  1. We just got back from our first 1700 KMS trip on our Star Venture .We were loaded probably a bit heavy. The bike out handled my 2001 Wing hands down in the corners did not ever think a bike could have a better ride and feel than the Wing but this one does for me at least. As for heat issues the air management works very good we rode in 32-36 degrees Celsius you can feel the heat when you have to stop at a light or for some construction but as soon as you are going it is gone also we were riding in some hot and very humid weather. When we left Thunder bay in the morning to come home it was 3 degrees Celsius and there was frost on the cars beside us and a little on our cover appreciated having lower vents closed kept my legs comfortable. As for the informant system it is very easy to control heated seats and grips from the handle bar switches my wife enjoyed her heated seats very much that morning .Now as for gas mileage with 2 up and cargo we got a whopping 49 miles to the imperial gallon very impressed our average speed was from 100-110 KMS a hour this bike also handles the wind much better then the wing passing semis it sits rock solid. After 40 years of riding a Goldwing I am very pleased with the switch to this machine. Not complaining about the Wing’s I have owned as they have been bullet proof But I am 6.3 and it is very nice feeling to be able to stretch out my legs on the highway pegs without having them rub on the fairing as they did on the Wing also just riding without using highway pegs my legs were not curled back. Will be taking a 6000 KMS trip latter this summer will post results from that trip also. Safe riding to everyone this summer. There is no better feeling than riding rain or shine it is the only way to see the country.
  2. What does you noise sound like I have a sound when going over some bumps slowly sounds a spring sound compressing
  3. Thanks that is what I thought what oil are you using
  4. Thank you that does help not having a belt drive before was not sure9
  5. Any suggestions on oil .Do we have to use yamalube for warranty
  6. Thank you for your info coming from a Gold wing never had a belt drive before.
  7. Was wondering anyone had to adjust belt I have 4500 kms on mine and manual says check every 4000 kms still looks good but wondering if anyone else has had to have it adjusted yet .Taking a trip to Thunder bay next weekend then to BC in July
  8. No do not have the lower wings my heel sits on the floor and rest of foot on pegs I don't think the lower wings would be a problem but not sure
  9. Highway pegs work great on mine I am 6"3 very comfortable on the highway
  10. The paint on mine is so far so good .Was wondering if any one had sunscreen on their hands then touched the paint I know sunscreen has left finger print marks on our air conditioning unit. Also it will stain your leathers.Just my 2 cents I know I will not touch paint on bike with it on my hands.
  11. I am only going to use Yamaha oils and filters they may cost a little more but this way I do not have to worry about warranty. As you said I just need to get used to the engine sound after all this is first v twin after riding Goldwings for 36 years. But glad I made the switch
  12. Thanks everyone for their info. It is definitely not pinging That sound I know makes sense it could be valve train noise.I only use premium but may switch stations also does not decrease performance. Had first service done at 1300 KMS and they used Yamalube and a Yamaha filter. Loving this new bike out handles my 2001 wing one or two up. On the highway in the wind not near as much blowing around it is so far best machine I have owned.
  13. Thankyou sorry about the 2 posts can't figure out how to delete one
  14. Was wondering as I am coming from a wing does anyone notice lifters sound a little loud when accelerating when bike is warm. This my first air cooled bike runs great was out in 32 Celsius for a 400 km ride .So curious is this normal. It does not affect performance and when cruising at 70 MPH It is quiet and smooth also not noticeable when idling only on accelerating

  24. Coming from a 2001 Goldwing first off getting on bike in show room it just felt right even though heavier than the wing it felt lighter. Next step was get my wife to hop on behind me well this I could not believe I did not have to struggle while she got on a lot easier on my 66 year old legs. We went for a 225 KM cruise yesterday and in the wind bike did not get blown around near as much as my wing. Slow speed handling in a parking lot is no problem . Stability on the highway with 50-60 kms wind was a much more improvement for me than on my wing. We cruised at 120 KMS an hour with no problem in fact when I told my wife what our speed was she was in disbelief. When we hit 140 passing a few vehicles in front of us I could not believe how stable this bike is. I am 6’3 and I am really enjoying stretching my legs out. The music from my iPod through the radio was clear at all speeds with no need to crank up volume to max. Informant centre will have a learning curve but already getting used to it will be glad when they finish the update The heated grips are plenty warm at the lowest setting. Don’t get me wrong I loved my Goldwing I have been riding them for 40 years I feel for the long haul for me anyway this bike is a real winner. On another note have heard a lot of complaints on heat I t does throw heat on left side but so far in stop and go traffic it has been no problem once you move a bit heat is not noticeable at least not so far. I do believe it will be a little warmer until broken in as any thing new always runs a little warmer. On closing my wife is quite happy with our new purchase happy wife happy life of riding.
  25. Has anyone found highway pegs that will work with the Star Venture TC
