Some good guesses, but not winners. That dent was made by a 2018 Star Venture Transcontinental touring motorcycle that was stopped in traffic on my way home from work tonight. Making light of a not fun situation I'm ok, just a little stiff and sore. Sent from my SM-G975U1 using Tapatalk

I'm having trouble seeing the connection between the thread topic and abortion, Socialists and Globalists.... I just read the bill.. I can see well reasoned valid points on both sides of helmet law debates (I fall on personal choice side), but don't think police should have the power to stop a rider without just cause. Much too close to "your papers please" or "stop and frisk" policies. Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk

I'm on a 7 day cruise that was supposed to spend 3 days in Bermuda and the rest at sea. Very last minute diverted to Maine, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. I'm having a great time, but there are many grumpy people on this boat. Some didn't find out about change in plans until they arrived at the ship. Clothes appropriate for Bermuda don't work well on Cape Breton island. Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk

Backrest Preferences
DanielM replied to Freebird's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Do you have the Yamaha backrest? If yes, it's it tall enough to make a difference? I'm torn between that or the utopia. Like the idea of yamaha being heated. Ideally I'd like to see them both on other bikes first, but I've still not ever seen a SVTC in the wild other than mine. Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk -

Honest Opinions About the 3rd Gen

I tested a brand new voyager as well in my quest. So many things are much better, but really though I recommend you ride the SVTC yourself. The Voyager ended up at the bottom of my list, but it is much less expensive than everything else. It in my opinion, is not even in the same category as the SVTC, Goldwing, etc. So if you aren't demanding the most advanced that money can buy, dollar for dollar the Voyager does provide very good value. Honest Opinions About the 3rd Gen
DanielM replied to grubsie's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
I was very happy with my 2nd gen, but wanted ABS, traction control and fuel injection in modern 2018 touring machine. Did ton of research comparing the new gold wing, top end Harley, Indian and BMW. For me, TC came out on top. Someone else's calculus may come out different. World would be boring if everyone's preferences are the same. Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk -
Honest Opinions About the 3rd Gen
DanielM replied to grubsie's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Hands down the best bike I've ever ridden. Only real complaint is it can get hot. Lower wind deflectors make a huge difference and should have come standard. Low center of gravity, overall handling is awesome. Truly is a dream to ride. I've had mine for a little over 4 months and just passed 12k miles. My previous two touring bikes were both 2nd gen RSV's (2002 and 2012) that each had a gazillion miles on them by the time I was finished with them. The TC is not a new version venture, it is a completely different motorcycle and should be viewed as such. The only thing they have in common is the name. I loved my RSVs. They served me well, providing me with thousands of miles of great memories without ever letting me down. But the new TC truly makes the 2nd gen obsolete in my opinion. It just isn't fair to compare them against each other. Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk -
2018 Yamaha Star Eluder
DanielM replied to Rafterd's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
I own the TC, but imagine it is same as the Eluder. Walking away automatically engages the alarm, but does not lock the compartments. For that you specifically need to push the lock button on key fob. Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk -
Less harmful physically and to society than alcohol. Prohibition didn't work, just gave rise to organized crime. Legalize and tax it. Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk

+1 to be completely honest, the TC runs hot! At times so hot it becomes uncomfortable. I'm at a little over 9k on mine, first 8k without the lowers. Difference is night and day. I'm upset with yamaha for not including them as stock. $250 to be comfortable is extortion. I don't really like how they look though. Messes up beautiful lines of the front end. According to motorcycle.com, highs are - what a bargain! - more nimble than a grom and better brakes - gear-position indicator! Sighs - cramped for taller folks (not a problem for her) - clutch lever travel is kinda long - you'll be on a first-name basis with local law enforcement (better damn well not be!) This is Kawasaki's clone of the grom, created specifically to compete with the grom. I think Kawasaki is trying to position it as a grom killer. Street legal 125. This kid just finished her freshman year in college, so really young adult. Plan is for her to learn on this, get miles under belt and then move to a middle weight bike. Though we could very well keep this bike for a long time because it really is fun! Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk

2018 Kawasaki Z125 pro... look out world! Well not really upgrade, youngest daughter that weighs 95lbs got her first bike to learn on and I road it home from dealer for her. I'm too old to ride something like that. It and I weigh about the same. Was pretty darn fun to ride though. She is going to love it. Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk

So the promised USB stick from Yamaha came in the mail today. Followed instructions to update software, which worked as advertised. Went for a short ride to see if the GPS has learned difference between left and right for my commute home from work. Verdict is nope.. Let's hope the occasional GPS freeze issue is gone. Lower wind deflectors
DanielM replied to DanielM's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Appreciate the feedback. This is one of those times when being inseam challenged is a good thing. I have no use for extended foot pegs as I wouldn't be able to reach them! Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk -
Does anyone have experience riding both with and without lower wind deflectors? If yes, do they make a big difference? The bike can get a bit warm on my daily commute to work wearing dress pants that don't shield as well as jeans. I would like to hear first hand experience before shelling out $250. Thanks Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk

Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager? Makes me wonder..........
DanielM replied to BigLenny's topic in Watering Hole
I tested one. In terms of value for the money spent, could be a great option for some. For me though, didn't come close to the SVTC and I wasn't looking for the best option on a budget Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk
