) and said that I have an Eluder, should you wish to come and see it. I said that sorry, but I'm in the market for an SVTC. His comment? Revealing...."You and everybody else, calling!". Imagine being a dealer IN MARCH/APRIL and getting phone in's...and you don't have anything even to show them let alone order for. I'd be going nuts...and looking for another line of business to invest in.... I've never seen this before, Divey. You might in November, when the new ones are coming in...and wanting to capitalize on the prior/current year end savings....but in April, on the current model year? Jeez... Production wise, somebody dropped the ball....

You know, Puc...when I kept hearing about the heat...the heat...from one YouTube blogger, on his free road demo run, Two Wheeled Obsession, or something like that...anyway... in my mind, I couldn't help it...evil laugh------->....I only could hear..."Boss...da plane...da plane..." Heat...tells you, two things...first...the bike is running, second, that you are ALIVE to sense it. All good with this guy, Puc. All good! This bike is going to go through tires, like dough at a pizza joint....yep. Yamaha says Trans Continental, huh? Yep...yep....you betcha! I wonder what will happen as we roll around to 00000 once more. Does a door pop open on the SVTC, and you get a 100,000 point air mile card springing out?!? I'll let you know in due time....

Thanks Carl...and I am right aligned with you...(even if this guy is lurking here to see what I type, or if he suspects that I am visiting the neighborhood! I did NOT see that coming...nope, frankly I had written this whole shebang off...just too weird all of it. Oh...I called my dealership to advise, that the MAN said it was coming...and they said they were just off the phone with Mom Yam...and were going to advise me, shortly of the same... Yes..I totally agree with you...the old adage..."The squeaky door, gets the oil!" I was phoning almost weekly for 'updates'....probably driving them nuts... So...validation. Can't wait..and now I can let my enthusiasm creep out once more...this bike rocks...for everything I wanted in a tour bike...and new engine format...the power pulse of a v-twin that I have never owned, nor felt...the sound system...a C.B. once more...dang...just all of it....the only thing I need to do...is add a tour where there is my favorite commodity....OCEAN...lots....of...OCEAN. Check out any of our places we visit...there is snorkeling, swimming, boating, or just sittng by it, in all our destinations. The Atlantic, the Pacific, the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence Seaway...show me an ocean coastline...and I'll show you a tour with a built in smile...for sure! This year...coming to a Joe channel in High Resolution, lol! Here comes the red SVTC...there goes the red SVTC...bye..... trail of road dust disperses into the atmosphere........))) Sound's of Celeeeeeeeeeebration, C'mon...playing through the four speakers....two helmets rocking side to side....co-rider massaging rider's neck and shoulders...then a big hug.....bye....! Cheers,
-
DANG, that was SO freakin funny, Puc! That was exactly the music rattling around in my head as I was typing....what a dang HOOT! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Gawd...I'm playing your YouTube as I type this....tapping my feet back and forth....what a freakin' HOOT! LOLOLOLOLOLOL This is the first song that is gonna come out of the bike on the way home...I swear!!!!!!! LOLOLOLOL Puc rules! "...what's your pleasure...SVTC'in...that's gonna be my pleasure, Kool and the Gang!"....

Chief, did you get the same one I got, the 1500 lb cast aluminum one? or the steel bar frame one? Wondering...
