  1. Yes there is a sleeve inside the throttle grip, clutch side is glued on. Easiest way I have found is to give it a shot of compressed air(assuming you have a compressor) and slide it off. If you don't have the compressor then CAREFULLY work a flat blade screw driver under the edge, give it a shot of wd40 let that do its thing then continue with removal by twisting and pulling. Might have to do the wd40 thing a few times. Hope this is of some help.
  2. In Canada, when a fallen soldier is repatriated, the motorcade is escorted from CFB Trenton to Toronto along Hwy 401 by police service personnel. This section of road has been renamed "The Highway of Heroes" and at almost every bridge or overpass along the route and in some cases even along the highway, ordinary people, fire departments and local police etc, gather to pay their respects to the fallen soldier as he passes by, it is generally the only time we can say thank you for the sacrifice that they have made on behalf of their country. Luckilly we haven't seen the need for a PGR type group here but I am sure if the need arose there would be many of us that would gladly step up to the plate.
  3. That was one of the first things I did when I got my TD in 05. I found that I was getting cramping in my neck and shoulders and once I lowered the bars, neck apin went away. As stated in an earlier post, need to remove the speedo to make the adjustment.
  4. I just did this yesterday on my 05 TD. You need to get yourself a good bright light source and a long flat blade screw driver. What you are looking for is a small brass cone shape with a tiny vent hole( actually they are the only brass in the area) on the sides of the carb bowls. Look through the gap between the carbs from the right side of the bike to see the plugs on the left side carbs and vice a versa for the right side carbs. Once you spot them stick the screw driver between the plug and the carb body and gently twist, the plugs will pop out and you can then see the adjusting screw. From what I have read 3-31/2 turns is usually a good starting point for adjustments, mine were 2 on the #1 carb 2 1/2 on the # 2, 2 1/2 on #3 and almost 2 on the #4. After I had turned the screws all the way in, I put a small dot on the handle of the screw driver so it would be easier to keep track of the number of turns I had made when making the adjustment. Hope this is of some help to you.
  5. I used that one on my TD for poer to my radio, it only has power to it when the key is in the run or acc. position
  6. Congrats on the Td purchase, unfortuneately for you Yamaha stopped making all the reallly fast red and black ones in 05 . You have a great bike but there are some things that you might want to take a look at. I ditched the stock seat real quick, just too painful after about an hour in the saddle, corbins are supposed to be good, I personally have the Ultimate seat set and am able to do 8 + hour days without any pain. You might want to swap out the stock ignition module for a DK3,(set the revs to 7000 and curve 3 or 4 to get more grin factor going for you) Change to a set of Road King cans with the stage 2 or 3 mod for better sound, add a passing light bar and headlight modulator so folks see you coming and a brake light modulator so they don't creep up your but when your stopped. Don't forget there is all the "safety chrome" that can be added as well.
  7. Another option if you don't want to drill the bars is to pick up a 1" copper pipe coupler( plumbing section fo the local hardware store) split it in half(lengthwise) and then slip one piece between the bar and the clamp. The extra thickness of the copper should give you enough of a gap so that the clamp will tighten up on the bar, if you need more you can always insert the second half.
  8. I have a couple stickers, red dragon from Deals gap( first time) and a support our troops ribbon. Both on the rear fender.
  9. Just a heads up for you, a bit of construction at 7 & 115 junction in Peterborough and again in Norwood, shouldn't be an issue for you though. There is a Timmiies on the left as you are coming into Havelock and another 16 kms East of Marmora. Enjoy the trip, ride safe.
  10. Mike : Here's a link to one, don't have any specifically of the cap, but this one will let you see what it looks like on the tank. Cheers Waynehttp://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k168/brewser23/Batwing%20On%20a%20TD/DSCF0025.jpg
  11. If you google clamp on tachometers you will get severa; different suppliers of them. Here's a link to get you started. http://www.dmstools.com/products/esi/esi325.htm. If you do buy one, wouldyou be interested in buying one for me, I could paypal you the funds and the shipping cost. Most of the suppliers I have contacted only ship UPS to Canada and with what they charge for brokerage fees it just isn't worth it . Cheers Wayne
  12. No problem, I had to glue the outer ring and if your Venture is a 2nd gen it should fit ok. I have had it on my TD since June of 05 without any issues.
  13. I have the flush mount one made by Kuryakyn on my 05 TD. If you go to www.jpcycles.com and click on the gas tank section a sub heading with the caps and gauges comes up, a bunch of different styles there. Hope this helps.
  14. Ask and ye shall receive....here it is http://www.innovativebalancing.com/index.html, do a dealer search, couple in the Toronto area. Product seems to perform as advertised. Valve stem method is probably used due to the beads being very small. I would think that you would stand a good chance of losing a lot of them when you were seating the bead. Not that difficult to do and and engraving tool vibrating agains the valve stem helps to keep them moving, tube clogs up pretty quick without it.
  15. Found this on another site and thought some may enjoy it. This will Mess With Your Head. Three (3)3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30.00. SO EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM. A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25,SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH$5. ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER$2 FOR HIMSELF. THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF $ 27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29. Where is the other $1.00!!!!
  16. I stopped trying to get someone to change a tire for me , do it myself and keep my money in my pocket. I also use dyna beads to balance the tire. Here's a link to the website http://www.innovativebalancing.com/index.html. Product seems to do what it says it will and I like not having to spend the time trying to balance out the wheel.
  17. I have the 05 TD as well, removed the stock grips and replaced them with the ISO grips with the bullet ends and have not noticed any excessive vibration. My son bought me the internal grip heaters which I just finished installing, had to drill out the inserts to install but am happy to report that they do work pretty well.
  18. If it didn't loose any fluid laying on its side it wont hurt anything just charge it if it fails to charge throw an aspirin ( pure aspirin not tylonal or advil etc. I know I may be leaving myself open to a major leg pull here but I haven't heard of this before, what purpose does it serve?
  19. Have had an Ultimate seat on my TD for the last three years and can't see me switching it out. They don't make one for a Venture. Heres the web site addy if you want to check it out. www.ultimateseats.ca
  20. I have had an Ultimate seat on my 05 TD since Des got it back to me in April of 06 after using it to do the prototype for the new TD's. Best seat I never bought LOL, still verrry comfortable.

I personally haven't tried it BUT I wouldn't suggest that you use it on the shield. PPG makes the product and it chemically bonds with the glass. One MSDS sheet I found says it contains naptha and their application sheet states it contains petroleum distillates and also says to avoid painted surfaces when applying.
  22. Looking good, have to agree with you about the Venture fairing, just didn't do it for me. Good luck with your project.
  23. You are going to love that ride. Take your time and enjoy the scenery, the views are awesome. Have done it a couple of times and would highly recommend it. Now if you are going as far as Ashville, you have got to get over to Deals Gap and do the Tail of the Dragon.
  24. Just a heads up folks, spammers are at it again. Last night I received a notification from Paypa! ( no that's not a typo) saying that my acount may have been accessed by a third party and to update my information at the link provided for my "security". Needless to say I forwarded the email to Paypal. Thanks to someone posting this type of warning earlier in the year, I was aware of what was going around and didn't do something I would regret. Thought others might appreciate the heads up as much as I did. Cheers Wayne
  25. New Seats!!!! Stockers are brutal. I have the Ultimate seat set up and highly recommend them, headlight modulator, brake light modulator, swap out the brake light bulb with the custom dynamics led board, driving lights, saddle bag rails, billet chrome lowers, horn upgrade, fender rack(looks so cool when you go solo seat),chrome oil cap , custom reservoir covers that say Royal Star on the clutch cover and Tour Deluxe on the brake cover...............oh wait that's my bike LOL:rotf:
