don't give up on the Gazebo thing yet, I know where a couple are, just need to remember to go there on the next ride. First my Vulcan ears went, and now my Vulcan memory, what will I do now Spock?

First time I came to this thread I thought..."why 'you' in the picture", but then after looking at many of the pictures, it is fun to see how people work to get themselves in the pic if they are alone. Many, like me use the mirror, others use the chrome, reflection in a window etc. I think it adds a personal touch, plus we get to see what some of these people look like! A gazebo it is then.

Bob, you are too easy! I was going to ding him for not being in the picture! But if you want to let this slide, I guess I will go along with it. Next picture I send in though, you may have to accept just one finger of mine in the picture! Just kidding, Ragtop, is that the airport where they train all the terrorists? Kidding again....set the target!

Thanks for the info, got five cans today, pick up is just 1/2 mile away, but may take me 20 miles to get there!

Monty, So big deal, you got a hole in the water that you fill with money! I see it is even portable, very handy. I had a couple of those holes in the water years ago, traded mine for a bump in the road that you try to stomp down with money (Motorcycle) Seriously, very nice looking boat, have lots of fun!

Looks good to me!

Pick the one that "trips your trigger" but you haven't had a chance to ride. If you've always wanted to try an Ultra (or other HD) then do that. If the new Victory has you breathing heavy, the do that one. If you can't choose, try to pick between two and flip a coin! Enjoy, have fun, ride careful and let us know what you do and how you like it!

Karl, Nailed it. And the most rare event at that...Cyclone. Way to go.

A good portion of this is because of the internet and mainly You-Tube. One person posts wild vid of wheelies on public roads, or a long vid of wild driving in traffic at high speed, and EVERYONE thinks they are a pro. No police around much anymore, and it seems never when you need them. I know the vast majority are doing as much as they can or are allowed by their bosses, and state/county/city funds, but still, I wish for more of them instead of fewer these days.

OK, got knocked around a bit there. but I expected to take a little bit of a beat down for not getting out of my own driveway, but Bob....I was heading out to get the target and BAM! There it was at the top of my own driveway! Whoda thunk it! Oh, and I do appreciate the concern for my advanced age and ability (or lack thereof) to ride more than 200 yards! Gas went up almost 30 cents the last 48 hours in anticipation of Irene, so I had to conserve. Anyway, I appreciate the good natured ribbing!

RoyalG, you are generous to accept my submission, but I will set a target as you suggest! How about you, and your bike (and in honor of Irene currently raking the East Coast), anything with a graphic representation of a tornado, cyclone, hurricane, or any of those words in the sign/name. Extra points if you can see the rain going sideways around you, or things flying by in 100mph winds! (NO, of course just kidding, don't ride in winds higher than 95 to be safe!). Seriously, may all our friends in Irene's path be safe the next couple of days.

OK, here is what was once a one-room school house. It happens to sit on our property and was moved here by a previous owner. The close in picture shows the writing saying, "Cottonwood School dist. 21" in india ink on one end that we haven't ever painted over. The bulk of the building was the one room school house and the smaller end was added some time later for a coat room or something. There are hand hammered square nails and rough hewn timbers all through the building. I am in the chrome side piece of the one picture. I Know it isn't a current one-room school house, and if not acceptable, that is ok. But I present it anyway!

Rick, Best place to take a battery in our area(Peoria, IL area) is Interstate Battery on the N. side of Washington just of N. Main St. I think you know where it is, if not, give me a call, or look them up. They will test it, and they should have any battery in stock.

A swivel hitch is probably the safest way to go, but a regular hitch works just fine. I had a set-up pretty much just like you have, and used it on my 750 SuperSport many years ago. Never had a problem with it, even when I dropped the bike once. That was with a homemade hitch setup. Remember to put a little grease on the ball from time to time and clean the inside area of the part on the trailer and lube it at least once a year, more if you store the trailer outside and it could get dirty/leaves up inside there. Check the tires/bearings every time you get off the bike when towing, check for excess heat on the bearings (should be just warm to the touch at most, cool, on cool days!) and the tires, warm to a little hot on hot days, only slightly warm to cool on cool days. A tire or bearing too hot to touch for several seconds means there is a problem! Stop and check it out. Always keep about 10% of the total trailer and load weight on the ball. If trailer and load weigh 200 pounds, that means 20 on the ball at least. Will prevent excess sway.

I go to this site: http://www.earplugstore.com/ I use the ones for "motorsports" although, they are probably the same as for musicians. I don't like the foam ones because they cut down on high frequencies. The ones for music or motorsports let through the entire frequency range. I have used these for years: http://www.earplugstore.com/profmusearpl1.html those are a size large, for smaller ear canals, try these: http://www.earplugstore.com/er-20-blister.html

only problem with the sunblocker mentioned, is it has to go inside the face shield. Same thing as the window tint that I put on all my face shields near the top and bottom. Why on the bottom? B ecause I can flip the face shield up and the strip of tint on the bottom can be sued to block more of the sun while letting in air. Still no solution I know of like the OP wanted, a flip up aftermarket interior sun shield. I have a Shark Evoline, and it has the flip down sun shield, and I love this helmet. full face when I want, and open face when I want. There is another thing that might work has been around a while, called the Super Visor http://www.super-visor.com/test.htm Won't work on my Evo, but should on most other helmets. A visor is great because you just tilt your head down a little and you can block the sun right to the horizon, while still seeing the road. I have not found the perfect solution, but some sort of visor on my Evo would just about do it for me, but I don't know how you would do it with the flip up chin bar and maintain the ability to do it all on the fly! There is a patent waiting out there to make someone rich if they could solve this puzzle.

one thought on why the bead came loose, when you added the Ride-On did you get some on the bead? Could this have acted like a lubricant? Even at that though, I would think the bead would have to have been poorly seated to let it come off.

Bob, good one. Even with a longhorn on the logo. Steel slide huh? I was just in the area of an old-fashioned style park yesterday in Arthur, IL darn it! But I got some good old fashioned ice cream so I can't be too bummed out! won't get to ride till mid week next week, so good hunting till then everyone!

Good advice for all to follow, two or twenty.

I don't know about flyinfool, but I found the double file in tight turns as dangerous. Like another poster, we signal single file when in situations where turns are tight and sight lines poor or the road is just narrow. The link listed didn't give single file as an option. also, I am not sure about putting the least experienced at the very back. Many times we have put them at the front, this assumes that they are decent riders, but maybe not as adventurous. In our STAR group, we always ride to the level of the least among us. This way we don't leave anyone behind. By having the slower bikes up front, there won't be a big gap develop because the lead bike can keep a close eye on them. We also sometimes put the ricky racer types at the back, and they can hang back if they want and goose it sometimes. I am not crazy about this, but we have a couple people that we know well, and we would rather do this than have them run on ahead and maybe not notice if the group has to stop suddenly. This last (least up front) is something we have debated, but it works most of the time. If the least is REALLY a bad rider, then we try to pull over talk with the rider, and sometimes let an experienced rider that knows the route stay with this rider while the rest of the group goes on ahead. Sometimes, depending on how far we have gone, the slower rider may opt to go back home. Good animation, and some good advice, as always, I recommend people choose those things that work for them, and modify or add to their safety and riding rules as necessary! -
don't know.....those might be more properly called: "Ratty Rods"! Or Projects interruptus! (is that even a word?). But I think you were with the true spirit of the long history of high morals and low class of this topic! So an old time theater it is for the next target!

The car club I run was in Dearborn last year and we had a great time. The museum (The Henry Ford is the official title) is a full day if done right, they have a couple restaurants there, and I would recommend you tour the Dymaxion House created by R. Buckminster Fuller, but the entire facility is filled with amazing things. There is an IMAX theater right there with Cars 2 playing right now in 3D. If you haven't been to one of these, plan on doing it. At Greenfield Village, the original Herschell-Spillman Carousel is a must do, I am a big man and when I saw it with my grandson, I HAD to get on, and ride one of these for the first time since I was 10, the age of my grandson. It was a blast. Remember that many of the buildings in the exhibit are ORIGINALS! Famous buildings that Henry Ford visited, and just bought and moved. those he could not buy, he would recreate, like the front of the Museum, a recreation of Independence Hall in Philadelphia...can you believe it? They wouldn't sell the entire building to old Henry! Ride the train at the village, and see the original roundhouse (about 1/3 of it anyway) and ask to have a chance to turn the turntable by hand, that weighs a bunch of tons! There is also the Automotive Hall of Fame on the grounds, just across from the Museum/ImAX area. IT is a very good museum that is more than just plaques of famous automotive icons. Several interactive displays and a neat movie to start the tour, consider doing that while there, allow a couple hours, but you should be able to do it in that time. Ride Woodward AVe. just for fun. Start just north of the city, no need to go all the way into the city, the avenue is mostly in the suburbs. Lots of good shopping and food along the way, and if you follow it all the way to Pontiac and a little beyond, you will see some very nice suburbs. Venture off the main road to the side, and you will see some nice mansions, and where the money is from all those automotive ventures! Many stop lights, but it goes pretty fast, and a lot of history there.

On the Griots site, I would take the "American" car horn sound anyday. My '04 GW has true car style horns, and heads swivel whenever I touch the button. People looking for something big with fins on it, I love it! My '86 Venture has the stock twin horns, and I was able to tune them up with the screw on them, and get them to be a bit more annoying, but I would love an air horn setup, just too lazy to install one! A friend has a Dodge Pickup with true air horns in a three horn setup. So loud it can cause accidents if used improperly, but NOBODY ignores him when he blast those horns!
-
There are very few, but none with any group I ride with. There are a couple in town that I see from time to time, but never found them stopped or where they live. The local STAR group has the newer Venture only or other brands. That's OK, I get my share of hits on this game....
-
Easy except for those of us with 25 YO Ventures! But I do have an '04 Wing, and there are plenty of 1800's out there! But right now my 1800 is in the shop and I won't get it back till later this next week!

Ragtop: If you love trains, have you been to the train museum in Chattanooga, TN? The wife and I did the STAR convention last year there, and rode to the museum. They have a steam train, and an electric train they alternate, if you get lucky, you can ride the steam, but we had the electric and it was still a hoot! They say you can't move around during the ride, but I got up and went everywhere and the conductor just smiled. They have a great facility. Must do when you are in the area if you have even a mild interest in trains.
