Well that’s no good...I don’t want a slower motor. Any ways the guy isn’t responding to my emails and he doesn’t have a number listed so I don’t know.

It is and I only see it getting worse in the future. But I must say today went pretty smooth I was in and out pretty quick. That maybe due to the fact that I got a survey to fill out afterwards. That was a first I had no reason not to give them 5 stars.

I have a new to me 84Â’ venture and IÂ’m really liking the bike but the brakes are horrible. Well I just found a 91Â’ on Craigslist for $200. Does a 91Â’ have the 4 pistion calipers? Are there parts from a 91Â’ that wouldnÂ’t work on a 84Â’? Assuming the brakes are upgraded is there anything else I would want off it to upgrade my 84Â’? Four brush starter? My bike has 58,000 miles and IÂ’m worried about the weak second gear. Is the 1300 a direct bolt in?

The funny thing is she was telling me about other people buying new bikes out of state that didn’t have that sticker. Saying they should know and the dealership should tell them. I just agreed with her and thought for sure she was gonna want to see mine. If I didn’t have the sticker she would of wanted to see it.

Success... I registered my bike today the lady didn’t even look at my $50 emissions sticker. I had extras printed out if anyone in the future reads this and would like one. They turned out really good and look oem. Even though she didn’t ask to see it I’m glad I had it.

The next closest office is a one man show and I hear it’s no different there. The next one is three hours away but I hear it’s the place to go but I found a guy that will make one so I’m going that route. Thanks for keeping a eye out for me.

I’ll give it a shot if you don’t mind taking a good picture of if. Who knows I might be able to just print it out or maybe the local sticker company would be willing to reproduce it. Anyways its worth a shot. I really appreciate it. Thank you

I thought about taking a picture but I’m not good with photo editing software and I’m not sure how a local sticker shop would feel about doing that. The bike wasn’t originally sold in California so it’s not California compliant. I have a sticker but its only compliant with federal emissions laws. I found a cover on eBay with the sticker I need but there on the east coast and the guy wasn’t willing to work with me. If I don’t register my bike in the next couple of days I’ll be fined. So I think I’m going to just try it and hopefully my inspector isn’t a hard ass. It’s ridiculous that they want a sticker that says it was compliant with California laws 34 years ago.

They just want to see it on the bike so I would need to take the panel off in the parking lot.

I did.. A smog check is not my problem. I know I donÂ’t need one. I was already in dmv but I didnÂ’t have the bike with me for them to inspect. The lady said they need to check 1. Vin # 2. Engine # 3. Federal safety standards sticker 4. California emissions sticker. The emissions sticker like the one spencer post is what need. Basically saying that when the bike was originally sold that it complied with California laws and was legal to sell in commiecali. For a motorcycle, check the frame or refer to your owner' s manual for the location. The label should read that the vehicle conforms to California regulations, or that it is legal for sale in California.

Mine doesn’t have it because it came from Oregon. Be nice and if I see it going down hill maybe slip them a little something something. 😁

I know rite.. I would be out of here if it wasn’t for family, friends and the weather.

That’s the one I need. Mine only says it meets US epa. Unfortunately that’s for a 83’ I need one for a 84’ but I could probably get by that with a little scratch over the three. If you Heat it up with a heat gun it should soften up the adhesive and peel off. I could send it back to you after I get it registered.

I know rite... I need a picture of one so I can print it out and slap it on there. Thanks for the offer but I’m going to just roll with it and hope for the best. I’ll try to convince them that 86’ is when they started putting the Cali compliant stickers on there.

Is there no one in California with a first gen that can confirm or deny they have California emissions sticker.

I found the emissions sticker on the left cover. It says it conforms to US epa but nothing about California.

Thats correct I do not need to get a smog check but my understanding is it still needs that sticker that says at the time of manufacture it met California requirement.

No.. it would either say it’s 50 state legal or more likely say something like this motorcycle meets California emission requirements

I think the 7500 mile thing is for people that move here. If your bike isn’t California legal it needs to have 7500 miles on it to be able to register it here. Unfortunately California citizens don’t have that luxury when it comes to bringing in out of state bikes.

Do you California owners have a California emissions sticker on your bike. I bought a 84’ out of state and dmv says it needs a California emissions compliant sticker. The only stickers I see is a federal safety standards sticker and a federal noise emissions sticker. I hope this doesn’t turn into a big headache.
