  1. Airbox drain hose off or crankcase breather hose loose at airbox.
  2. The actual currency rate didn't change that much but credit card companies pad their rates switching either way so they never lose. Even if the gov't rates were the same on those 2 days you will be out roughly 4% switching in and out.
  3. The higher the resistance in the sender circuit the lower the reading....so you might have poor connection between CMU and sender.
  4. Frank.... its on the AIR FILTER fiche 41R-14489-00-00 NOZZLE No nozzle on the 83 as it used ported vacuum off #2 carb which is not as bouncy as the synch port.
  5. The component you are testing should be unplugged from the harness so you are only testing continuity from point A to B. Otherwise it could be taking an alternate path through the harness.
  6. The cruise light (blue if I remember, bike is in winter hibernation) will only be on if the switch is in the center position. and the cruise power relay is closed. When you move the switch to ON, it springs back to center....once the key has been shut off, you will have to rock the switch again to use the cruise...in other words it defaults to cruise power off on every startup. There is a green SET light that be on if the bike is set at a speed.
  7. Well I'm talking OEM staters here. The aftermarket starters could be different. The reason the RSV starters have been recommended for a few years is they are 4 brush, and seem to hold up very well. They were available for a reasonable $ used too. The diagrams in the parts books are not definitive, you have to look at the part listings. (Brushes vs Brush Set).
  8. When you say #2 carb intake joint.....do you mean on the intake runner where the other 3 have caps...or a nozzle on the carb. Does your bike have a nozzle sticking out of the #2 carb body, thats where a 26H TCI system (with pressure sensor)needs to read vacuum.
  9. The starter changed from 2 brush to 4 brush with the 1991 Venture. The VMax switched to 4 brush in 1993. All RSV are 4 brush. If you look on the parts fiches they show Brush 1 & 2 for the older 2 brush units and a Brush Set for the 4 brush units.
  10. okay....what model is the eBay TCI and where is your vacuum signal for the pressure sensor connected?
  11. Gary.... heres a thread with info plus other similiar threads http://www.venturerider.org/forum/second-generation-venture-tech-talk/90251-r1-brake-upgrade-r1-thread.html
  12. You might want to inspect the cylindrical brass bushing in the lever. The pushrod can wear into bushing and cause loss of travel of the piston in the master. Originally the hole is bored to 1/2 the depth of the bushing but I have seen one that the pushrod wore through to other side. The bushing normally wears from rotating in the lever on every clutch pull, grease the bushing periodically.
  13. Heres a pic of an inverted RSV carb set....the drain allen screws and the drain nipples are highlighted. The brass cones are the caps over the pilot screws BTW.
  14. I think Earl was linking to the Tech Library.. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/56723-gen-carb-sync-carbtune-including-pics.html
